RESEARCH STRATEGY:

Our first strategy in this research was to consult global motion sensor market reports from reputable sources such as Markets and Markets in an effort to identify the US market size. We were able to find information regarding the global market size, US key players in the global market, and the market share for North America, but not the US market size.

The second strategy employed was to try to identify the US market share in the market for motion sensor security lighting from business news sources such as PR Newswire which would enable us to quickly calculate the US market size from the global market size. However, the relevant source on the topic was outdated (i.e. beyond the date range of this research but had a forecast that would've been applicable to 2019) and did not have any information regarding the US market.

We then decided to look for mentions of the US market or market share in the US global key players' annual reports, given that they are globally and nationally recognized, but we did not gather any relevant information that would give us the opportunity to triangulate the US market size. Consequently, we decided to expand the scope to look for US key players and their respective market caps, with the hope of finding information to facilitate a calculation of the US market size from North America's market. Through this method, we were able to identify the top five key manufacturers in motion sensor security lighting and their respective market caps, but no relevant information to calculate the US market size from North America's.

Since we were able to identify that North America accounts for 10% of the global market size and the majority of North America is the US, we decided to calculate this 10% as an estimate of the US market size because it is included in the North American market.

Calculation = 10% of $5.7 billion = .10 x 5.7 billion = 570 million

RESEARCH STRATEGY

Initially, we searched for any pre-compiled lists of top companies that manufacture motion sensor security lighting in the United States. As the criteria state that the companies should be reputable in terms of its revenue, or have a comparable metric of popularity when choosing the list, so we looked at technology websites such as Tech Radar, TechCrunch, TheNextWeb, and TheVerge. We also looked into business sites such as Forbes, Fortune, and Business Insider, along with research firms such as Deloitte, Forrester, and Gardner. We found an article titled “Top USA and International Motion Sensor Suppliers” by ThomasNet that gave the types of motion sensor suppliers, top 10 Motion sensor suppliers in the US and also the top global motion sensor suppliers. The article listed companies such as Analog Devices, Hillcrest Laboratories, Inc., NXP, KEMET, EPSON Murata Electronics North America, Omron Electronics Inc, Sharp Microelectronics, and Maxim," giving us an idea of the notable manufacturers. We then went further to search for their individual revenues/market shares using their annual reports. For the companies whose revenues were not provided in the annual report, we broadened the search by checking reputable databases such as Crunchbase, Hoovers, Craft, and Pitchbook.

Analog Devices had estimated annual revenue of $6.1billion, NXP has $4234.7M in estimated revenue annually and competes with Maxim, Kemet, and Analog. Maxim has $2.48B in estimated revenue annually; Kemet has an estimated annual revenue of $1.38billion. We compared these revenues to those of other motion sensor manufacturers not listed, to find out if there are other such companies with higher revenues or market shares. We did not find manufacturers with higher revenue. While the mention from ThomasNet helped us identify whose revenues to look at, we did some extra research to ensure that they were selected based on revenue and hence the suppliers/manufacturers chosen are the top based on their revenues and market shares. However, we could not use the above list categorically as it only gives the general revenue of the companies, which includes the sales of other products and other streams of revenue. The revenue information available was not specific to motion sensor security lighting.

Next, we looked for the financial statements and annual reports of the listed companies to get a breakdown of their revenue, and hence, determine the income generated from motion sensor security lighting alone, so we can use it as the revenue in the category and also attempt to obtain the market share for the category as well. We found the 2018 annual report and financial statement of Analog Devices, but there was no breakdown available for the sales of individual items or categories.

Also, we tried searching through the financial statements of other manufacturers in the motion sensor market, to get an idea of the annual revenues realized from motion sensor security lighting alone, as well as the market shares in this category. However, there was no such information available.

Afterward, we shifted our focus towards cross-referencing credible news sources, blogs, and press releases to uncover details about the annual revenues of the motion sensor companies specifically in the security lighting category, as well as the details regarding their market shares. We looked through local press sites like the Houston Chronicle and other outlets such as ESPN, Chron, and Business Insider, among others. The strategy yielded no relevant results, as what was available was on general topics concerning the motion sensor industry, growth, and size of the market.

We then adopted another strategy to consult existing platforms like Crunchbase and other sites like InfoUSA, Hoovers, and Owler, which have profile information for companies. We hoped to use the data available there to deduce the revenues of companies for the motion sensor security lighting category, as well as the market share. However, this information was not available.

Lastly, we sourced for any interviews recorded with the listed companies' executives from which we could get insights into their financials, endowments, and sales breakdown. While we found a mention of some companies in the Houston Chronicle, the comments were about the overall mission of the individual companies, as well as the new products and expansions that were planned for the last quarter of 2018. We did not find any relevant data for the revenue of the companies in the security lighting category, nor their market shares.

In conclusion, we could not find any information on the revenues of top motion sensor companies for the security lighting category, nor their market shares in that category. We resolved that this information was not available because the companies are private, and might not have documented a thorough breakdown of financial statements and annual reports. We also could not find any base year from which we could make assumptions, triangulate, draw conclusions, or make calculations to determine the revenues or market shares of the top motion sensor companies identified.

Retail Distribution: Motion Sensor Security Lighting

An exhaustive search through the public domain shows that the information on how the retail distribution look like for the U.S. Motion Sensor Security Lighting market is unavailable. Most of the relevant information is hidden behind the paywalls of various sources. We have entered "N/A" on this attached spreadsheet due to lack of information. Below are our helpful findings and explicit methodology.

HELPFUL FINDINGS

  • A report titled "Motion Sensor Lights Market 2019 Industry Size, Trends, Global Growth, Insights, and Forecast Research Report 2025" on Market Watch website contains a series of chapters that explore the following topics: 14.3 Sales Channels Analysis, 14.3.1 Sales Channels, and 14.3.2 Distributors.
  • A 2019 report called "Global Consumer Motion Sensor Market Analysis Report 2019-2024: Ashai Kasei Microelectronics, Bosch, Invensense, STMicroelectronics" on TriBaux website features three chapters that include details regarding "Consumer Motion Sensor Sales Channel, Distributors, Traders, Dealers, Research, Findings, Conclusion, Appendix, and Data Source".
  • PIR sensors are utilized for motion detection.
  • The “Global Outdoor Lighting Market: Analysis and Forecast (2018 – 2024)” report mentions that the “outdoor lighting market is segmented into the retail and commercial segment.”
  • The majority of customers looking to purchase smart home devices still opt for a retailer (although we are not told what type of retailer). Retailers are followed by security dealers and online-only dealers.
  • Amazon, BestBuy, Apple, Walmart, and HP Inc. are the top five retailers that people choose for consumer electronics purchases.

RESEARCH STRATEGY:

We began our search by going through the previous "Motion Sensor Security Lighting" request and analyzing the sources utilized to complete it. In doing so, we wanted to find out whether any of the reports quoted by the researcher included an analysis of market distribution. Unfortunately, the reports in question did not include any relevant information. Therefore, we continued our investigation by searching for Motion Sensor Security Lighting market reports that would include a retail distribution analysis. We discovered one relevant report that seems to address the question on motion sensor security lighting retail distribution. The report is called "Motion Sensor Lights Market 2019 Industry Size, Trends, Global Growth, Insights, and Forecast Research Report 2025" on Market Watch website, and it contains a series of chapters that explore the following topics: 14.3 Sales Channels Analysis, 14.3.1 Sales Channels, and 14.3.2 Distributors. However, the report is hidden behind a paywall. Furthermore, since this is a global report, we could not determine whether the chapters talk about the sales channels and distributors, the global market as a whole or whether they also include regional analyses. However, the potential customer can request a report sample to make sure that the market report covers his or her topic of interest.

