Potential Medical Identity Theft Alert Products

We were able to find that IdentityForce Secure, ID Watchdog Plus, Identity Protect by Intellus, LifeLock Ultimate Plus, Identity Fraud Gold, IDFreeze by myFICO, and ID Shield offer medical id theft services. There are other products that offer the medical id theft protection but not all companies have it listed. For more information please see the attached spreadsheet.

METHODOLOGY

We began by searching for any precompiled lists on the best identity theft products that include medical id theft alerts. We found a few lists after reviewing the Consumer Affairs, Top Ten Reviews, and No Identity Theft websites. From those lists, we removed companies based on meeting the medical theft alert criteria. We were left with IdentityForce Secure, ID Watchdog Plus, Identity Protect by Intellus, LifeLock Ultimate Plus, Identity Fraud Gold, IDFreeze by myFICO, and ID Shield. The release date was not listed in any of the lists. None of the list had anything about the alert trigger words either.
Next, we reviewed each company’s website to look for a release date on the products we listed. None of the websites listed the launch date for the identity theft products. They listed features, FAQs, etc., but none of that info was useful to find the launch date. Although the features listed mentioned when consumers would get an alert no info was available about the actual triggers that cause an alert.

As a last resort we looked for any press releases on sites like PR Newswire, Newswire, PR, and Hub Spot. We found articles on some products that listed information like features and how they compared to other products but none of the sites listed launch date. As with the others, the features were listed but not in a way that provided the trigger situations that would cause an alert, not in detail. All the sources just mentioned suspicious activity or something being out of the norm.
