In order to find Snuggle's TV ads, digital banner ads, and printed ads in 1983, we initially checked Snuggle website to see if they have a press release section or gallery/history section that will provide a collection of its ads but it was not available. Next, we checked YouTube and iSpotTV to find Snuggle TV commercials or videos on digital banners and printed ads. From YouTube, we found only one TV commercial of Snuggle from 1983. We also found a video on YouTube which is a compilation of all the Snuggle commercials from 1983-2016 but the specific year when each commercial was launched was not indicated.
We joined the Snuggle community to see if there is a section or discussion on ads and its history that will enable us to search per period. However, the community mostly focuses on purchases and there was no information related to old advertisements.
We also checked credible media and news sources such PR Newswire, Marketing Tech News, Marketing Land, Marketing Week, and Forbes to find any data on previous ads but we did not find any related article on any advertisement of Snuggle in 1983. Blog posts were also scoured since fans may have shared any Snuggle commercial but we only found information on Snuggle bear as its mascot since 1983.
In regard to the digital and print ads, we researched through ad image directories such as Moat and Pinterest and found pictures on how the Snuggle bottles and sheets look from the 1980s. But these are not specifically mentioned to be in 1983. We were not able to see any print ad released in 1983 during our search. One possible reason is that 1983 was long ago, therefore, much of the news regarding ads may be archived and pictures were not taken or have not been uploaded since the internet and social media at that time was not widely used.