Since our initial strategy did not reveal any useful information, we continued our search by expanding the scope of our research little by little. Therefore, since we couldn’t find anything new regarding motion sensor security lighting in specific, we decided to explore the motion sensor sector and the security lighting sector separately. We started by investigating the motion sensor market. This is how we came across a 2019 report, "Global Consumer Motion Sensor Market Analysis Report 2019-2024: Ashai Kasei Microelectronics, Bosch, Invensense, STMicroelectronics" on TriBaux website. This report is also hidden behind a paywall. We decided to mention it in our research because Chapters 13, 14, and 15 of the report have details regarding "Consumer Motion Sensor Sales Channel, Distributors, Traders, Dealers, Research, Findings, Conclusion, Appendix, and Data Source". The potential buyer can request a sample of the report to see if it addresses his or her questions. Wanting to be more specific in our search queries, we continued reading about the different types of sensors in order to find out what kind of sensors security lighting manufacturers prefer. We found out that, PIR sensors are often utilized for motion detection. Therefore, we attempted to search for PIR sensors retail distribution. However, we abandoned this initiative because we couldn’t find anything relevant to the purpose of our research.

Subsequently, we turned our attention to the security lighting part of the request. This is how we came across the “Global Outdoor Lighting Market Analysis and Forecast (2018 – 2024)” article on VYNZ Research website. This report is also hidden behind a paywall; however, in the Distribution Channel Insights section, it’s mentioned that the “outdoor lighting market is segmented into retail and commercial segment.” For further details, a potential customer would have to reach out to the report authors.

Since no additional details were publicly available, we continued by expanding the scope of our research to include sensor security devices. Unfortunately, this search did not produce any relevant results. Therefore, we expanded the scope of the research even further, and began investigating the smart security lights and smart security devices sectors. However, being thorough in our investigation, we could not identify any articles or reports addressing the topic of retail distribution in these sectors.

Therefore, we moved on to a different strategy. We began looking at consumer preferences instead. We wanted to find out where do customers go to purchase sensor lights, motion sensor devices, security devices, smart security devices, and smart home devices, in general. Although we conducted thorough research and closely looked at industry publications such as Security Sales & Integration, and tech experts such as Actiontec, our search did not reveal any significant results to match the request criteria. We found out that, in general, when it comes to purchasing channels that customers prefer for smart home devices purchases, the majority of customers still opt for a retailer (although we are not told what type of retailer). Retailers are followed by security dealers and online-only dealers.

Finally, we tried to address the request from a different angle. Here, we searched for top sensor lights retailers, top motion sensor devices retailers, top security devices retailers, top smart security devices retailers, and top smart home devices retailers, by revenue or sales. However, we could not uncover any relevant information regarding this topic either. Nonetheless, we could find a 2019 Dealerscope report. The report ranks the top 101 consumer tech/consumer electronics retailers. The ranking is based on the retailers’ US and Canada sales. It seems that Amazon, BestBuy, Apple, Walmart, and HP Inc. are the top five retailers that people choose for consumer electronics purchases.

NOTE: We could not find any relevant information on the topic may be because the research on it has never been conducted. The information found is general and not specific to retail distribution in the U.S. Motion Sensor Security Lighting market.

Market Size: Cordless Winches

The US market size for the electric winch, which the cordless electric winch is included, was $416.4 million in 2018.

GLOBAL MARKET SIZE

US MARKET SIZE

  • The United States is the biggest market of winch in the world, taking about 27.76% of the global market.
  • According to MarketWatch, winch consumption had a slow trend because of the intensifying competition in the winch market.
  • The US market size of electric winch was estimated at $416.4 million in 2018.

RESEARCH STRATEGY

To look for the US market size of the cordless winch, we first studied the type of winch mentioned through the example item (WARN PullzAll 24-Volt Cordless Electric Pulling Tool). Then, we did a thorough search on the market size of cordless winch through credible industry analysis websites such as Market Reporter, Technavio, Market Research News, IBISWorld, Business Wire, and Industry Journal Pro. This initial search was done to get a specific segmentation by region or by country, thus, determine its US market size. But the reports from these sources are behind a paywall and did not include specific figures that we can use. Additionally, reports are too general, which refers to the whole winch (or winch and hoist) market.
Secondly, we checked for market players of the cordless winch to try to get their market share that we could use to triangulate the market size through websites in the likes of recovery & winch. However, the information is not available and did not include the players market share, specifically for the US. Since most (paywalled) sources discuss the winch market in general, and no list of key players provides the needed information, we researched for the different types of winch available in the market to further breakdown the exact type of winch where the specified product belongs. Based on the research, the main types of winch are hand winch (manual), electric winch, and hydraulic winch (heavy-duty). Cordless winch falls under the electric winch type since the example item's description: 24-volt, cordless but electric, battery-operated and rechargeable, and can lift up to 1,000 lbs falls under this type, especially based on the capacity. Therefore, we expanded our scope and opted to focus on the electric winch market.
MarketWatch reported that the global market size for electric winch in 2018 was $1.5 billion at a CAGR rate of 7.5%. In another report, it was mentioned that the US is the biggest market of winch in the world, taking 27.76% of the total market. We assumed that the same market share of the US still holds up to 2018 since it was mentioned that historically, the market movement trend was slow due to the intensifying competition. To compute for the market size, we get the 27.76% value from the total $1.5 billion global market size.
US Market Size = global market size ($) x US market share (%)
= $1.5 billion x 0.2776 (or 27.76%)
= $416.4 million
Therefore, the US market size for the electric winch, which the cordless electric winch is included, was $416.4 million in 2018.

  • Some companies, which manufacture wireless winches include Quadratec, Ramsey, Smittybilt, and WARN.

RESEARCH STRATEGY

Information on top manufacturers of cordless winches in the United States market is not available in the public domain. There is limited information and lack of parameters to calculate on revenue specific to cordless winches among electric winches key players was also not possible.

Initially, we searched for information on key players of cordless winches in the United States in various US cordless winches market articles and reports in websites such as GlobeNewswire, Allied Market Research, MarketsandMarkets, WSJ, Forbes, among others. We could locate that there are no exclusive market reports for cordless winches in the United States, but some companies that manufacture electric winches in general.

As there is no pre-compiled information on key players of cordless winches in the United States, we tried to triangulate the revenue segmentation of electric winches manufacturers in the US with respect to cordless winches in various company websites such as Mile Marker Industries, Ingersoll Rand, Harken, COMEUP Industries, WARN, Superwinch, Ramsey Winch, among others. We could locate that Warn Industries manufacture cordless winches, but there is no annual report published by the company, and only estimated revenue is quoted without any segmentation on revenue of cordless winches. Some other companies, like Mile Maker company, present a list of electric winches but does not sub-segment cordless winches to derive further on revenue. Also, we could not locate any cordless winches' revenue in the companies related to electric winches manufacturers in the US.

As details on Cordless Winches company revenues is not disclosed in public domain, we tried checking for top-rated cordless winches from various winches-related reviews and rating websites such as Probest Review, Amazon, CarCareTotal, Auto Anything, HoistNow, among others, but most of the information is specific to the best portable electric winches and not specific to cordless winches.

