Shipping Conferences

The top conferences of 2019 of interest to enterprise shipping managers include ISM2019, SOAR2019, the Gartner Supply Chain Executive Conference, the Internation Shipping Community Conference, WERC2019, and the 3PL and Supply Chain Summit. Information concerning each of these conferences is included below.

Warehousing Education and Research Council 2019 (WERC)

WERC is in its 42nd year as an annual conference for logistics professionals. The conference has the slogan “The supply chain runs through us.” WERC offers educational sessions that allow for the acquisition of practical skills and knowledge, especially in the fields of logistics and warehousing. The conference also provides hands-on help to allow attendees to develop skills and have the opportunity to advance in their supply-chain knowledge.

This year’s conference includes a thought-leader session entitled “Follow Tractor Supply's Delivery from Store Service Journey” along with a peer-to-peer discussion session on “Best Practices in Reverse Logistics.” The conference does include vendors and these are known as “solutions partners.” Over 1,000 are expected to be in attendance at this year's event. There will be more than 120 presenters. The conference is targeted towards those in the logistics and supply chain fields. The event takes place in Columbus Ohio from the dates of April 28 through May 1.

This conference was chosen because it appears on two different resources outlining the top logistics and shipping conferences in the US for 2019. This event is also in its 42nd year and is well-respected in the industry.

Gartner Supply Chain Executive Conference

The Gartner Supply Chain conference has a strong focus on both physical and digital supply chains. It includes several unique facets that distinguish it from other supply chain conferences. One such component is the “Gartner Top 25” which features the top 25 organizations embodying supply chain excellence and innovations. These organizations are honored with a special dinner. It provides a great opportunity to get to know and spend time with the key players in this field.

The conference looks in depth at supply chain strategy, leadership, innovation, planning. Logistics, collaboration and supply chain visibility are also discussed. The conference is targeted towards those in the logistics and supply chain fields. This year’s conference will also cover utilizing the cloud, Internet of Things, and advanced analytics that can improve visibility and agility. It takes place on May 13-16, 2019 and is located in Phoenix, AZ. Exhibitors will be included and over 2,000 are expected to be in attendance.

The Gartner Supply Chain Executive Conference has been chosen as one of the top conferences because it was listed among five of the top conferences in North America and has been described as “The Most Important Gathering of Supply Chain Leaders.”

3PL and Supply Chain Summit

The 3PL and Supply Chain Summit includes sessions and training on mastering the digital supply chain. Some of the highlights of the conference include strategies to anticipate and scale digital capabilities, leveraging “data for greater visibility, communication and decision-making”, and how to retain the best drivers and leverage smart solutions to combat labor shortage. The conference features nine keynotes and four focused tracks along with 60+ C-level speakers.

This conference takes place June 10-12, 2019. It is located in Atlanta, GA and is expected to have over 800 attendees. The conference currently has 200+ vendors enrolled. The conference is targeted towards those in the logistics and supply chain fields.

The 3PL and Supply Chain summit is considered to be one of the top conferences in the US and also “North America’s most senior supply chain meeting which brings together supply chain, logistics, transport and technology for a 360 on speed, agility and flexibility to meet your customers’ demands.”

ISM2019

ISM2019 includes four days of 70+ breakout sessions and three keynotes. One of the keynote addresses includes Janet Yellen as a speaker. Tracks during the sessions include “How-To” which consists of case studies, how-to examples, and research, along with “Sourcing for Value” which shares insights and best practices and case studies on driving value directly and indirectly. The conference is targeted towards those in the logistics and supply chain fields. Well over 100 vendors will be on site of the conference. The event takes place in Houston, TX over the days of April 7-10, 2019.

This conference was chosen because it is considered one of the top logistics conferences in the US taking place during Q2 of 2019. It is a well-known and respected annual conference from the Institute for Supply Management.

SOAR2019

SOAR2019 is a four-day conference hosted by BluJaySolutions. The focus is on optimizing businesses and driving value in the supply chain. Practical tips and ideas are provided to help solve logistics challenges. The conference includes several breakout sessions. Customer and Strategic Advisory Boards take place from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The conference includes different levels of sponsorship and vendors. An added feature not seen in other conferences is that attendees can schedule private and personal consultations with BluJay leaders to discuss shipping and logistics strategies. It takes place in Orlando, FL on April 23-26, 2019.

This event was chosen because it is considered one of the top 50 logistics conferences in the US taking place in 2019. The conference is targeted towards those in the logistics and supply chain fields.

CMA shipping 2019

This conference places heavy emphasis on shipping (actual ships) but also includes focus on logistics and shipping of goods. It includes a “Strategic Initiatives Speed Round” by the Shipping G-6 Summit, along with sessions on creating climate wealth.

In addition to the above features, the conference also includes RightShip’s CEO Martin Crawford-Brunt as one of the speakers along with Justine Fisher, Vice President and Senior Research Analyst of Goldman Sachs. Discussions will be held on commercial shipping issues such as bank documentation and blockchain utilization.

Over 2,500 people are expected in attendance. Over 140 exhibitors will be present. This annual conference takes place on April 2-4, 2019 in Stamford, CT. The conference is targeted towards those in the shipping and logistics fields.

The conference was chosen for inclusion because of its annual nature and being rated as having an eight out of ten in reputation. Additionally, it is cited as being “the largest international shipping event in North America.”
