What is the size of the premium cooler market in the united states?
Hello, and thanks for your question about the size of the premium cooler market in the United States. I have found that the market can be estimated to be around $2,874.48 million. Below you will find a deep dive into my research, along with all the details as to how I came to this conclusion.
OVERVIEW
After a thorough search I can confirm that there are no precompiled statistics regarding the US premium cooler market specifically. I did find a report on the "United States Beverage Coolers Market 2017 Share, Trend, Segmentation and Forecast to 2022" however, it is necessary to purchase this report in order to see any figures.
In absence of any freely available pre-compiled figure I have found data which has allowed me to make some calculations of my own. I have looked at the revenues for premium cooler brands in order to get an estimate of what this segment of the market may be generating.
The most useful sources that I found for answering your question were the Field and Stream article, along with Owler to help find revenues.
PREMIUM COOLER BRAND REVENUES
As there are no precompiled figures available here, nor is there information regarding how the entire cooler market is segmented, I have decided the best way to calculate this portion of the market it to find out how much revenue each premium cooler brand is making annually and then add this together. I found an article by Field and Stream which identifies 12 premium cooler brands (Cabela's, Orion, Yeti, Igloo Sportsman, Pelican, Engel, Orca, Frostbite, Canyon, Grizzly, Bison, HP Coolers). I then used Owler, and in some cases other sources, in order to discover each company's annual revenue:
Frostbite = None estimated
HP = None estimated
As you can see, for two of these brands there are no estimations of revenue available. In order to move forward with my estimation of this market segment I have made estimations based on the revenues of the other companies. The average revenue of the 10 premium cooler brands is: $2,395.4million/10= $239.54 million. Therefore I will substitute this average in for both Frostbite and HP in order to make my next calculation. The total revenue of all 12 premium cooler brands comes to $2,874.48 million. Representing a rough estimation of the current size of the premium cooler market in the US.
CONCLUSION
Overall I have found that the premium cooler market may be worth around $2,874.48 million. The leading brand within this market by far is Cabela's, who are generating around $1.27 billion annually from cooler sales.
