Prospecting Categories for Morton Salt - Pork Rinds

The top ten largest pork rinds manufacturers in the United States by revenue have been provided in the "pork rinds" tab of the attached spreadsheet.

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS

  • The largest pork rinds manufacturer by annual revenue in the US is Frito-Lay ($125 million).
  • Some of the marketing officers listed in the spreadsheet also have ' Manager' in their titles.
  • The ten pork rinds products manufacturers listed in the spreadsheet own one to three pork rinds brands.

RESEARCH STRATEGY

To determine the ten largest pork rinds manufacturers by revenue in the US, the research team began by examining reports published by industry leaders, whereby we found a report by BakeryandSnacks ranking the top pork rinds companies by revenue. The research team then visited each company's website to identify the sub-brands of pork rinds product manufacturers. Lastly, reputable social networking platforms like LinkedIn were used to obtain information about the marketing/licensing directors and their contact information. However, we were unable to identify the head of some companies even after an exhaustive search in the companies' websites, on LinkedIn or in news articles. The reason for this could be because the companies are small and may not have heads of departments. For the companies that we were able to identify the head of departments, we were unable to identify their individual contact details, however we have provided the phone numbers of the respective companies.

Prospecting Categories for Morton Salt - Savory Sauces

The top ten savory sauce manufacturers in the US are Kraft Heinz Co, McCormick & Co Inc, Campbell Soup Co, Unilever Group, PepsiCo Inc, Mizkan Group Corp, The Clorox Co, ConAgra Brands Inc, Strauss Group Ltd, and The JM Smucker Company. The complete details for this request can be found in this spreadsheet.

    KEY FINDINGS

    • Kraft Heinz Co, McCormick & Co Inc, and Campbell Soup Co are the top three companies in sauce manufacturing, with a shared 24% market share.
    • The sauce industry is dominated by American companies.

    RESEARCH STRATEGY

To determine the top ten savory sauce manufacturers suitable for a partnership with Morton Salt, your research team conducted a three-step strategy.

First, we examined market research about the savory sauce industry, which gave us a preliminary list of ten savory sauce manufacturers. After conducting further research into each company listed, we realized that two of the companies had merged, and so we looked for a final tenth savory sauce company. We looked for a savory sauce company with a minimum annual revenue $500 million, which seemed like the appropriate bottom limit given our previous research, and operations in the US, and thus identified The JM Smuckers Company.

LinkedIn was the primary source of the names and titles of marketing directors for each of these companies. Through LinkedIn's company search function, we easily identified marketing directors for each company.

Finally, we looked for the email and phone numbers of each of the identified employees. To do this, we checked their LinkedIn pages, but none of the identified employees had phone numbers or emails posted there. Next, we checked databases like RocketReach and Zoom Info. From these sources, we found almost all the emails and phone numbers for the employees. Our next strategy was to check social media accounts for this information; we searched Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and looked for personal websites for each of the remaining employees. While this search yielded some further details, the results still lacked complete contact information for Noa Hasegawa, Stan King, Melissa Price, Rachel Seeger, and Ali Brown. So, we searched for company directories or hierarchy charts for each of their employers. Part of this search included looking for assistants to these employees, whose contact information could serve as a substitute for an email or phone number. Unfortunately, this final strategy failed to reveal helpful results. Ultimately, this failure is understandable given that that information is usually guarded as private.

Prospecting Categories for Morton Salt - Bath Care

The top 10 manufacturers of bath care products in the US by revenue are Limited Brands, Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, L'Oreal, Unilever, Colgate-Palmolive, Avon, Coty, Estee Lauder, and Shisedo. The following companies are listed from the highest in revenue to the lowest:

    RESEARCH STRATEGY

In order for us to determine the top manufacturers of bath care products in the US by revenue, we analyzed several "top" lists taken from websites such as Marketwatch, Marketstudyreport, BeautyPackaging, etc. We then cross-referenced the articles in order for us shortlist the top manufacturers. We then looked at each manufacturer in-depth and check the revenues for each of these companies. We are then able to provide a list of the top 10 manufacturers of bath care in the US with the highest revenues.

In order to find out the details of the marketing or licensing director for each of the listed companies, we first started to look at each of the companies' websites. This however failed to yield good results. We then turned our attention to LinkedIn, where we had a measurable amount of success getting the names of the directors for each company as well as additional useful information.

From the list of names, we were able to extract the marketing directors' contact information by using contact search tools such as Anymailfinder, Rocket Reach, and Hunter. While we were able to find the email addresses for all 10 of the marketing and licensing directors, we are only able obtain three phone numbers. It is likely that the personal nature of this information is why it is not accessible to the public. We therefore entered "N/A" on the spreadsheet for information not found. After finding all the required data, we were then able to populate the attached spreadsheet with the requested information.

