Note that the Dunnhumby’s Retailer Preference Index (RPI) report provided a list of the top 15 grocery businesses in the US. However, we have provided only 13 as the remaining two are subsidiaries of companies already part of the list.

Research Strategy
For the purpose of this research on the top grocery brands in the United States, we relied upon several pre-compiled lists of top grocery businesses in the country including Dunnhumby’s Retailer Preference Index (RPI) report, Supermarket News, Reader's Digest, Zippia, USA By Numbers, and Food Industry.
We selected the top 13 players provided in the Dunnhumby’s Retailer Preference Index (RPI) report because it is the most comprehensive and recent report in the public domain concerning the top grocery brands in the US. Note that the Dunnhumby’s Retailer Preference Index (RPI) report provided a list of the top 15 grocery businesses in the US. However, we have provided only 13 as the remaining two are subsidiaries of companies already part of the list. From the rest of our lists, we identified 12 additional top players in the industry by selecting grocery companies that appeared in at least two of the other pre-compiled lists.
