How many people typically purchase a gift off of someone's baby registry?
Hi, and thank you for asking Wonder to help you find the number of people who typically purchase a gift off of a baby registry. The most useful sources I found were RookieMom and BabyList. I will attempt to answer the question that was missing from the original response. I have added some information on the average price of a gift for a baby shower that you may find interesting.
RESULTS
Using statistics found on Rookie Moms, I was able to calculate the average number of items per registry list (400,000 items total listed on the Baby List website, divided by 8,000 total registries = 50 items per average list). Baby List also provides information that can be used to calculate the total number of gifts purchased off of a registry (55,000 gifts purchased, divided by 8,000 total registries = 6.8).
Using the above calculations for average number of items purchased per registry (6 to 7), and comparing them to guest list size for average baby shower found on baby etiquette sites (around 8-10 guests considered average, can range between 5-25), we can safely estimate each registry list is used by around 7 people to purchase gifts.
According to What to Expect the average amount spent on a gift for a baby shower depends on your relationship with that person. Close family averages on $150 -$300 for a gift. People will spend about $50-$75 for a close friend and $30 for a casual acquaintance.
CONCLUSION
I hope that has answered your question satisfactorily. The amount will always be an estimate as the exact data is not recorded online.
