THE METRICS TO DEFINE ''TOP'' RECRUITING WEBSITES

For the "top" definition, the metrics we used included response rate, conversion rate, and new hire cost, which can be represented as the numbers of job views and job applicants, and the frequency of job status updates. The more the applicants, the higher the response rate. The more frequent the job status updates, the more likely the conversion rate to be higher. Using a niche job board reduced the new hire cost as it targeted the right talents. Besides these, we also focused on the job sites that have qualified candidates, such as the AMA Job Board, PRSA Job Center, Talent Zoo, and PR News Job Board, as they are originally the communities for professionals or executive search firms.

Research Strategy

In order to determine the top recruiting websites in the U.S. that are dedicated to one or more of the perspective industries (communications, marketing communications, digital marketing, and public relations), we reviewed a number of articles and lists reporting on the subject, and shortlisted those sites which appeared at least twice. We then narrowed down our results by determining, through examination of each website, which had the most job views, the most job applicants, and the most recent job update. This provided us with a list of seven online job recruiting websites: AMA Job Board, MarketingHire.com, PRSA Job Center, Talent Zoo, Mashable, Mediabistro, and PR News Job Board.
