To find a list of ten garment manufacturers based in the US that produce both swimwear and intimate apparel, your research team started with third-party curated lists of intimate apparel and swimwear manufacturers and then searched those lists for relevant companies. For example, we referenced Thomas Net's list of intimate apparel suppliers and Fashion Dex's list of suppliers for intimate apparel. Though these lists are extensive, we only found a few companies that fit the exact criteria of this request.
Once we'd exhausted that strategy, we began to search directly for swimwear and intimate apparel manufacturers in the U.S. through company websites, industry blogs, and media publications. Through this approach, we identified Gelmart, L Brands, and Argyle Haus. However, it was challenging to find companies that fit the specific criteria of this request using this approach, as it's challenging to narrow the search to only companies in the US and manufacturers that produce both swimwear and intimate apparel. As a result, many of the search results were not relevant to this request.
Third, we looked into major and boutique swimwear and intimate apparel brands in the US to identify their manufacturers. We looked into brands such as Naja, Aerie, Komar, Raj Swim, Perry Ellis, and Victoria's Secret. This produced some results, such as L Brands, although many of these companies do their own manufacturing, rather than partnering with a manufacturing company. After exhausting these three research strategies, we were only able to find eight companies that meet all the criteria, particularly that manufacture both swimwear and intimate apparel. Most of the companies we found during our search either manufacture swimwear or intimate apparel, but not both.
To identify the retailers and brands associated with each manufacturer, we first referred to the company websites, some of which publish the names of brands and/or retailers, such as Gelmart and Fashions Unlimited. In the case that the company does not publish this information, we searched for partners, clients, and brands affiliated with the manufacturer via third-party sources, such as the retailers' or brands' websites, press releases, reviews and testimonials, media publications, etc. This approach was largely unsuccessful, as it appears this information is not typically made public through these source types. As a third approach, we analyzed the social media accounts of the companies to note any posts about retailers or brands. For example, Indie Source posts frequently about its brands, retailers, and products on Instagram, so we were able to develop a brand list for the company using this source. In a few cases, there are no particular retailers affiliated with the manufacturer's brands; this is noted in the spreadsheet as "N/A".