Later, we expanded the scope of our research and tried to check global cordless winches market and also searched for information beyond the 24 months timeline and beyond paid walls. We explored various global cordless winches market reports, articles, company databases, such as Transparency Market Research, Reuters, IBISWorld, Global Spec, among others to triangulate the US revenue from companies of global cordless winches key players. Most of the information was about manufacturers of Electric winches in general and not specific to global cordless winches key players. We also tried to pull key players of cordless winches market from Hoovers, Crunchbase, Craft.co, ZoomInfo, among others, and most of the information is related to winches in general and not specific to cordless winches.

The marine segment is expected to generate a revenue of $4.86 billion by the end of 2025.

RESEARCH STRATEGY

No information apropos of the retail sales in the cordless winches market by retailer type could be found in public. All the information found, catered around the global and U.S. market size and growth for the broader "Electric Winches Market" to which cordless winches primarily belong, major types of winches and their usage, and major manufacturers of winches in the U.S. and globally. The primary reason this information is unavailable could be the niche and fragmented nature of the industry due to which no aggregated revenue numbers by retailer type exist. Also, almost all the players operating in the industry are private and do not have any financial reporting obligations, as a result of which very limited data is available around the sales of various retailer types. Below is the deep dive into the various strategies that we deployed to locate the information.
Our first strategy was to scour through the industry research reports for the U.S. cordless winches industry from Deloitte, Market Radar, Grandview Research, Business Wire, Freedonia Group, Reuters, and others. These reports are a primary source of industry information and provide data and revenues by various industry segmentation, hence idea was to leverage them to find U.S. cordless winches revenues categorized by various retailer types. However, no specific industry reports focused on the U.S. cordless winches industry could be located and this industry was found to be reported/operate as part of the broader electrical winches market. The reports found for the broader industry had data on the market size and growth of the electrical winches segment but no specific information apropos of the retail sales of cordless winches by retailer type could be found.
Our second strategy was to search through credible company databases (such as Crunchbase, Hoovers, Zoom Info, Owler, among others) and statistical databases (such as Statista). The idea here was to check for any broad industry level revenue information for cordless winches broken down by retailer types. Such databases provide industry-level statistics in addition to company-level information, hence we wanted to leverage them. We also scoured through the media articles (from Forbes, Businesswire, Bloomberg, Live Mint, WSJ, Reuters, among others) and blogs and websites specific to electrical winches (such as Electric Winch Shop, From Winch, Jeamer, among others). These are again a potential source where any information around industry/segment level sales is quoted especially from paid sources, hence we tried to leverage this research path. However, no pertinent information could be located through this research path. All the information found catered around the various types of winches and their applications across the various industries.
Our third strategy was to locate alternate data points in the form of the percentage share of cordless winches market in the overall electrical winches market. The idea here was to check for and use the retail sales categorization in the broad electrical winches market and then use the percentage share of the cordless winches market in the electrical winches market to carve out the revenue pie belonging to the cordless winches market. For example, if hardware stores have $X million in revenues from the electrical winches market and cordless winches represent Y% of the electrical winches market, the hardware stores' retail sales for cordless winches would have been (X*Y%). We were able to locate information around the various product listings for electrical winches on e-commerce websites that depicted that cordless winches operate as a sub-type of this market and the price points at which they are sold. However, no information could be found for the share of cordless winches in the overall electrical winches market or the revenue distribution within the electrical winches market.
Our fourth strategy was to triangulate the information by breaking the same at the retailer level. The idea here was to find the revenues for top retailers (by market share) of cordless winches in the U.S. and then follow a bottom-up approach by aggregating them into various retailer categories such as hardware stores, mass retailers, home centers, and others; the assumption here is that top players with majority market share will represent the bulk of the category revenues. However, no data on the top retailers in the U.S. cordless winches market by market share or any other parameter could be located. While we were able to find a few key players operating in the segment, no information could be located either around their market share or revenues from the cordless winches segment due to which we could not rank them. Hence, the triangulation strategy did not prove fruitful.
Our fifth strategy was to expand the research scope beyond the standard two-year Wonder time frame and see if we could locate any useful data points or research reports from the past. The idea here was to locate any retailer type based sales categorization for U.S. cordless winches segment from the past and use the industry CAGR to compute /extrapolate the current numbers. However, no such reports could be located and again all the information found focused on the global electric winches market.

We looked for precompiled market reports to identify the market size of the U.S. concrete equipment industry. Marketwatch, Marketsandmarkets, and Grandviewresearch are some of the sources we looked into. However, all the reports provided the global market size of the concrete industry.

We decided to look for information on global concrete equipment market segmentation by countries or regions to triangulate the US market size. Businessinsider, Entrepreneur, and Constructionbusinessowner are some of the sources we looked into. After an extensive search on various credible sources, we found that all the available segmentation focus on the global construction equipment market.

Following this, we decided to identify the top 10 key players and their revenue in the US market to estimate the market size. The strategy was based on an assumption that the top 10 companies take up the vast majority of the market value/share. But, no substantial information was found.

Further, we tried to identify the different types of concrete equipment, in order to look up their US market sizes individually and add it together to provide a rough estimate of the US market size. We identified the US market sizes of Concrete Batching Plants, Concrete Mixers, Concrete Pumps, and Shotcrete Machines. Global market size was available for each of the construction equipment type. Nothing country-specific was found. Due to this, we searched for segmentation of the markets by region, in order to triangulate using the global market sizes and percentage the US takes up, but all the data was hidden behind paywalls.

Following this, we looked information that was older than two years. Nothing significant turned up. As a last resort, we looked for information on the average cost of concrete equipment production process, as well as the number of concrete equipment manufactured in the US yearly, in order to estimate the US market size. To find this information, we searched Google Scholar, JSTOR, and other similar sites. We were not able to successfully triangulate the market size using this strategy because we couldn't find the number of construction equipment produced yearly or the average cost of concrete equipment production process, such as concrete mixers. The available information focused primarily on the amounts of concrete produced in the US yearly and the cost of concrete production per yard.

Key Players: Concrete Equipment

Volvo, Zoomlion, SANY, Hitachi, and Oshkosh would be five of the top manufacturers of Concrete Equipment in the United States. Kindly refer to the spreadsheet for more information.

USEFUL FINDINGS

  • Volvo Construction Equipment generates about $5.4 billion in revenue from construction equipment sales.
  • Zoomlion generates about $3,874,300,491.85 in revenue from construction equipment sales.
  • SANY generates about $2.52 billion in revenue from construction equipment sales.
  • Hitachi generates about $10.9 billion from its American sales including from construction and concrete machinery.
  • Oshkosh generates about $6 billion from its sales including from construction and concrete machinery.

RESEARCH STRATEGY

To provide five of the top manufacturers of Concrete Equipment in the United States, we began our research by searching through media resources such as CNBC, financial/business sites including Forbes and the Business Insider, company profiling sites such as Clutch, Crunchbase, and D&B Hoovers, general company review resources such as BizVibe and Ranker, and industry-specific review resources such as Construction Review Online. However, there was no ranking of the manufacturers of Concrete Equipment in the United States.

Next, we explored market research resources including MarketsandMarkets, Deloitte, and Mintel, industry-oriented resources such as Construction Global and U.S. Buildings, and statistics sites such as Statista and Euromonitor. While there was some information on the top manufacturers of Concrete Equipment in North America and globally, each report listed between 12 and 20 companies, and they were all behind paywall. The paywalled reports did not provide any insights into which companies were among the top five.

