How much money was invested in Venture Capital, in Total, every year between 2000 and 2015?

Greetings!

Thanks for you question regarding how much money was invested in Venture Capital every year between 2000 and 2015. I found some exact numbers on this subject, primarily from industry reports, and was able to draw a clear line in VC funding for those 15 years. Below you will find a deep dive of my findings.

METHODOLOGY

In order to provide you with the best possible answer, I conducted a search for an annual report of venture capital investments per each individual year. For 2015 to 2010 there was a report published by either CBInsights.com or the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA.org) outlining data from the U.S. venture capital industry for that year. When I got to 2009 and prior, I procured a chart published by Whitmer Hale featuring data from Dow Jones VentureSource, which charted venture capital financing in the U.S. from the years 1996 to 2009. Below, I have included figures for every year--2000 to 2015--as well as a figure at the end totaling those funds. Being that there was no region or location specified, I focused on the U.S. totals, as the U.S. VC industry was the only one with hard data immediately available for the last 15 years.

VENTURE CAPITAL INVESTMENTS IN THE U.S. FROM 2000-2015

2010- $23.7 billion

Total in 15 years = 548.9 billion
