Please build a list of the TOP 50 OTT services (Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc) out there, ranked by number of subscribers. Please note if they are global or local (e.g. Hulu only available in the U.S) and where available the content spend (e.g. Netflix is reportedly investing USD 8bn+ next year).
Hello! Thanks for asking Wonder for the top 50 OTT services, ranked by number of subscribers. In short, I was able to locate data for 19 OTT platforms in the time frame for a typical Wonder response. If you would like us to continue searching for data on additional companies, please submit a new request, and we'd be delighted to pick up where we left off. Below, please find an overview of my research, along with my methodology. The full details of my research can be found in the attached spreadsheet.
METHODOLOGY
I've searched for pre-compiled lists of the data you requested, but no such lists were available. I located a few lists of top OTT platforms, which gave me names to research but offered none of the specific data you requested. So, I used these lists to search the individual companies for the data you requested and compiled as much of that data into your provided spreadsheet as was feasible within a normal Wonder response time frame.
I used several lists from Variety, Parks Associates, and Technavio to locate names of services to investigate further. I provided as much of the requested data (subscribers, revenue, and content spend) as was publicly available, though I was unable to find all three figures for every company. Another article provided a few subscriber numbers for smaller entities, but no revenue or content spend data. Please note that Acorn TV and Urban Movie Channel are on the same line of the spreadsheet because their data was combined in the article I found.
