Student Information Systems (2)

The previous research, Student Information Systems, has identified five SIS vendors that offer some form of federal financial aid management functions, namely Oracle, Workday, Ellucian Company, Aptron, and Unifyed. This research supplements the previous one, by adding three additional SIS vendors that offer federal financial aid funds management and are comparable to Jenzabar. As Anthology or Campus Management is in use, vendors who are not identified in this research are less likely to have federal financial aid management features.

Helpful Findings

As revealed in the chart below, the top nine software vendors represent 91% of the global SIS market, most of which are covered in the previous research. Cloud-based SIS vendors who have a focus on the higher education sector and offer federal financial aid management features are expected to be very few and less comparable to leading vendors, such as Jenzabar. Both Empower and Populi were not included in the previous research, as it is not clear whether they are cloud-based solutions, according to the publicly available information. Diamond SIS partners with a third-party (DJA Financial Aid Services) to offer services associated with federal financial aid as opposed to being part of its software features.

Empower (formerly ComSpec International)

  • Empower's SIS software offers self-service Web portals and financial aid management features. Despite various modules or features being offered as services, there is no evidence on the company Website stating the software is a cloud-based solution.
  • Pricing information is not publicly available. Contact details.

Populi

  • Populi is a Web-based SIS software vendor and offers financial aid management features. One software user review site treats Populi as a SaaS whereas the other one treats it as a Web-based solution; it is also not clear from Populi's Website whether the product is offered as a cloud service or not.
  • The monthly cost has two parts: $199 base rate + $7 per billable student. Contact details.

Research Strategy

The research team reviewed further information from market research, software review portals, and news releases. Some information was not prioritized in the previous research, as they are from blogs. Despite aiming to identify five or more vendors, there appears to be limited information and options comparable to Jenzabar.
