Please create a spreadsheet for the top 10 arms dealers...

Hello! Thank you for your request to create a spreadsheet for the top arms dealers. The short version is that Lockheed Martin Corp., Boeing, BAE Systems, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman Corp., General Dynamics Corp., Airbus Group, United Technologies, Leonardo Spa (formerly Finmeccanica) and L-3 Communications makes the top ten arm suppliers.

On the attached Google spreadsheet, I have provided two separate sheets. The first contains information about the top ten arms suppliers while the second sheet contains a breakdown of military spend by country.

I began by looking at the database of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). I scour the website for data on the worldwide military spending by country and top arms suppliers. I carefully extracted all necessary information in an excel sheet by sorting and sifting through the data. The data from SIPRI were from 2002 to 2015. Next, I conducted a search on Google using a combination of keywords and strings to extend the years to cover the 9/11 period. I ranked each country based on their military spend while I ranked the arms suppliers on their defence revenue. Furthermore, I researched the companies financial report to obtain the 2016 annual revenue and then used Owler to get an estimate for the number of employees for each arms suppliers.

The first sheet in the attached Google spreadsheet is titled "Top Ten Arms Supplier".

The attachment contains data on the following;

- Name of Arms Contractor
- Principal
- Country of Ownership
- Number of Employees
- Defence Revenue (2000 - 2015)
- Gross Defence Revenue (2000 - 2015)
- 2016 Annual Revenue
- Market Capitalisation
- Sources

The second sheet which is titled "Highest Military Spend by Country" contains;

- Country
- Amount Spent (2000 - 2016)
- Gross Spent (2000 - 2016)

You might also want to look at the top 100 arms supplier by revenue.

According to an article in the Economist, The United States spent 3.6% of its GDP on defence in 2016. The percentage is far above the 2% of GDP agreed by all NATO members. The UK and France rank second and third respectively by military spending among NATO members.

To wrap it up, I have provided in this attached Google spreadsheet, the top ten arms suppliers and a breakdown of military spend by country .
