New Events for Teenagers: Los Angeles

A few examples of new events for teenagers this summer in the Los Angeles area include St. Paul's Summer HOOPS Camp Session I — Boys, Crossroads Christian School Soccer Camp, and Target: Cancer a Charity Archery Tournament. A comprehensive list of ten events is included below, along with a research methodology.

We began by examining top events intelligence vendors such as Eventbrite along with other events databases, including LA County Library, Discover Los Angeles, and L.A. Parent. These sources provided several events scheduled for the months of June through July. We examined each source and found out that Los Angeles parent lists events focused on family activities, Discover Los Angeles primarily lists festivals and concerts, and LA County Library focuses on academic-related events and study programs, and Eventbrite features comprehensive lists of events and filters that allow users to search based on location, demographics, category, i.e., sports, retreat, travel, etc.

Eventbrite also provided a review of past events, which allowed us to examine whether the upcoming events were held in the past. In this regard, we proceeded to examine events listed on Eventbrite by filtering based on location, demographics, time, and category (sports and fitness and health and well-being). We also ensured that the events selected are happening in (June through August) and in the Los Angeles area. Through this approach, we managed to create the list of ten new events for teenagers this summer in the Los Angeles area as presented below.

New Events for Teenagers: New York City

The new events for teenagers in the New York City area this summer include BBYO Soccer Tournament; Stranger Awareness Class/ Self Defense Class; Teen Ice Cream Making Class; Teen Dance Showcase; NYC Dance With Youth And Teen Hip Hop; Pump and Run; Wild Adirondacks Trip; Africa Diaspora Dance Class; Kitten Yoga; Teen Anti Bullying Self Defense Class; and GKPT Weekend Warrior Training.

Research methodology

In order provide a list of new events for teenagers this summer in the New York City area, we commenced our research by scanning through databases related to events organizing and events marketing databases such as EventBrite and Universe among others. We focused only on events that will be available during summer of 2019, specifically between June and August 2019, hosted around NYC. We refined our search results by filtering events that targets teenagers (aged 12-17), but could be for those aged 12-15, or 10+ as long as teens are the primary audience; involve physical activities; and are not recurring annual events.

To ensure that we only provided events that are not recurring annual events, we had to scan through the "Past Event History" of the organizer to determine if such events were organized in the past. If we didn't find any previous history of an event, such as Mind-Body-Spirit Martial Arts that never held Teen Stranger Awareness Class/Self-Defense Class and Teen Anti Bullying Self Defense Class events before, we included the event as a first time or one-time event in our list. For the BBYO Soccer Tournament, we searched for the history of the event through the official website of the organizer since no history was available through EventBrite providing details of the events. Through our search, we were able to determine that the event has never been held previously.