Prospecting Categories for Morton Salt - Skincare

The top 10 manufacturers of skincare products in the US by revenue are L'Oreal SA, Unilever, Estee Lauder Companies Inc., The Procter & Gamble Co., Coty Inc., Shiseido, Johnson & Johnson, L Brands, Colgate-Palmolive and Kose USA. We have provided information on these manufacturers including their skincare sub-brands and their marketing directors' information in rows 4 to 13, columns A to F in the "Skincare" tab of the attached spreadsheet.

TOP 10 MANUFACTURERS OF SKINCARE PRODUCTS IN THE US BY REVENUE

    RESEARCH STRATEGY

We started our research by looking for publicly available lists of the top manufacturers of skincare products in the US. We were able to find a report by Market Study Report, which listed four of the top skincare manufacturers in the US: Estee Lauder Companies Inc., Johnson & Johnson, L'Oreal SA and The Procter & Gamble Co. In an additional source, Beauty Packaging, we were able to find a list of the top 20 beauty manufacturers globally, together with their revenues. We filtered this list by checking which of the manufacturers are based in the US or have operations in the US, and have skincare sub-brands. Thus, we were able to come up with a list of the top 10 manufacturers of skincare products in the US by revenue. We then scoured the company websites for information on the skincare sub-brands for each of the manufacturers.

In order to find the details of the marketing directors for each manufacturing company, we started by looking through the company websites. However, this did not yield any useful information as the only contact information available was that of the companies in general. We then checked LinkedIn, where we were able to find the names of the marketing directors of all the companies except Kose USA, because this individual was not in our LinkedIn networks. We were, however, able to find the title of Kose USA's marketing director.

Next, we searched for the marketing directors' contact information by using contact finding tools such as Hunter and Rocket Reach. Within the limits of these websites, we were only able to find contact information for the marketing directors of Estee Lauder Companies Inc. and Johnson & Johnson. The rest of the information can only be accessed on Rocket Reach with a paid subscription. We have therefore entered 'N/A' on the spreadsheet for the contact details of the other companies' marketing directors. Our findings can be found in the attached spreadsheet.

    USEFUL FINDINGS

    • Hair care is considered as part of the Cosmetics Market.

YOUR RESEARCH TEAM APPLIED THE FOLLOWING STRATEGY

In order to either find out the market share of the leading haircare companies and then multiply their share with the overall market size, or to find out the names of the leading players in the US haircare market, we looked into market research sources and press release aggregators such as Markets and Markets, Marketresearch, Mordor Intelligence, GM Insights, Technavio etc and sources such as Globe Newswire, PR News wire, Businesswire etc. We also looked into sources that were reports on the industry published by reputed consultancies such as PWC, Deloitte, Nielsen, Euro Monitor etc. However, these reports covered the cosmetics segment as a whole and not haircare as a stand-alone category since the haircare products were manufactured by companies who were into the overall cosmetics business. Therefore, the revenue wise ranking of manufacturers of haircare products in the US could not be found.

Our team also looked into annual reports, investor presentations, White papers, Research papers published by companies such as L'Oreal, Estee Lauder, and Avon which were into manufacturing the Hair Care products. Our aim was to find out whether they reported any segmental revenue for the hair care segment or the market share of it. It was also looked into possible reportings of close competitors of these companies or any comparative data where they bench marked their performance in relation to the other companies involved in this segment. However, these companies being very large multinationals with several product categories and brands in their portfolio such segmental performance data could not be obtained.

We looked into possible ranking of haircare manufacturers in sources such as refinery29, verge, vogue or purely business sources such as Business Insider, Forbes etc. Although some of these sources contained rankings of haircare products, they were not based on revenue. While sources such as Gartner ranked companies on the scale of unrelated parameters such as Digital IQ, some sources ranked on purely subjective basis without giving any hint into how the companies were ranked. We also looked into the e-commerce portals of Amazon, Walmart, Target etc. Although these sources contained best-selling lists, the list could not be extrapolated to the level of the highest revenue generating manufacturers since the best-selling lists were prepared for individual products and not all products of the category. Also, the lists were volatile since best-selling lists in sites such as Amazon changed on an hourly basis.

