I need a list of the top 5 investors in each of the following arenas: Hospitality, Food and Beverage, Real Estate NATIONALLY in the USA

Hello! Thank you for your request for us to provide a list of the top five investors in hospitality, real estate, and food & beverage in the United States. I understand that you would like the average investment, the portfolio, website, and the names of major individuals for each investor. The short answer is Blackstone Group is the largest hospitality investor, CBRE Group is the largest real estate investor, and 301 Inc. (the venture arm of General Mills) is the largest food & beverage investor. I have provided a deep dive of my research on a spreadsheet for easy future access.

METHODOLOGY

To being my research, I performed a Google search for the largest hospitality investors. This led me to an article that said private equity firms are the biggest investors in the hospitality sector. The article specifically names Blackstone Group, Apollo Global Management, Oaktree Capital Group, TPG Capital IP, and Starwood Capital Group Management as the private equity firms that invest the most in the hospitality industry. I then researched these firms using their websites, Owler, Crunchbase, and NASDAQ filings, along with other sources that provide information on their portfolios, to confirm their leadership status in this investment category.

From there, I performed a Google search for the largest real estate investors in the United States, which led me to The Carlyle Group's website. I researched this company's website and used Owler to confirm this firm invests heavily in real estate. At this point, I used Owler to locate top competitors of The Carlyle Group to find other main investors in the real estate sector. I then carefully searched each company's website, Owler, and Crunchbase (if necessary) to ensure they met your requirements.

Finally, I performed a Google search for the largest food & beverage investors in the United States. This led me to Arbor Investments' website, where I used the portfolio page to confirm this company is a top investor in food & beverage. I then used Owler to find competitors of Arbor Investments. I also found an article on Food Business News' website that discussed how major food companies, like General Mills and the Campbell Soup Company are creating venture arms to invest in food & beverage startups. This led me to 301 Inc. and Cavu Venture Partners. Although Cavu Venture Partners is nowhere near as large as the other investors on the list, it is one of the most active venture groups currently investing in food & beverage startups, so I included it on the spreadsheet as well.

To determine the top investors in each sector, I used annual revenue since no other criteria were specified.

LIMITATIONS

I was unable to determine the average amount each investor invests in their respective sectors. The reason for this is because many investment amounts are not disclosed, particularly for private companies. Although I was able to find some investment amounts for some transactions, I was not able to locate enough data points to provide you with an average.

RESULTS

After completing my research, I found the top five United States investors in hospitality according to annual revenue are:

1. Blackstone Group, LP ($4 billion)
2. Apollo Global Management, LLC ($3.8 billion)
3. Oaktree Capital Group, LLC ($1.1 billion)
4. TPG Capital IP, LLC ($509.5 million)
5. Starwood Capital Group Management, LLC ($289.2 million)

For investors in real estate, it is important to note that some of the top investors in hospitality are also top investors in real estate, including Blackstone group, Oaktree Capital Group, and Starwood Capital Group Management. To provide you with as many different investors as possible, I did not repeat these investors on the real estate list. Instead, I gave you the top five investors outside of the ones I included on the hospitality list according to annual revenue. These are

1. CBRE Group, Inc. ($12.2 billion)
2. Cushman & Wakefield ($5 billion)
3. The Carlyle Group ($1.9 billion)
4. Hines ($532.9 million)
5. HFF, Inc. ($496.4 million)

The top five United States investors in food & beverage according to annual revenue are:

1. 301 Inc. (the venture arm of General Mills) ($48.9 billion)
2. Castanea Partners ($23 million)
3. Catterton Partners ($10.9 million)
4. Arbor Investments ($7 million)
5. Swander Pace Capital ($3 million)

The bonus food & beverage investor I found and included because of its recent activity in the sector is:

Cavu Ventures Partners ($131 thousand)

CONCLUSION

I have included all available details for each of the above-mentioned investors in hospitality, real estate, and food & beverage in the attached spreadsheet.
