I need an extensive list/categories of 'mothers' there have been historically right up to present day & what these stand for. Examples include: soccer mom, tiger moms, ninja moms, helicopter mom, supermom...
Hello and thank you for asking Wonder! I understand that you are looking for a list of different mother categories, along with what they stand for. The most helpful sources I found were academic papers and relevant media articles. In short, mother types include the Soccer Mom, Helicopter Parent/Mom, Alpha Mom, Crunchy Mom, Free-Range Parent/Mom, Snow Plow Mom, Stage Mother, Kyōiku Mama, PTA Mom, and Tiger Mom. I have compiled this list, along with a description of each in terms of focus and activities, in the attached spreadsheet. Many of these types are related to each other, but of varying degrees.
METHODOLOGY
In order to compile this list, I reviewed numerous articles and studies on the topic. I then pulled out the types that came up most frequently in my research. Wherever possible, I used academic resources. However, due to how these terms tend to come about, other sources were used where necessary.
