Will you provide a competitive analysis of baby/child care matching services for parents with kids- it's place in the ecosystem, what differentiates it from its competitors, and what each is doing well?

The four companies in the baby/child care matching space that we compared in a competitive analysis are Care.com, SitterCity, eNannySource, and UrbanSitter. The requested details have been entered into the attached competitive landscape spreadsheet.

Methodology

To determine which companies we would compare, we used the three services you provided, which were Care.com, SitterCity, and UrbanSitter. Since Wonder's standard is to compare four companies, we searched Owler for another top competitor in the space, which resulted in eNannySource. To determine the order in which the companies would appear on the competitive landscape, we used the annual revenue. For the three companies that are private, we provided the reported annual revenue on Owler, so please note that the revenues for SitterCity, UrbanSitter, and eNannySource are estimates.

There was no information available on "strong connections to particular networks" for any of the companies. All four services have their own caregiver networks from which users select providers on an as-needed basis.

The images we included for each company are those that depict various aspects of the user interface that show how the products are successful. There may be other images that are useful to you, but many are not available without a subscription.

Since three of the four companies we profiled are private, they do not provide consistent press releases. Therefore, we compiled a listing of recent press releases for Care.com, but recent press coverage for SitterCity, eNannySource, and UrbanSitter.

Results

The four companies that dominate the child care matching service space are:

On the attached spreadsheet, we have provided an overview of each company, along with its revenue, founders, investors (if any), competitive advantage, target market, products and services, pricing, and recent press releases or coverage. We also provided images of various aspects of each company's user interface.

Conclusion

Care.com is by far the most prominent player in the child care matching service market. SitterCity is a distant second even though it has been around since 2001. The top two services offer more than just matches for child care, which has helped them develop robust networks that provide significant choice to their users. eNannySource and UrbanSitter only offer childcare matching services, but eNannySource differentiates itself by making household employee background checks affordable, and UrbanSitter offers parents local connections to child caregivers, making it seem more trustworthy and secure.