Third, with no readily available information on the subject, we explored the companies listed by Global Info Research and Market Intellica as the top players in the concrete equipment category in North America and the United States. Notably, both lists comprised similar players. We checked each company's annual reports for their financial statements in order to determine which companies generated the most income from the segment. We managed to find the information on their overall and construction revenues, in most cases, but we could not find any data on revenues specific to the concrete equipment segment. Also, some of the companies did not provide any information on the revenues generated from the United States alone. We also tried to search media resources and press releases for any breakdowns from the companies but we could not find anything useful.

Therefore, we provided the companies with the highest construction revenues and offering concrete mixers as a major product. Then we provided the companies with the highest overall revenues with the logic that the companies with the highest overall revenues would still have significant revenues from their U.S. concrete equipment market even after breaking down the figures. We could not calculate the market share due to unavailability of data.

CALCULATION

The Zoomlion annual report provided its revenue for in RMB. Therefore, we used the currency converter to change it to USD. The company's annual sales revenue for construction equipment which is RMB 26,653,000,000 can be found on page 12 of its 2018 annual report.
According to currency converter, RMB 6.87944 =$1
(RMB 26,653,000,000/6.88002)= $3,874,300,491.85

RESEARCH STRATEGY

YOUR RESEARCH TEAM APPLIED THE FOLLOWING RESEARCH STRATEGIES:

We started the research by searching across industry reports to find information on the Concrete Equipment market in the US. Our focus was on the categories of retailers. We searched through databases such as Research Gate, Market Watch, and more. We did not find any reports specific to the US. Instead, we found some reports that were focused on the global market. However, the global reports were locked behind a paywall. We also came across some other reports on the global Construction Equipment market and its trends. We have provided the findings from the reports above.

Thereafter, we specifically searched for the market shares of the retail categories. We focused our search on online stores and hardware stores and tried to determine that they are the actual categories. We searched for their respective shares in the US market. We were able to identify some companies in the US that specialize in the online market. We also found that some online stores have special sections to sell concrete equipment. We were only able to identify the names of the companies in the market because there were no industry reports, articles, or press releases that provided more information on the topic.

We then tried to identify the top manufacturers and wholesalers of concrete equipment in the US and their respective clients or buyers. Our aim here was to find reports that show information on the clients of the major players in the market. That way, we could have understood the complete distribution process. However, we were unable to identify such companies. We came across a website that handles the sale, resale, and servicing of concrete equipment across the US. After searching across the website and its content, we found that the All States Concrete Equipment is a wholesaler of concrete equipment for the top manufacturers in the US. Still, we were unable to determine their clients and retailers. We searched across the press releases and websites of the top manufacturers in the US. However, this strategy also proved to be futile, as we did not find any useful information.

Lastly, we searched across news and media websites, such as CB Media and Construction Global, to find any news articles on the topic. These websites addressed many aspects of the Concrete Equipment market. However, the information on the market share of distributors and retailers was still missing. Therefore, we were able to conclude that the information on the topic is not publicly available.

Market Size: Jobsite Coffee Makers

After a thorough search through commercial and industry websites and databases, we were unable to find any public information on battery-powered, jobsite coffee makers. However, the research team was able to provide valuable insights concerning the coffee appliance market.

MARKET SIZE: JOBSITE COFFEE MAKERS

HELPFUL FINDINGS

  • The global market for coffee machines is expected to cross $17 billion by 2024 due to the rising demand for household smart kitchen appliances and the expanding working class.
  • The global coffee machine market segments are product type, technology, end-user, and geography, which can be sub-divided. For example, product category sub-divides according to type (e.g., drip coffee machines, steam coffee machines, capsule coffee machines, and others); end-user is sub-divided into commercial and residential use.
  • MarketWatch reports that the coffee machine market will register a 6.8% revenue CAGR over the next five years. And the global market will grow from $20.6 billion in 2019 to over $28.5 billion by 2024.
  • Another report (via Reuters) indicates that the global coffee market was $15.5 billion in 2017 and is expected to grow to 21.4 billion by 2025 at a 2018 CAGR of 4.1%.
  • Some key players in the coffee machine market are Keurig Green Mountain, Panasonic, Nestle Nespresso, Jarden, Delonghi, Electrolux, Melitta, Morphy Richards, Philips, and Hamilton Beach.
  • According to Statista survey data on U.S. households, 26% of respondents indicated ownership of a Keurig Coffee Maker. The next most common coffee makers were Mr. Coffee (21%) and Black & Decker (12%).

RESEARCH STRATEGY

We could not find information on the size of the U.S. market for battery-powered jobsite coffee makers. As we researched the subject, we utilized a compilation of leading publications, expert blogs and reviewers, and industry databases. We made inquiries into media websites, industry-related databases, and market research websites (e.g., TechSci Research, Allied Market Research, Global Market Insights, Euromonitor International, and PR Newswire) for the size of the battery-powered jobsite coffee maker market in the U.S. However, we found no relevant information through this avenue of inquiry. The data we did find pertained to general overviews of the U.S. and global coffee maker markets, which were behind paywalls.

A report from TechSci Research segmented the Global Coffee Maker by product type (drip/filter coffee machines, espresso coffee machines, and pod/capsule coffee machines); end-user (residential vs. commercial); region; company; competition; forecast; and opportunities. As we stated previously, there was no relevant information. Much of the data was concerned with the global coffee maker market and locked behind a paywall.

Another report from Transparency Market Research provided an overview of coffee machine market insights, growth, key developments, and competitive landscape. We were unable to determine the size of the specified segment due to a lack of relevant information. This report only provided an overview of the market, with the rest of the data only available through purchase.

PR Newswire relayed a report that provided market size and forecast data for office coffee services. The report also included sales data by product category, brewer placement share by brewer marketer, pricing trends (by coffee consumption and single-cup revenue), and market size for the top 15 U.S. coffeehouses and donuts shops by sales and units. But this report provided no information on the size of the U.S. market for battery-powered jobsite coffee makers despite its breadth of data.

Our next step was to determine the size (U.S. or global) of the industrial battery-powered jobsite coffee maker market. We intended to make use of available percentage share data for the North American or U.S. markets to triangulate the size of the U.S. market. However, there was no breakdown of the coffee maker market that included battery-powered jobsite coffee makers. Nor was there any percentage share data. The data that were available concerned the overview of the global coffee maker market and its segments (much of which was not publicly available).

We then attempted to triangulate the needed information. We opted to use the relevant reports we were able to locate (e.g., Global Market Insight, Grandview, Marketwatch, Transparency Market Research, and PR Newswire). These reports provided information that covered the entire industry. Initially, we attempted to locate the U.S. percentage of the entire market, but the report from Transparency Market Research did not provide the necessary data. As we stated previously, the public version of that report provided an overview of some coffee machine market insights, growth, key developments, and the market's competitive landscape. We were unable to locate a clear percentage of data in any report that could help us achieve our goal.

As a matter of procedure, we expanded our search to the US Census Bureau to locate any data pertinent to the battery-powered coffee maker industry. However, this avenue yielded no data pertinent to this request.

Our final step was to attempt a synthesis of an estimate of the battery-powered coffee maker market using revenue data for the top players in the coffee maker market. However, this approach proved difficult due to a lack of differentiation in the revenue streams of previously identified manufacturers.

We note that we expanded our scope to include reports outside our range for timely sources but found no pertinent data. We have concluded that there is no publicly available data after a thorough search across all possible public domains. While it is possible that the data do exist (but are behind a paywall), it is also possible that the extremely niche nature of the subject means the data are very rare or non-existent. We emphasize that last point (i.e., the data's existence) given that our research uncovered barely any information on either the global or U.S. coffee machine markets.

