It says that "these people come from more than 60 countries, including 58% from Asia and 28.5% from Europe." Forbes also reports that according to the country’s Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, "there are some 74,000 foreigners working in Vietnam."
EMPLOYMENT TRENDS IN VIETNAM
Going Global reports that Vietnam’s economy "needs foreign workers to plug skill gaps in many areas," particularly technology and banking. According to the report, it is estimated that approximately 77,000 foreign nationals work in Vietnam with a high demand for workers in the technology and banking industries. Reportedly, the majority of immigrants are from China, Indonesia, South Korea, and Thailand but there are numerous undocumented manual laborers that are also working in the city.
POPULATION OF HO CHI MINH CITY
It is reported that there are 90 million people in Vietnam. Most of them are very young – average age is listed as 30 years old. Viet Nam boasts one of the youngest demographics in the region. Of that 90 million, CIA World Fact Book records the population of Ho Chi Minh City as an estimated 7.3 million in 2017.
