What is the Mexico market-size (TAM) in number of vehicles for the Vehicle (trucks of different sizes, cars & motorcycles) fleet industry?

Hello! Thank you for your question regarding the market size of the number of vehicles for the Vehicle fleet industry in Mexico. In short, the vehicle fleet industry in Mexico consists of about 11.56 million vehicles of which 6 million are cars- Class A, Class B and Class C. There are about 443,058 fleet vehicles in Mexico that are medium and heavy duty trucks. Below you will find an explanation of the methodology and findings in detail.

METHODOLOGY
In order to answer your request, I mainly looked at statistics published by the government of Mexico in commercial vehicles category, and news articles about the fleet industry in Mexico. I was able to estimate the number of vehicles by category for cars - Class B and Class C, for trucks - Class C2, C3 and T2, T3. However, I was not able to obtain the number for other types of vehicles due to limited information available on public sources for the fleet industry.

FINDINGS
According to Automotive Fleet, the total number of fleet vehicles in Mexico is about 11.56 million. This is about 34% of the total number of vehicles in the country. Out of these, about 30% of the vehicles are owned by small fleet owners who own about 6-30 vehicles, 28.5% are owned by large fleet owners who own greater than 100 vehicles. These statistics can be found in the sheet named 1.3.1 in the excel which is downloadable here.

38% of the total fleet sales by units in 2015 in Mexico were Class B cars whereas Class C car sales contributed about 14%.

Assuming that these sales are reflective of the overall fleet industry sales as well, we can estimate that of the 11.56 million fleet vehicles, Class B cars contribute about 4.39 million (38% of 11.56 million) whereas Class C car segment contributes about 1.61 million (14% of 11.56 million). Thus, we obtain that about 6 million vehicles of the fleet industry in Mexico are cars.

From the report published by the transportation sector of Mexico (sheet named 1.1.4 in this link), we see that about 443,058 are commercial vehicles (trucks) falling in the classes C2, C3 and T2, T3, also called as Class 5,6 and Class 9,10 in American Vehicle classification terms. Class 5,6 are medium truck categories and 9,10 are heavy truck categories.

The Automotive Fleet article also mentions that Pickup D type of commercial vehicle is the fastest growing segment in this industry.
Thus, we can assume that Pickup D trucks, motorcycles and other classes of trucks and three-wheelers constitute the rest of the 5.12 million vehicles (11.56-6.44) fleet industry. Unfortunately, I was not able to segment this data further due to unavailability of information on the public sources.

CONCLUSION
To wrap up, the fleet industry in Mexico consists of about 11.56 million vehicles of which 6 million are cars- Class A, Class B and Class C. There are about 443,058 vehicles in Mexico's fleet industry which are medium and heavy duty trucks.