KEY PLAYERS-JOBSITE COFFEE MAKERS BY TOTAL REVENUE:

COMPANY #1: Coleman
COMPANY #2: Presto 02835 MyJo Single Cup Coffee Maker
COMPANY #3: Roadpro Quick Cup
COMPANY #4: The CoffeeBoxx from Oxx, Inc.
COMPANY #5: Primula single serve camping coffee makers
COMPANY #6: GSI Outdoors
COMPANY #7: Aerobie AeroPress

Research Strategy:

The information regarding the top five manufacturers of battery-powered Jobsite Coffee Makers in the United States based on their revenue and their market share as well was not available publicly and could not be identified behind any paid wall based on their contents.

The first strategy was to identify five of the top manufacturers of battery-powered Jobsite Coffee Makers in the United States in terms of revenue or any other metric, we started our search by looking for pre-compiled lists from media publications like Forbes, Reuters, Bloomberg, Fortune, Inc. among others as these generally highlight the top players in the industry but no report was found that showcased the battery-powered Jobsite Coffee Makers in the United States. We then move to look under industry blogs like Always Caffeinated and Gear Hungry among others. The idea here was to see if any survey/study has been conducted in the segment of battery-powered Jobsite Coffee Makers in the United States, though these blogs listed the best battery powered coffee makers in town, no metrics were available to highlight why these are the best or at the top. Later we also looked through The National Coffee Association, USA- Single-Serve Machine Analysis Scorecard Report to see if they have presented any key players, revenue, market share among them.

The second strategy was to use the list of companies found and compiled from industry blogs and checking each of them for their respective revenue and break-ups of revenue for the companies to triangulate the information. These sites included databases such as Hoovers, Zoom Info, Crunchbase, Manta and Owler. Although these databases had the estimated revenue for most of the companies, they did not provide any further break-up for revenues along the specific product line. Hence, this strategy failed to yield the desired results as most companies were privately held and had no obligation to publish their financial strength. We have provided the key players based on their total revenue as key relevant insights based on the below mentioned assumptions and calculations.

Our third strategy was to scour for information for global key players and US players among them as alternate data points to triangulate the information by calculation. We looked through industry reports like Market Watch, Markets and Markets, Grandview Research and Transparency Market Research among others but though these reports also pinpointed the names of the key players and they revenue, there was no further breakdown or any other metric stating why these are the “Top” players were not included. As the information was locked behind a paid wall we could not ascertain whether the information is available or not from the contents.

The forth strategy was to try and broaden the scope and look for retailers like Walmart, Target, Home Depot, and the retail distribution and the product ratings among them. The idea was to check for the retailers, retail distribution segment for the product and provide the “top” players by customer rating. But due to lack of data available on the U.S. based retailers on the specific products and the wide range of products manufactured by the industry. This strategy also proved futile.

Our final strategy was to look for information for “top” players among the battery-powered Jobsite Coffee Makers beyond the standard timeline of 24 months in various Global Coffee Machine Market reports, NRF, Select USA, PWC, CE Intelligence, The National Coffee Association, USA and others but most of the information was focused on Market trends, opportunities, challenges and not specific to retail distribution. We though were able to identify the key players and their market share by revenue, the data was from 2012 and no new report with similar information was available. Hence, as the data was dated and the market share/ rankings might have changed we have not taken the report into consideration.

Our assumption is that since the segment revenue was not available we have provided the top players by total revenue as insights. Additionally, we have taken manufacturers headquartered in U.S. only as per the research criteria.

CALCULATIONS:

Below is a list of key players for Jobsite Coffee Makers with their respective revenue and website. Post identifying the companies and their revenues, we have listed the companies based on their total revenue in descending order below. We then took the "top" 5 unique companies as the key players in the industry as the revenue available is for the whole company and not for segment or product. Hence, products of similar companies have been merged as one. Below is the list of companies identified before selecting the "top" five:

Data regarding the five of the top manufacturers of battery-powered Jobsite Coffee Makers in the United States by revenue is not available. We were also not able to calculate the market share even for the companies with total revenue due to lack of market size data availability for Jobsite Coffee Makers. This is mostly because the companies are privately held and revenue/break-down of revenues are not publicly published. This is also due to lack of study/survey conducted in this segment and focus being on the overall Coffee Maker Industry.

However, we found data regarding the best coffee makers in the portable, camping sector is available which run on battery along with the total estimated revenue from statistical sites like Owler, Crunchbase and Hoovers among others.

Retail Distribution: Jobsite Coffee Makers

Information on the retail distribution for the U.S. battery-powered Jobsite Coffee Makers market is not available in the public domain and due to the limited information available, a calculation on the retail distribution was not possible. The available data has been compiled in the "Battery Powered Jobsite Coffee Maker" tab of the attached spreadsheet. Additionally, an explanation of the applied research strategy is detailed below.

KEY INSIGHTS

  • The models available within the Jobsite battery-powered coffee maker brand are the Makita DCM500Z 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Coffee Maker, the Schumacher 1229 12V Coffee Maker, and the RoadPro 12-Volt Coffee Maker.
  • Other battery-powered portable coffee makers include the MOSFiATA Portable Coffee Maker and the CONQUECO Portable Espresso Maker.
  • The Makita Cordless Coffee Maker is available in brick-and-mortar and online stores.
  • Roadpro distributes through brick-and-mortar stores such as Lowe’s and ACE Hardware.
  • Schumacher Electric distributes its coffeemakers through Walmart, Amazon, and its company site. However, there is no information on sales segmentation.

ADDITIONAL FINDINGS

  • The single-serve coffee maker has CAGR of 7% in a forecast period of 2017 to 2026 globally.
  • The e-commerce segment is 66% and remains dominant in distribution sales within the global single-serve coffee maker market.
  • The U.S. single-serve coffee maker market has CAGR of 8.4% in a forecast period of 2017 to 2026.
  • The global coffee machine market size is $20,600 million in 2019 and is expected to reach $28,500 million by 2024 with a CAGR of 6.8%.

RESEARCH STRATEGY

We began our research by looking for information on retail distribution for the U.S. battery-powered Jobsite Coffee Makers in relevant news articles and press releases. Using this method, we found that there are no pre-compiled or published articles that focus on or highlight information about the U.S. battery-powered Jobsite Coffee Makers market. However, we located some companies which offer battery-powered Jobsite Coffee Makers such as Schumacher Electric, Roadpro, and Makita USA.

As there is no pre-compiled segmentation of retail distribution for the U.S. battery-powered Jobsite Coffee Makers market, we attempted to derive the retail distribution pattern from the companies which offer battery-powered Jobsite Coffee Makers. We looked through their websites, market reports, financial statements, and press releases. However, we could only find the number of dealers, locations, and a variety of distribution channels these companies offer. Sources referencing financial information related to retail distribution for these companies mentioned nothing specific about their sales. Therefore, we could not determine how many Jobsite Coffee Makers they had sold.

As a second method, we then tried to locate the segmentation of U.S. battery-powered Jobsite Coffee Makers within the entire US coffee maker market. We aimed to find information about the U.S. battery-powered Jobsite Coffee Makers within various market reports on coffee machines. To do this, we referred to sources that publish market reports and analyses. However, most of the information about the US is specific to the single-serve coffee maker market, and we could find nothing specific to the US coffee markers market as it relates to Jobsite Coffee Makers or retail distribution in general.

