Research Strategy

We began by searching trusted media sources for any information supporting the assertions made in this BuzzSprout article and were able to find three credible articles. These articles relate to starting a podcast and the popularity of pets as a profitable niche topic. No publicly available information discussed the other 18 topics in terms of podcasting opportunities. We expanded our search to include statistical databases like Pew Research without any success. We then performed a scan of Google Search Trends to see how these keywords perform in terms of public searches. This information gave us general insight into which of the remaining 18 topics might present content opportunities for podcasts. We assumed a US regional focus since BuzzSprout is headquartered in Jacksonville, FL. Although not technically a state, we included the District of Columbia when highlighting states where particular search terms are popular.
