How many trade shows were in the US during 2015 and 2016? If you can breakdown by B2B vs. B2C, that would be great.

Hello! Thanks for your question about the number of US trade shows. The short version is that there are over 13,000 trade shows in the USA annually (9,000 B2B and 3,500 B2C). There are over 14,000 trade shows planned for 2017. Below you will find a deep dive of my findings.

METHODOLOGY
I started by familiarizing myself with the previous research. 10Times is an excellent resource for findings trade shows and conferences. However, their search filters do not go further back then the current month. In other words, 10Times only provides data for future events. I found this to be the case with all the other event databases, like EventsEye and The ExpoDatabase. I recommend conducting this research in December, in order to get the most accurate results. However, I was able to find The Center for Exhibition Industry Research's "2015 Index Report." The CEIR uses data from 2001 through 2014 to "provide a forecast for 2015 to 2017."

FINDINGS
According to the CEIR, there were 13,000 events in 2015; 9,000 were B2B and 3,500 were B2C. Globally, in 2015 there were 73,279 trade shows and over 34,000 trade shows planned for 2017. THE CEIR provide data on different sectors of the industry along with how many events were held on that topic. Medical, Health, Science and Business Services were the most popular event types.

According to 10Times, as of January 2017, there are over 25,500 events planned in the USA. Of these, 14,332 are specifically US trade shows.

EventsEye lists 1,381 trade shows in the USA for 2017 - 2018.

The ExpoDatabase lists 1,124 trade shows for 2017. .

CONCLUSION
To wrap it up, there were 13,000 trade shows in 2015 and 2016 with 14,000 planned for 2017. The majority will be B2B. Thanks for using Wonder! Please let us know if we can help with anything else!