As a final method, we expanded the scope beyond 24 months and tried to find data on global battery-powered Jobsite Coffee Makers. We hoped that in doing this we could calculate what percentage of that global data belongs to the US market. We also searched for reports that are protected behind paywalls. However, even with these parameters, the information was focused on market trends, opportunities, challenges, and it was not specific to retail distribution. The available information has been compiled in the "Battery Powered Jobsite Coffee Maker" tab of the attached spreadsheet.

  • The Concrete Company with a revenue of $1.5 billion.
  • The Xtreme polishing system with a revenue of $70 million.
  • The Jodon company with a revenue of $34.3 million.

CALCULATIONS

To calculate the market size of the Floor Prep Equipment in the USA, we decided to pick on the top key players in the industry to triangulate the Market size based on the Companies that had been selected. We added the revenue of the five companies to estimate the market size:

Research Strategy

We first decided to look for a precompiled report in industrial reports in Reuters, Marketwatch, and Market Research. We were able to find an industrial report posted by Persistence Market Research that was under a paywall, so we decided to look at news sites such as PRNewswire where we were able to find another report. We expected to find a clear clue of the market size in the US, but this search did not find any information about the given topic because we were only able to find data based on the global market size and the key players in the industry among other details.

We then decided to triangulate the needed information. We opted to use a few reports we selected and looked at included Freedonia, which we found to be under a paywall. We also looked at the Grandview research, and we also got access to a report from Marketwatch. The sources gave us information that covered the entire industry. Our aim during the search was to find the percentage share that the US contributed to the whole market. However, the report from MarketWatch was only able to give us information concerning the percentage that North America contributed to the global market size of the industry. The sources did not talk about the percentage that the US or Canada contributed to the given market. We aimed to exclude the market size of the US from the market sizes that were provided as the reports gave us both the Northern America and Global market size of floor prep Equipment. However, we were unable to find a clear percentage of data that could help us out to achieve our aim.

We then decided to visit the US Census Bureau as its responsible for storing data based on the research that has been conducted earlier. We opted to find precise data concerning the market size of Floor prep equipment in the US. However, this search also proved inconsequential as there was no existence of any data related to the request.

As our last resort, we decided to look at the top companies in the US floor prep Equipment to estimate the market size of Us floor prep equipment. Some Market reports that we had located earlier gave us some key players in the industry globally. We used Market Watch and the PRNewswire news articles to look for companies that operated based in the US.

We were able to locate a few companies that operated in the US, such as SASE, Xtreme Polishing Systems, and EDCOINC. We then used Owler to determine some competitors of the companies so that we could select two companies that were to join the three already found companies. These companies would help estimate the market size. After gaining access to the companies, we tried to look for each of the companies' revenues in their annual reports. However, we were unable to find the revenues of the companies in their respective annual reports. We then settled to look for the revenue at third party sources such as Crunchbase and Owler. The companies were largely private, so they were not under any obligation to publicly state their financial status yearly, so we decided to use the individual revenue of each and used it as a proxy for the market size.

Research Strategy:

We began our search by going through market analysis, industry reports and research publications such as 360 Research Reports, MarketWatch, Market Research Reports, Research Reports, Inc, Deloitte, Prnewswire. There was no available information on the key players specific to the United States. We did, however, find global market reports with information on the key players of the floor grinding market and other floor prep equipment markets.

Then we decided to triangulate it by looking for the key players of the various markets of floor prep equipment. From the definition and complete list of floor prep equipment, we proceeded to look for the market analysis of each of the tools. This included key players and analysis of the floor scraping market, floor grinding and polishing market. Since we couldn't find information specific to the United States, we assumed that the global key players that were from the United States would also be the key players in the United States.

We were able to point out that companies like National Flooring Equipment, Blastrac, EDCO (Equipment Development Co) were both key players of the floor scraping, grinding and polishing markets in the United States. (Source 8 corroborated by 7)
We carefully analyzed all the companies' products and services and discovered that almost all the products and services offered by these companies are related to floor prep.
According to Blastrac, the company has more prep equipment than any other company and almost all (if not all) their products and services are related to floor prep. Furthermore, companies like EDCO, MK Diamond, National Flooring Equipment have floor prep equipment as their major products and services. Therefore, we considered their revenue to be mainly (if not completely) generated from floor prep.

We compared the revenues of each of the companies and chose the five with the biggest revenue. For the companies we discovered to generate almost all their revenue from the floor prep market, we calculated their market share as follows:

CALCULATIONS
  • The floor prep equipment market in the United States is estimated to be $1,749,300,000.
  • Assuming the following companies make negligible revenue from any other market except floor prep market as proven, their market share of the floor prep market is estimated as follows:

Market share = [(Category or Market Revenue) / Total Market Size] * 100

SASE: ($15,200,000 / $1,749,300,000) * 100 = 0.86%

Mk Diamond: ($16,400,000 / $1,749,300,000) * 100 = 0.93%

EDCO: ($53,600,000 / $1,749,300,000) * 100 = 3.06%

National Flooring Equipment: ($27,000,000 / $1,749,300,000) * 100 = 1.5%

Blastrac: ($115,000,000 / $1,749,300,000) *100 = 6.5%

RESEARCH STRATEGY:

We started off our search by trying to find the information on the breakdown of retail sales in the Floor Prep Equipment from industry reports like Forbes, Reuters, Market Watch, Markets and Markets, Grand View Research, among others. We also went through the industry news compilation from sources like Business Wire, PR News Wire, among others as generally these reports mention such breakdowns. However, most of the reports we found only focus on the global level and are specific to the subparts of the Floor Prep Equipment such as grinding and polishing, unfortunately, we could not find any reports on sanding. Moreover, the reports are available by the type of market size, cage, revenue by region, by application, and not by the retailer. We then expanded our search to media publications/press releases by going through websites like NY Times, WSJ, The Guardian, The Daily Mail, among others and also checked the industry blogs like the Tech Radar, Tech Crunch, Digital Journal, among others. However, we could not find any relevant information pertaining to the sales breakdown from these sources.

Since all information available is on a global scale, we then tried to identify the relevant information using a triangulation approach by looking for information on websites such as Forbes, Euromonitor, Market Watch, Markets and Markets, Grand View Research, Reuters, among others. We also checked industry news compilations from Business Wire, PR News Wire, among others. The idea was to check the breakdown of retail sales in the Floor Preparation Equipment market, by the type of retailer and the share of the U.S. market across the breakdown. However, after checking the reports, we could not identify the relevant information on the topic. The reports majorly focus on the grinding and polishing, we could not find reports available on sanding. The detailed information on sanding may or maybe not behind the paywall of various sources.

As there is no pre-compiled segmentation of retail distribution for the U.S. Floor Prep Equipment market, we tried to derive the retail distribution pattern from the US key players which include SASE company, EDCO Inc., and Xtreme Polishing System. We went through their websites, reports, and press releases, however, the information we found is limited and mainly focus on the number of dealers, locations, and the types of the distribution channels, but nothing specific on the share of sales and the type of retailer to help us find the retail distribution for the U.S. Floor Prep Equipment across various key players in the US.

Further, we tried to derive at retail distribution for the U.S. Floor Prep Equipment market by the product break down such as grinding, polishing, and sanding by looking into their market reports for retail distribution segmentation on websites such as Garner Insights, PR News Wire, Million Insights, Promed Xpress, IBIS World, among others. However, most reports just focus on the market size and key player and not specific to retail distribution. Also, we checked multiple key players of various subtypes to derive the retail distribution with a motto of consolidation, but most of the companies just focus on the product features, while the information on the retail distribution is unavailable.
As a last resort, we expanded the scope of our search and tried to check the North American Or Global Floor Prep Equipment market. We also searched for the information beyond the timeline of 24 months and behind the paywalls to derive at retail distribution for the U.S. We checked sources such as Bloomberg, Forbes, PWC, Deloitte, CE Intelligence, and others, but most of the information focuses on the market trends, opportunities, challenges, and not specific to retail distribution.

