Workforce Training: West Columbia, Part 1A
Introduction
Some of the active workforce training / educational programs that help provide a pathway for people looking to get into manufacturing jobs in West Columbia, SC were provided in the same city's tab in the attached spreadsheet. Some populations were not specifically mentioned in the programs but the companies mentioned general support for marginalized or diverse segments of the population. Some locations are outside the area but we ensured that they are within the required 150-200-mile radius of the city using Google Maps. For each example, we have provided the company name, program name, program type, and link to the program website. Some highlighted findings were presented below.
Highlighted Findings
- The Arclabs Welding School offers the "1,300 Hour Master Welder Program Certification" that also targets veterans.
- The Mobile Welding Training Center aims to provide welding training programs to youths and incumbent workers.
- The SkillsUSA South Carolina holds "Occupationally Oriented Contests" for the manufacturing sector.
Research Strategy
For this research on the active workforce training / educational programs that help provide a pathway for people looking to get into manufacturing jobs in West Columbia, SC, we leveraged the most reputable sources of information in the public domain such as education-oriented websites (EdTech, Edlearn, etc.), manufacturing websites, state websites, and other relevant sources. We then found several of these programs. However, some diverse or marginalized populations were not specifically mentioned in the programs but the companies mentioned general support for them. Some locations are outside the area but we ensured that they are within the required 150-200-mile radius of the city using Google Maps.