As regards contact information, despite our efforts we were not able to find data. Our first strategy was to look into contact databases such as Hunter, Rocket reach, Zoominfo, etc which provides mail ids of executives. While most of the mail ids were available, the contact numbers were not available presumably due to the confidentiality of direct contact lines for these high level executives.
Our second strategy was to check professional networking sites like LinkedIn as sometimes executives provide their contact numbers there. We also looked into whether they provided any link to their blogs or personal websites where they may have their number. However, apart from the company's generic customer contact no, no such extra information could be found.
Our third strategy was also to check company website as sometimes phone numbers (direct or indirect) to reach the executives are available along with profiles in company websites. We also looked into any press release or event announcement issued by these executives to check whether they had any phone number mentioned in their address line. However, no such information could be found for marketing guys and were mostly available for analyst relations or media relations executives.

Prospecting Categories for Morton Salt - OTC Healthcare

Some of the top manufacturers of over-the-counter healthcare products in the United States by revenue include Bayer, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Procter & Gamble, etc.

Some of the findings have been presented below. The link to the spreadsheet is here.

The Top OTC Healthcare Manufacturers in the United States

    1. Bayer

    2. Johnson & Johnson

    3. Pfizer

    4. Procter & Gamble

    RESEARCH STRATEGY

Despite an extensive search, we were unable to find the contact/telephone number of the marketing/licensing director of each company. Our first strategy was to look into the official website of individual companies. However, we only found the contact number of the company. Subsequently, we went through the individual profiles of all the Marketing Directors of the OTC manufacturing companies on LinkedIn. But, there was no contact information available.

Further, we used finding tools like zoominfo, rocketreach, and other similar sites for the required data. This strategy was not fruitful as the entire information about a person could only be accessed after subscription. Since the contact number of the Marketing Directors of the OTC manufacturing companies was not available, we provided the companies' contact number as a proxy.

The top ten manufacturers of chips in the US ranked by their annual revenue from this market are Frito Lay, Kellogg, Snyder's Lance, UTZ Quality Foods, Barcel USA, Truco Enterprises, Herr Foods, Campbell Soup Co., Diamond Foods, Inc., and Mission Foods. SOME OF THE TOP MANUFACTURERS OF CHIPS IN THE US

    FRITO LAY

    KELLOGG

    SYNDER'S LANCE

    UTZ QUALITY FOODS

    RESEARCH STRATEGY

We commenced our research by first conducting a direct search for top manufacturers of chips in the US based on revenue. We searched through various industry reports and news journals including MarketWatch, IBIS World, and Bakery and Snacks. Through this research, we found various reports on top manufacturers of chips in the US based on their revenue. We then cross-referenced each report and sorted out those ten manufacturers of chips in the US that generated the highest revenue in this market. For information regarding the Marketing or Licensing Director, we reviewed the official websites of the companies found along with databases including LinkedIn.
Through this research, we were able to gather names and contact details for most of the companies but there were some companies for which we could gather information specifically related to the Marketing or Licensing Director.

We then attempted to look for social media handles of the companies hoping to get any related information or mention of the names and contact details of the Directors of different fields. Following the same approach, we searched through Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram as available for those companies. Unfortunately, most of the companies didn't publicize any information regarding their employees on social media.

As none of the above strategies yielded any useful results, we then searched through private companies' email finder tools including Rocketreach as these tools are likely to provide paywalled information of employees including their contact details and title. Unfortunately, this research yielded information regarding other officials of the companies excluding the Director of Marketing or Licensing.

After exhausting all the above strategies, we could not gather the Marketing/Licensing Director information for some companies. The most probable reason for the unavailability of such information could be because the companies are small and may not have heads of departments.

    RESEARCH STRATEGY:

We couldn't find any employee information for Snack Factory and Annie's Homegrown and also contact details for some marketing executives.

First, we started our search by scanning each company website, where we hoped to find information about top executives in marketing and their contact details. Unfortunately, none of this web pages had any marketing employees listed.

Next, we searched through LinkedIn, Crunchbase, ZoomInfo and other business databases hoping that we will find information about marketing executives and their contact details. While these pages did provide information for some listed companies, there was no still no data found for the Snack Factory, TH Foods and Annie's Homegrown.

After that, we scanned various news, press releases and similar publications including Business Wire, PR Newswire, Bloomberg among others where we wanted to find if there were any marketing executives from the listed companies mentioned. Articles on these websites often mention members of the marketing team and their contact details. We only found the general phone number for Snyders-Lance Inc and news about some listed companies, but there were no marketing executives or their contact details on any of these pages.

We also tried looking for contact details and names of the marketing executives at RocketReach, ContactOut and other sources. This approach provided us with emails and phone numbers for some marketing directors, but we still didn't have information for all the listed companies.

Finally, we decided to add general contact information as helpful findings for some listed companies and for Annie's Homegrown we added a marketing executive from their parent company General Mills.
