I want to know the average rate of car rentals per day in large cities of the US.
As requested to find the average rate of car rentals per day in large cities of the US, we have searched for various surveys and media articles to find the relevant figures. I have complied all the required data in a spreadsheet attached to the mail.
As there is not defined criteria discussed in the request to determine the large cities as per the request, I first made a list of the large cities in the U.S. by population. Then I searched for the average rate of car rentals in the large cities of the US. During my research, I have analyzed that the average car rental varies each year time to time. Most of the reports revealed that New York City has the highest car rental.
I found two surveys by the Cheap Car Rental detailing the average car rental for the period of August 1–31, 2016 and the other one is for the period of November 23–27, 2016 (Thanksgiving weekend). An article published by Forbes 2016 also referenced the previous data revealed from the survey done by the Cheap Car Rental.
Apart from this, I found the list of average daily car rate for the period of January to November 2015, published by the Business Travel News. I found another recent survey done by the Cheap Car Rental for the period of November 21–25, 2017.
I found an article published in the Corporate Housing in August 2017 detailing the most expensive cities for business travel in the U.S. New York City has the most expensive car rental of $48.92. San Francisco is at number two with $46.95 car rental.
A recently published press release by J.D. Power has revealed that "the average daily rental car price has dropped by $11 per day in 2017".
Tableau Public has provided the summary of the quarterly trend for the average car rentals for three consecutive years.

Year 2016
Year 2017
CONCLUSION
I have compiled the data from all the above-mentioned articles and survey reports in a spreadsheet attached to the mail. The data is for the large US cities from 2015 to 2017. During my research, I found that New York city remain the costliest city for daily car rental.
Moreover, while analyzing the trend for average daily car rental, the rates are decreasing over time.
