I am needing a database spreadsheet of all of the fleet management software providers and telematics solutions providers (please specify in the spreadsheet) in the United States. For each solution provider, I need to know: 1) Whether it is a telematics or software solution or both 2) High-level solutions provided 3) Whether the solution provides: Telematics, smart phone-based GPS tracking or no tracking provided 4) Pricing 5) Revenue

Some types of fleet management software are focused on customer contacts and routing while others are concerned with payroll, billing, vehicle maintenance and driver logs. Many software companies like GPS Insight, Fleetio and Omnitracs use GPS for gathering and sending real-time telematics data from fleet vehicles to desktops and/or smartphone apps. Overall, the companies have a variety of pricing structures including flat-fee monthly and yearly plans and some that are billed by the number of drivers or vehicles in the fleet. Revenue for the companies found in this research ranges from $360,000 for Truck Logistics to $31.9 million for GPS Insight.

FINDINGS

We found a pre-compiled list of fleet management software companies at FuelLoyal. Although the list title says they are all US companies, I came across a few that are in Canada. I researched and gathered the requested information for the first 12 US companies on the list. This is the most I could do within the 3-hour timeframe of a single Wonder request, including setting up the spreadsheet and initial research to learn about the industry. I captured the information on the companies on this Google spreadsheet. If you would like more spreadsheet entries, please feel free to submit a new request and we will be glad to pick up where we left off.
I used the explanation of telematics on the Fleetmatics website to understand what it is and why it is used. Among the things I learned are:
• Broadly, the term telematics means “Sending, receiving and storing information relating to remote objects like vehicles via telecommunication devices.”
• Telematics is just one component of fleet management.
Fleetmatics is the specific term used for telematics using GPS.
For clarity, in Column B of the spreadsheet, “Both” means the company has fleet management software and some form of remote vehicle data tracking. If the company says it uses GPS for their data tracking, that is noted in Column D. And, as was requested, I noted specifically in Column D if the company has smartphone-based GPS tracking.
Some companies that are privately owned did not have revenue information on sites such as Owler, Crunchbase or Hoover’s and I was not able to find any financial data from press searches. In addition, some companies ask that you contact them for pricing information. In those cases, I included their phone, email and/or a link to their online contact form in Column E.

CONCLUSION

To summarize, revenue for the fleet management and telematics companies found in this research ranges from $360,000 for Truck Logistics to $31.9 million for GPS Insight. Overall, the companies have a variety of pricing structures including flat monthly and yearly plans and some billed by the number of drivers or vehicles in the fleet.
