My method of linking videos thus had to be both objective and subjective. The objectivity stems simply from view counts for that implies some level of cultural engagement.
Subjectivity stems from how videos were chosen. Vice has several videos that fit your criteria exactly. However, simply including five Vice videos would’ve been an unideal approach. I opted to include videos from a variety of sources as to offer a comprehensive picture of the landscape. I used the recommendations along with my own prior knowledge of the content to find YouTube channels likely to post news content as well as have highly viewed videos.
Some videos have millions of views while not reaching 10 million. This is endemic to the news criteria listed. To create a video that is both substantive and highly viewed is difficult. Vice found an excellent formula for covering topics that can instantly pique one’s interest, such as their well-known North Korea series. On the other hand, the venerable New York Times and even the New Yorker both have informative video content, but they’re nowhere near as viewed as other content on their channels. For the Times, an advertisement, a video on a “nipple artist,” and the full Obama and Romney debate, all outclass the first video which matches your criteria by millions of views. The Young Turks and Slate produce content that is similar to the videos linked with your request, however, some of them lack correspondents that appear on camera as opposed to just narrating.

The five videos linked are from different sources with variations in style but mostly fit your criteria. While the views may not all be 10 million or higher, I’ve found that videos fit your criteria less and generally become more like “clickbait” the higher you go in views. These videos are a good representation of the scope of your request, however.
