Research Strategy
Kindly note that the attached spreadsheet contains details of 99 companies. This is because Christian Dior and LVMH both appear on the primary list even though the former part of the latter. Additionally, we were unable to provide the marketing spend for 10 of the companies listed. This was after examining their annual reports and SEC filings, where applicable. We also sought to leverage news articles and publications from industry publications and statistics websites such as Statista. However, we found no advertising spend for these companies in the public domain. Also, some of the figures provided for the marketing spend are lumped together with other company expenses. Where this was this case, we added a note to indicate what additional expenses were included. Lastly, some of the figures provided were from 2018 because the companies have not released their 2019 integrated report, yet or they run on a different fiscal calendar.
