Who are the top competitors to Askwonder, both for customers and researchers?

Hi there, and thank you for your request for the top competitors to Wonder, both for customers and researchers.

In the attached spreadsheet I have included five competitors to Wonder at the customer level, as well as 10 competitors to Wonder at the researcher level.

I elaborate on my findings below.

METHODOLOGY & NOTES
In order to answer your query, I looked at databases like Crunchbase, Owler, Datafox and Hoovers to find direct competitors to Wonder. However, due to Wonder's specific business model, I was unsuccessful to locate a direct competitor -meaning a company that offers online research by drawing upon a pool of freelancers around the world who work on their own schedule.

Because of this specific business models, traditional research services do not directly compete with Wonder. Even if they're online, such as German company Mo'web, they tend to work with a staff and/or a set group of freelancers, as opposed to being a collaborative/sharing economy type of business like Wonder - which is a fundamental difference in model that makes them not compete directly.

Therefore, I looked for companies that were internet-based, exclusively online, which drew their workforce off a pool of freelancers who work on their own schedule. I focused on companies that either made knowledge the basis of their business like Wonder, such as MyScienceWork and Authorea (which Datafox lists as competitors); or that offer research as part of their services, but not exclusively, such as VA companies TaskBullet, FlatWorld and Vasumo.

Similarly, in terms of competitors for researchers, I did not find any company that offered exactly the same type of job as Wonder. However, I did find several companies that offer remote, online work to be performed on the freelancer's own schedule that potential researchers for Wonder may choose to do instead. Eight of these companies offer word-based jobs, such as transcription, translation, caption or product description, whereas the last two are user testing sites.

Also take into account that all VA sites mentioned as indirect competitors would also be competing with Wonder for researchers.

Where available, funding or annual revenue has been provided.

Please note that all sources and links to media articles are included in the spreadsheet. Also note that some of the sources are older than two years, dating back to either when the company was founded or when it received a substantial round of funding.
