What are the TOP 10 biggest radio stations in US and how many people are listening each of them daily?

Greetings!

Thanks for requesting the top 10 radio stations in the U.S. and how many people are listening to them daily. The most helpful source I found on the subject was the Radio Online site that uses data from Nielsen, a reputable consumer analytics company, which was updated as recently as 24 January 2017. Unfortunately, I was unable to find any precompiled list illustrating the top 10 radio stations in the U.S. according to daily listeners. But by identifying the largest radio markets I was able to uncover what could reasonably be considered the biggest radio stations in the country. Below I have provided a deep dive of my findings.

METHODOLGY

In order to provide you with the best possible answer, I have compiled a list of the largest metro radio markets in the U.S based on data from Radio Online. Those markets are New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Houston-Gavelston, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Boston, respectively. Included on the Online Radio database was the largest radio station for each of these markets according to the percentage of U.S. listeners 12 years of age and above. With both of these figures, I used the population and percentage to figure out the number of listeners for the top 10 radio stations in the country. Below I have restated the largest metro radio markets in the U.S., with the number of listeners to back it up, and the radio stations from those markets (many of which are from New York alone) that hold the largest share of listeners.

The formula was (# of active daily listeners as of 24 January 2017) x (percentage of market share occupied by the top radio stations) = (number of listeners for each station).
