Research Strategy
For this research on mobile app downloads, we have used the most notable and trustworthy sources. For the number of downloads, we used the android play store page of the apps. In the case of the iTunes store, the download figures were not visible on the app page. We used SensorTower's app analytics to provide monthly download figures instead.
The number of monthly active users for any of the selected apps was not found either on the corresponding app pages or app analytics websites. The number of monthly active users can not be calculated or triangulated by people who do not have access to app usage metrics. These datasets, however, are not available in the public domain.
No apps were found corresponding to Mobile and Valero. The research used the search function of various app stores but to no avail.
