Overview - Aftermarket Elevator Parts: US Distributors

While there is no pre-existing information to fully answer your question, we have utilized the available data to pull together some key findings. We have identified five companies in the United States that are distributors of aftermarket elevator parts, including Adam's Elevator Parts (which provides hydraulic packing kits), KONE Spares, CED Elevator and Electrical, Lift Solutions, and TEPCO. We have compiled all the publicly available information on these companies that might be pertinent to your project. Below you will find a discussion of our methodology, which will enable you to better understand why the requested information is publicly unavailable.

Methodology

In order to determine the major distributors of aftermarket elevator parts in the United States, my colleagues and I searched extensively through market research reports to determine any pre-compiled lists of the largest distributors and/or their respective market share in this industry. We did not identify any pre-determined research on this topic, likely because there are a vast number of distributors in the United States. As a result, the industry appears to be highly fragmented, and there is no cohesive body of research that determines the "major" distributors. Additionally, because these distributors are private companies, they are not required to publicly disclose their revenue information. We then researched financial databases and publications from industry insiders that might allow us to determine some of the largest distributors of aftermarket elevator parts by estimated annual revenues, but this approach also did not produce meaningful data. As a result, we were unable to compile a list of major distributors in the United States, nor were we able to determine market share and estimate gross margin due to the lack of publicly available revenue data. However, we were able identify five aftermarket elevator part manufacturers that may be of interest to you, as well as key information about their product lines and geographical coverage (when available). This list is presented below, in order of the size of each company's product line, when publicly available.

1. Adam's Elevator Parts

Adam's Elevator Parts offers an extensive collection of aftermarket elevator parts, and they have the broadest of collection of parts identified for this project. Founded in 1930, Adam's Elevator Parts has evolved into one of the largest distributors of elevator parts in the United States. Although we were unable to determine that Adam's Elevator Parts is a major distributor based on revenue, we did determine that they are likely a major distributor based on volume. Adam's Elevator Parts offers approximately 50,000 stock keeping units (SKUs), with a product line covering 20,000 parts in the warehouse. As a result, Adam's Elevator Parts is likely have a part that fits the needs of any type of elevator. Adam's Elevator Parts is the only company identified in this project that is also a manufacturer of hydraulic packing kits. The corporate office is located in Niles, Illinois, but we were unable to identify geographical coverage for this company.

2. CED Elevator and Electrical

Founded in 1957, the Consolidated Electrical Distributions (CED) Elevator and Electical Company is a large firm that began manufacturing and distributing elevator parts in 1999. Geographical coverage is extensive, with offices spanning across most of the United States. These locations include Grand Prairie, Texas (Southern division); Long Beach, California (Western division); Enfield, Connecticut (Eastern division); and Columbia, Maryland (Mid-Atlantic division). The company has about 8,000 items in its product line covering four broad categories: service/repair, modernization, new construction, and special products. A full list of products is available online, and it is noted that OED Elevator and Electrical is also a supplier of Adam's Elevator Parts.

3. KONE Spares

Though wholly owned by the KONE Elevator Company, KONE Spares provide elevator parts for KONE branded products and for other companies. KONE Spares carries aftermarket parts for all major elevator brands, including KONE, Montgomery, O&K, Armor, MAC, Otis, Schindler, Dover, and ThyssenKrupp. The product line includes "KONE V3F16L elevator drive replacement parts, Formula Vision Safescreens,MAC and AMD door equipment, Siemens starter logic boards, advanced elevator-rated soft-starters, and obsolete Vector hall pushbutton station replacements." Corporate headquarters are in Moline, Illinois, but it appears that KONE Spares has national coverage, as they ship to locations throughout the United States.

4. Lift Solutions

Lift Solutions is an emerging company, founded in 2002. With corporate headquarters in Lake Stevens, Washington, Lift Solutions has offices throughout the United States, which indicates the company has nationwide coverage. The product line includes elevator cabs, controllers, operator packages, jacks, motors, filler weights, door, and others.

5. TEPCO

TEPCO was founded 1985, and the company prides itself on finding obsolete and hard-to-find parts, including aftermarket elevator replacement parts. Corporate headquarters are in Aurora, Colorado.
TEPCO's product line includes contact kits, fuses, lamps and miniature bulbs, rollers, and many more. Products are available for a wide variety of elevator manufacturers.

Conclusion

While the aftermarket elevator parts industry is highly fragmented in the United States and there is no publicly available information that allows us to determine the top distributors (nor their relevant financial data), we identified five distributors of aftermarket elevator parts that may be of interest to you. These companies include Adams Elevator Parts, KONE Spares, CED Elevator and Electrical, Lift Solutions, and TEPCO.
