Website Visitor Analysis
This research provides an analysis of two websites and the main social media pages/accounts of two organizations: Autism Speaks and Autism Society. This analysis reveals that parents are most-likely the primary visitors of these websites.
- The website's main message on their homepage reads "Enhancing lives today and accelerating a spectrum of solutions for tomorrow." The main menu provides additional insight with the 'What is Autism?' and the 'Help & Information' menus. It also showcases the organization's work in the 'Our Work' tab and provides information on how one can 'Get Involved'. It also provides a link to basic information in Spanish.
- Below the homepage banner, images of children are used to guide one to the different topics: Learn the Signs and Newly Diagnosed are examples of the topics addressed. The next section addresses the community's role in addressing autism. These pages address the following: Autism Response Team, Providers & Information, and Autism Friendly Events. The three main categories of people targeted by this website include people with Autism, parents, and educators, as it provides resources that empower them.
- The page that addresses how to learn the signs provides a breakdown for children from as early as six months. This information would be relevant to parents. As they grow older, educators come into play. Once they become adults, these individuals will need to gather information for themselves. As a result, by this analysis, we can state that the primary visitor type could be parents. By analyzing the resources available, educators and those with Autism would follow.
- This organization has an account on Reddit which can only be accessed by members. For this reason, we analyzed the second social media channel in terms of the number of visitors redirected to the website: Facebook with 30.03%. The organization posts approximately daily on its Facebook page, focusing more on story-telling. Several posts demonstrate the impact of intervention for those who are living with Autism and those that care for them. This page has 2,115,854 likes and 1,975,887 followers. Facebook covers a large range of demographics. As such, we may not be able to draw conclusions based on the use of Facebook.
- Similar to the Autism Speaks website, this website also provides insights into what Autism is, how to live with it, how others can get involved, and information on the organization, in the main menu. The additional menu item here is the national helpline information menu. The homepage banner has different quotes that appear on top of the same image in a loop. Examples of these quotes include:

- “I celebrate myself for how I think and what it is that I value in life. I rest easy knowing that nobody can take that away from me.”—Kyle Corbett, Ventures ATL employee.

- The Autism Society shares stories of different people across the spectrum of the community. It also provides statistics and facts around Autism, additional insights into Autism, advocacy through affiliate programs that help families across the US, and information on how one can donate.
- In our earlier research, we discovered that Twitter was the primary social media source of redirection to their website: 42.34%. This organization has over 115,300 followers on Twitter where they post daily. These posts provide insight into the society, provide additional information, advertise events/talks that would be of benefit to the society, and any other related articles/publications.
- Recent statistics reveal that 80% of active Twitter users are affluent millennials. Using the information here, we can conclude that the primary demographic that visits this website is millennial parents.
