Companies engaging in patient navigator services include Epic Systems (MyChart), Athena Health (Patient Communicator), MEDHOST (YourCareCommunity), Cerner (HealtheLife), eClinicalWorks (Healow), NetSmart (myHealthPointe), Allscripts (FollowMyHealth), Intelichart (Patient Portal), and Getwell Network (Loop). Research insights were presented in rows 2 and 3 (columns C-K) of the attached spreadsheet.

FINDINGS

RESEARCH STRATEGY

In order to identify companies engaging in patient navigator services similar to PxNav, your research team begun by searching top companies in the field by reviewing news and industry sources such as G2, and Patient Engagement HIT. Your research team engaged in additional research on the company websites of the identified firms to identify whether patient products identified have functions such as the ability to manage patient engagement, track appointments, send patient reminders, manage clinic check-ins, track insurance benefits, create workflows for navigators, offer patient pharmacy pick-up and potentially to assist in financial reconciliation/payments for care. Importantly, we prioritized the identification of patient navigator products/firms that were based in the United States. Consequently, we selected nine companies from those identified from the research and presented the research insights in rows 2 and 3 (columns C-K) of the attached spreadsheet.

The research team has provided the required information concerning the PX Nav competitors in the attached spreadsheet, rows 4-10, columns C-E. Below is an overview of our findings.

EPIC SYSTEMS

OVERVIEW

  • This company helps to develop, design, and produce software for living healthy.
  • Also, the company offers various management software to the community hospitals, children’s organizations, retail clinics, skilled nursing, integrated delivery networks, rehab centers, among others.
  • This company also offer additional services such as project implementation, training, technical services, ongoing services, performance improvement, among others.

ATHENA HEALTH

OVERVIEW

  • Athenahealth helps to develop software for healthcare professionals to alleviate the problems and challenges faced by them.
  • This company aimed to achieve its purpose through interoperability approach, Athenahealth network, improved efficiency, client support, among others.
  • The company’s interoperability approach helps to keep healthcare professionals connected. This approach also helps to automate healthcare professionals duties to improve efficiency and reduce workload.

MEDHOST

OVERVIEW

RESEARCH STRATEGY

To address the research request, our initial approach was to search through the websites of the Epic System, AthenaHealth, and MEDHOST to identify their profiles, capabilities, competitive advantage and branding, brand messaging, target market, products and services, and pricing models of these companies. Here, we were able to determine each of the companies' capabilities, competitive advantages, the brand messaging, target market, products, and services. We were unable to determine the pricing models for the three companies mentioned above through this strategy.

Next, we scoured through each of the companies' white papers, blogs, and newsroom to determine their pricing models. Again, we could not identify the companies' pricing model through this strategy. We also searched through third party reports and articles such as CNN, PRNewswire, Business News Daily, Forbes among others, to identify the pricing models for the provided companies. Here, we were able to retrieve the pricing models for Epic System and AthenaHealth, but we could not retrieve the pricing model for MEDHOST through this strategy.

Furthermore, we endeavored to search for MEDHOST pricing model by looking into various company profiling databases such as Pitchbook, Bloomberg, Crunchbase, among others. Here, we were able to identify the status of the company, revenue, and competitors, but no information was found on the company's pricing models. A report revealed that MEDHOST has not provided pricing information for its product or service and that it is common for software vendors and service providers not to publish their pricing models and advised that we obtain the current pricing by directly contacting MEDHOST to get the company's pricing model. Therefore, we assumed that the pricing model for MEDHOST is not available on public data.

RESEARCH STRATEGY

We began our research by looking into the companies' websites. We were able to find information on the companies. Unfortunately, we were unable to provide pricing for services and products of Cerner and Netsmart. We looked into each company's website with the hope that we will find this information but there was no page directly quoting prices.
We proceeded to research credible websites and publications such as G2, Capterra, Seniorly, and others in search of articles revealing the price of services offered by the two companies. This too failed as the information was not available. We went ahead and tried to find clients of each of these companies with the hope that they made public the prices they paid but we did not manage to find their clients. We came to the conclusion that these companies do not make public the prices of services they offer because services offered differ depending on the client.
