Please provide research advising if there are functioning apps that track food truck locations so consumers can find them in real time. I have seen a couple but they don’t seem to work in multiple markets. I would like a list of companies in this space and an assessment of their platforms.
Hello! Thanks for your request to provide a list of companies that developed food truck locator apps. The short version is that existing food truck locator apps include Food Truck Fiesta, Chicago Food Truck Finder, NYC Food Truck Finder, Roaming Hunger, Food Trucks In, TruckSpotting, Klickle, Tampa Bay Food Trucks, Food Truck Finder, and Mobile Nom. METHODOLOGY AND NOTES
I first examined the apps listed on Mobile Cuisine’s 3 Must-Have 2017 Food Truck Business Apps. This is the only credible list that was published over the last two years. As the article has listed only five food truck locators that are considered the best according to food truck owners, I conducted an online search to gather another five apps. I have focused on identifying apps that locate food trucks in the US. Apps such as Mobile Nom only serve the State of Pennsylvania, while Roaming Hunger allows users to locate food trucks in the US, Canada, Spain, France, Ireland, United Kingdom, and UAE. Food trucks are tracked differently on the apps listed on the spreadsheet. Food Truck Fiesta collates social media posts from the food trucks and places them on the map, while trucks listed on TruckSpotting are outfitted with tracking devices together with an application that would allow anyone to find them. Chicago and NYC Food Truck Finder and FoodTrucksIn.com “apps” could only be used on web browsers (desktop and mobile) and the number of users is not published on their websites or trusted media sites.