NOTE: The data regarding the breakdown of retail sales in the Floor Prep Equipment by the type of retailer is not available. This is because most the sources majorly focus on the major industry of Floor Prep Equipment as a whole and not specified by the retailers' distribution.

Market Size: Metal Dust Collection

After a rigorous and thorough search for the size of the US market for metal dust collection equipment through market research reports and attempts at triangulation, the conclusion is that the information is not available in the public domain. This unavailability is likely due to the niche nature of the market for metal dust collection equipment and information that might have been relevant were hidden behind paywalls. There was barely any data on the global market, not to talk of just the US. Also, there were no premium reports that highlighted the market for metal dust collection equipment, even on a global focus. Thus, it is believed that no primary research has been conducted on this market, and if there are, they are hidden behind paywalls and yet to be made available publicly.

HELPFUL FINDINGS

  • Dust collectors fall under the product category of industrial air filtration market, a category it shares with oil mist collectors, HEPA filters, cartridge collectors and filters, baghouse filters, welding fume extractors, wet scrubbers, and dry scrubbers.
  • According to projections, the global industrial air filtration market will cross $5.0 billion by 2025, reaching $18.2 billion and expanding at a CAGR of 6.7%, driven primarily by the growth of end-users.
  • The US industrial air filtration industry is set to witness over $1.35 billion revenue by 2022; the dust collectors industry revenue was estimated at $867 million in 2014 and projected to grow with a CAGR of 8.7% up to 2022.
  • Dust collectors come in various types and sizes, including "fabric filter baghouses and jet dust collectors, cyclone dust collectors, wet dust collectors, cartridge collectors, small dust collectors, portable dust collectors, downdraft tables and dust collecting systems complete with multiple suction hoods and overhanging ductwork."
  • Key players in the industrial air filtration market include Andrew Industries, BWF Protec, Absolent Group, Camfil Group, AAF, and Cummins, Inc.

RESEARCH STRATEGY

In searching for the size of the US market for metal dust collection equipment, we took advantage of a compilation of leading publications, expert blogs & reviewers, and industry databases. We searched through market research websites and industry-related databases and media websites such as TechSci Research, Allied Market Research, Global Market Insights, Euromonitor International, and PR Newswire for the size of the US market for metal dust collection equipment. We found out that dust collectors are a product category of the air filtration market; hence, most sources were basically on the air filtration market. However, we found no relevant information concerning metal dust collectors. Most of our findings provided general overviews of the air filtration and dust collectors market, which were mostly hidden behind paywalls. Thus, there was no relevant information.

A report from Global Market Insight covering 2015–2022 gave insights into the growth of the air filtration market in the US, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. However, there was no relevant information concerning the size of the US market for metal dust collection equipment. All we could find bordered on the air filtration market globally, of which most information was locked behind paywalls.

A report by Grand View Research segmented the air filtration market by product (wet & dry scrubber, welding fume extractors), end-use (power, food, metals), and region, and segment forecasts, along with an overview of some air filtration market insights, growth, key developments, and competitive landscape of the market. Hence, we tried to search for the size of these segments but found no relevant information. Predominantly, we only found information on the overview of the air filtration/dust collector market and how to purchase the full report.

Furthermore, another research by Reuters titled "North America Industrial air filtration market to reach over $1.5bn by 2024" provides market size and forecast for dust collector air filtration, key players, different products in the air filtration market. This report provided no information on the size of the US market for metal dust collection equipment.

We were able to deduce from our research that the US industrial air filtration industry is set to witness over $1.35 billion revenue by 2022; with the dust collectors industry revenue estimated at $867 million in 2014 with a projected CAGR of 8.7% up to 2022. However, we can't use this value because we are specifically looking for the size of the US market for metal dust collection equipment.

Our next approach was to try to build up or synthesize an estimate for the size of the US market for metal dust collection equipment by searching for the top players based on revenue in the space. This approach proved difficult because we could not find any befitting ranking. This is because some companies we found (such as Camfil Group) and the ones listed in the competitive landscape project on the market for dust collector air filtration that was submitted previously have multiple revenue streams from other air filters and collectors like "fabric filter baghouses and jet dust collectors, cyclone dust collectors, wet dust collectors, cartridge collectors, small dust collectors, portable dust collectors, and downdraft tables and dust collecting systems complete with multiple suction hoods and overhanging ductwork," have revenue streams from the global or multinational markets, and they hardly focus on metal dust collection equipment.

Next, we tried to find the global or American size for the industrial market for dust collector air filtration. We hoped to use any available percentage share for America to triangulate the size of the US market for metal dust collection equipment. However, there was no mention of the breakdown of the market for dust collector air filtration that included metal dust collection; neither were there any percentage share data. Most information available was for the global overview of the air filtration/data collection market and segment overview, which were mostly hidden behind paywalls. Thus, this triangulation strategy was not feasible.

We also tried to expand our scope to include reports older than 24 months; yet, there was no pertinent data found.

YOUR RESEARCH TEAM APPLIED THE FOLLOWING STRATEGY:

Despite an extensive search, we were unable to identify the top five manufacturers of Metal Dust Collection equipment in the United States.

We commenced our research by scanning industry research reports on Deloitte, Market Radar, Grandview Research, Business Wire, Global News Wire, Reuters, etc. However, no data was specific to the US metal dust collection industry. Most of the information covered the 'Industrial Air Filtration Market' as a whole and revealed the North American and global market size and growth of the dust collectors segment.

Subsequently, we looked into media sources such as Forbes, Reuters, Bloomberg, Fortune, Dust Collector Manufacturers, and Inc. among others. However, no report was found concerning the manufacturers of Metal Dust Collection equipment in the United States. Following this, we examined industry blogs such as Act Dust Collectors, Robovent, and Maninks among others. The idea here was to see if any survey/study has been conducted in the segment of manufacturers of Metal Dust Collection equipment in the United States. These blogs listed the best or top manufacturers of Metal Dust Collection equipment. However, no metrics were available to highlight why they are the best.
Since we were able to identify a list of companies, we looked for their respective revenue and break-ups of revenue to triangulate the required information. These sites included databases such as Hoovers, Zoom Info, Crunchbase, Manta, and Owler. Although these databases had the estimated revenue for most of the companies, it did not provide any further break-up of revenues about a specific product line. Hence, this strategy failed to yield the desired results as most companies are privately held and did not publish their financial strength.
Further, we searched for global key players and US players to triangulate the required data. We looked through industry reports such as Marketwatch, Reuters, Marketsandmarkets, Grandviewresearch, Transparency market research among others. But, most of the relevant information was behind a paywall.
We tried broadening the scope and looked for distributors and retailers in the companies' website and annual reports for the same. The idea was to check the retail and distribution segment of the product and provide the “top” players by customers’ rating. Though the website mentioned the list of distributors and retailers, customer testimonies were unavailable and rating could not be found.

As our last resort, we looked for data that was older than two years. We found a relevant report from 2015. Although we identified the key players in the report, it wasn't ranked and there is not enough metrics available to rank them on our own.

We assume that the unavailability of data is largely due to the nature of the companies. Most of them are privately held and do not reveal financial information to the public. Lack of study conducted on this particular segment alone could also contribute to the unavailability of data.

