    Rsearch STRATEGY

To find private wealth management companies in the United States that have between $50M and $250M in annual revenue and are not backed by private equity, we scoured through several lists of the top asset management firms such as Barron's Top 100 and Top 40 Wealth Advisors List, Wall Street Journal's ranking of the to Top 40 Wealth Management Firms in 2016, 2017, and 2018, CNBC's Top 100 Wealth Managers List, as well as IPE's top 400 asset management firms ranking to find top, US-based private wealth management companies that are not publicly traded. The lists were generally ranked by total asset under management. We couldn't always determine the revenue of most of the private companies that are not backed by private equity we found from those lists because they generally do not publish their revenue as they are private companies.
However, our research revealed that private wealth management firms generally charge about 1% of the Asset Under their management as fees annually. Hence, we focused on finding private wealth management companies that are not backed by private equity and that have between $5 billion and 25 billion in asset under management. For each wealth management company, we confirmed that they are privately owned, US-based, had revenue or estimated revenue between $50 and $250 million, and then ensure they were not backed by private equity.
