Can you tell me the best providers of LULU elevator lifts available for the New York market with estimated costs to have one installed?

Hello! Thank you for your question about the best providers of LULA elevator lifts in New York and installation estimates. The most useful sources I found to answer your question were the company websites and the Better Business Bureau (BBB). The short version is I found several companies that fit the criteria of this request, and calculated that it would cost about $55,500 to buy and install a LULA lift elevator. Below you will find a deep dive of my findings.

I conducted advanced Internet searches using a variety of key words and query types. I sifted through information from trusted media sites, industry reports and company websites. I confined the results to within the last of 2 years unless otherwise noted and kept a New York scope. To determine the “best” providers of LULA lifts, I explored three different criteria: cost, ratings on Yelp, BBB, and/or Google and company revenue. I used Owler to look up the company revenues, if available.

My research found 9 providers (10 total including Garaventa that was provided) of LULA lifts in New York and some estimates of prices and installation costs. As requested, I summarized the results in this GOOGLE spreadsheet. The request did not specify if this is a commercial or residential project, therefore I looked at both options to create a range and calculate averages.

LULA LIFT COMPANIES

Please see this Google spreadsheet for a summary of the companies. I was not able to find pricing information from any of them, so a phone call, email or use of the online contact form will be necessary for obtaining an accurate quote (making telephone calls is not one of the research functions of Wonder Analysts). Yelp reviews were not helpful for evaluating the companies because most of them have not been rated or had very few reviews; as I also found to be true for Google. The BBB ratings were easy to lookup on their website. Via Owler, I found that several of the companies are privately owned. Because of this, they are not required to publicly publish their earnings so no data was available.

LULA LIFT PRICING

After extensive searching, I found the pricing for LULA lifts to be somewhat elusive. Most firms asked to call for a quote or use their online form. The spreadsheet has the phone numbers and links to the website contact form for each company. I located one company called Elevator Atlanta that had the estimate of $36,000 to $50,000 on their website for a LULA. Angie’s List says that a “basic” home elevator costs around $20,000. This is agreement on this $20,000 the estimated cost for a “typical” home elevator from Nationwide Lifts. Additional information on the Nationwide Lifts site says elevators range in cost from $10,000 to $100,000, averaging about $19,000 to $25,000.

INSTALLATION COST

The same article on Angie’s List mentioned above, says that it can cost another $10,000 to $20,000 for remodeling and retrofitting to install an elevator. Arizona Elevator Solutions estimates the installation costs of home elevator between $15,000 and $16,000. Data on the website FIXr says the installation cost of a 15 square foot hydraulic elevator is $15,000 to $16,000. The LULA website states that their smaller lifts occupy about 5 square feet, so the installation cost could be about one-third (~$5,000). Their commercial lifts are around 18 square feet, about half the size of regular commercial lifts. Nationwide Lifts says that installation can range from $5,000 to $10,000.

Some additional information I found that may be helpful - RMR Elevator Company, Inc. in Linden, New Jersey, says on their website that they charge a straight time labor rate of $250.00 per hour for installation using one mechanic. The rate is $375.00 per hour for 2-man team and $525.00 per hour overtime for 2-man teams. The overtime rate for one man is $350.00 per hour.

SUMMARY AND CALCULATIONS

The only price I found for a LULA elevator was the range on the Elevator Atlanta website---$36,000 to $50,000. Installation costs ranged from $5,000 to $20,000. If we calculate the average LULA price and add it to the average installation cost, we can get a very rough estimate of the cost to install 1 elevator.

Average LULA price = ($36,000 + $50,000) / 2 = $43,000. Average installation cost = ($5,000 + $20,000) / 2 = $12,500. Rough estimate total = $43,000 = $12,500 = $55,500.

CONCLUSION

To wrap it up, I found several companies that fit the criteria of this request, and calculated that it would cost about $55,500 to buy and install a LULA lift elevator.
