What is the truck fleet sizes break down in Europe?
Hi there, and thank you for giving us another chance to answer your request for the truck fleet sizes breakdown in Europe.
The short answer is that, after extensive search through government reports, consultancy studies and official databases, I have determined that the information you requested is not publicly available because this data has not been compiled and disclosed.
However, I was able to find a breakdown of commercial truck fleet sizes in Great Britain, as well as the top markets in the region for truck fleets.
I elaborate on my findings and methodology below.
METHODOLOGY & NOTES
In order to answer your query, I looked through official sources within the EU for numbers on truck fleets. I started by consulting sources on regional numbers, such as the International Council for Clean Transportation, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association, Automotive Fleet, Freightlink Europe, the European Environmental Agency, Eurostat, the European Central Bank and databases from the European Commission.
Whereas these sources did include numbers on truck fleets, they did not have numbers on fleet sizes or how many fleets there were according to number of vehicles in the fleet. I switched gears then, and looked for numbers of specific countries as a way to approximate the information - but I only succeeded in finding figures for Great Britain, which I include below.
USEFUL FINDINGS
According to Statista, the commercial truck fleet market in Great Britain breaks down as follows as of 2015:
These numbers refer only to commercial truck fleets, meaning those fleets with operator licenses.
The main markets in Europe for trucks are Germany, France, the UK, Italy, Spain and Poland. Of these, Germany represents 30% of the total market, followed by the UK (12%) and France (10%).
All these countries also lead in sales of passenger cars, except for Poland - which represents only 2% of total car sales, but jumps to 6% in truck sales, surpassing Spain and Italy.
POTENTIAL CONTINUED RESEARCH
In understanding the type of information that is publicly available, I have come up with a couple of alternative research projects that I think may come in useful:
- Please provide a historical breakdown of truck fleets by size in Great Britain. How have these number changed in the last five years?
- What are the top markets in Europe for truck fleets, and how have they changed in the last five years?
To wrap up, after extensive search through government reports, consultancy studies and official databases, I have determined that the information you requested is not publicly available because this data has not been compiled and disclosed.
If you would like us to continue researching on any of the suggested paths above, please let us know.
Thank you for choosing Wonder!