Retail Distribution: Metal Dust Collection equipment

  • Dust Collectors are part of the Industrial Air Filtration market and primarily assist in increasing the equipment life by recirculating the clean air within the workplace leading to reduced energy costs.
  • The various kinds of dust collectors include fabric filter baghouses and jet dust collectors, cyclone dust collectors, wet dust collectors, cartridge collectors, small dust collectors, portable dust collectors, downdraft tables and dust collecting systems complete with multiple suction hoods and overhanging ductwork. (Source#4)
  • They are primarily used in coal handling, cement fabrication, metal fabrication, mining, chemical processing, woodworking, pharmaceutical, recycling, and agricultural industries.
  • Cartridge dust collectors are primarily used for most types of industrial dusts, including pharmaceutical, chemical, grain, bulk/powder, food, metal and others.
  • According to Reuters, the North American and global industrial air filtration market size are expected to reach over $1.5 billion and $6.5 billion respectively by 2024 and dust collectors' industrial air filtration market share is forecasted to register a 7.5% growth until 2024.
  • According to Global Market Insights, the US industrial air filtration industry is expected to garner $1.35 billion in revenue by 2022 with the Dust collectors industry segment expected to grow at an 8.7% CAGR up to 2022. The dust collector industry had an estimated revenue of $867 million in 2014.
  • Dust collectors application for metal working, manufacturing and processing is expected to gain prominence as the industry evolves, with a predicted 8.8% CAGR growth between 2015 and 2022.
  • Some of the leading US dust collector companies include Quality Air Management, Micro Air Clean Air Systems, Camfil APC, Ultra Industries, Inc, Midwest Finishing Systems, Inc. and Empire Abrasive Equipment Company.

Research Strategy:

We began by scouring through industry research reports for the US metal dust collectors industry from Deloitte, Market Radar, Grandview Research, Business Wire, Freedonia Group, and Reuters. These reports are a primary source of industry information and do provide data and revenue from various industry segmentation. However, no specific industry reports focused on the US metal dust collection. The reports had data about the market size and growth of the global dust collectors segment.

We also tried to find the share of the metal dust collectors market in the overall industrial air filtration market. The idea here was to find and use the retail sales categorization in the industrial air filtration market and use the share of the metal dust collectors market to carve out the revenue belonging to the metal dust collectors market. While we were able to locate a report from Global Market Insights that provided insights into the share of the dust collectors in the industrial air filtration market, there was no information specific to the share of the metal dust collectors or a retail sales categorization in the industrial air filtration market.
As a final approach, we tried to locate older but useful data points to locate any retailer type based sales categorization for the US metal dust collectors segment and use the industry CAGR to compute / extrapolate the current market size. However, no such reports could be located, as all the information focused on the global industrial air filtration market.

Market Size: Instructional books

Extensive searches through credible databases and market and business reports did not return accurate information on the size of the U.S. market for DIY instructional books for home improvement. In-depth analyses of sources with general information about the DIY instructional market lacked reliable data to support triangulating an estimate of the market size. Despite the lack of accurate data on the size of the U.S. market for DIY instructional books for home improvement, relevant findings on the DIY home improvement market are presented below to provide insights into the broader home improvement market.

HELPFUL FINDINGS

RESEARCH STRATEGY

In determining the market size of the DIY instructional books for home improvement in the U.S., the research team commenced by searching through industry databases, such as PR Newswire, IBIS World, Market Research, Euromonitor, Markets and Markets, and so on. These databases were selected because they record and publish reports on the market sizes of both small and large scale industries and their segments. Unfortunately, the research team found no information on the market size of DIY instructional books for home improvement; however, they retrieved some details regarding the DIY lumberyards and overall DIY sales.

Next, we went to specific book publishers' websites to see if they have any data regarding sales of DIY Instructional books for home improvement in their annual sales report. We searched the yearly reports of publishers like Barnes and Nobles, Penguin Random House, Simon and Schuster, Pearson, Harper Collins, etc., but couldn't find any mention of DIY Instructional books, or DIY Instructional books for home improvement.

Third, we tried to triangulate the figure by attempting to find the total market size of the DIY home improvement market and then finding the market share of books. Sadly, this approach did not work even after finding the global DIY home improvement market size. The strategy failed due to the lack of accurate data to use to triangulate the market share of DIY instructional books. We then went ahead to try to find the market size of the home improvement market in the U.S., and find the market size of DIY home improvement methods from there. Fortunately, we found the required data; however, we lacked corresponding data points that could help triangulate the market size of instructional books in this industry.

Fourth, we tried to find the global market size of DIY Instructional books for home improvement and then find the U.S. market share. Similarly, no global report featured data on the market size of the DIY instructional books for home improvement. Therefore, it appears that there are limited sources with the required data points to support a triangulation or extrapolation of the U.S. DIY instructional books for home improvement market size. Moreover, current researches on the same may not have focused on the market, or the study is currently out of the scope of the current research.

Key Players: Instructional books

An exhaustive search for the top companies producing DIY instructional books for home improvement in the US did not result in enough information to compile a list. However, relevant findings on the best rated DIY and home improvement books and three identified DIY home improvement book publishing companies are provided below.
We have therefore entered N/A into columns A-C of the "Instructional books" tab of the attached spreadsheet.

HELPFUL FINDINGS

  • "The Complete Do-It-Yourself Manual by Reader’s Digest and The Family Handyman" was rated the best DIY and home improvement book by Book Scrolling. It appeared on the lists of Full Home Living, Health Line, Parts Warehouse, Scrappy Geek, and XO Jame.
  • "How Your House Works: A Visual Guide to Understanding and Maintaining Your Home by Charlie Wing" was rated the second best DIY and home improvement book by Book Scrolling. It appeared on the lists of Full Home Living, Parts Warehouse, and XO Jame.
  • "100 Things Every Homeowner Must Know by Editors of Family Handyman" was rated the second best DIY and home improvement book by Book Scrolling. It appeared on the lists of Full Home Living, Scrappy Geek, and Wonderful Engineering.
  • Creative Homeowner, Creative Publishing International, and Quarry Books were identified by Publishers Global as US publishing companies that publish DIY home improvement books.

RESEARCH STRATEGY

To find top companies producing DIY Instructional books for home improvement in the US, we started by searching for top players in market research reports about the home improvement DIY instructional books market. We explored market research sites such as Markets and Markets, Technavio, Mintel, and IbisWorld, as well as market research news sites like PR Newswire, Globe Newswire, and Reuters. However, we could not find any report on the US home improvement DIY instructional books market. We only found reports on the DIY home improvement market which does not include books.

Next, we searched for lists of top publishers on books publishing sites and databases like Association of American Publishers, American Booksellers Association, Book Market, Publishers Global, TCK Publishing, and Publisher Weekly. We hoped to find lists of US publishers in different categories including DIY home improvement books category. But we couldn't gather enough information to create a list of the top publishing companies in the DIY home improvement books category. TCK Publishing provided a list of around 100 publishing companies but none of the genres listed is related to DIY home improvement. Publishers Global only identified two US publishers in the lifestyle category, and one US publisher in the craft category that publishes DIY home improvement books.

We also searched the websites of US book publishers to see if they have any data regarding DIY home improvement books. We searched the yearly reports of publishers like Penguin Random House, HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, Hachette Book Group, and Macmillan, but we couldn't find any information on DIY home improvement books.

We proceeded to search through book selling sites like Amazon, Apple Books, Barnes & Noble, IndieBound, Books-A-Million, and Penguin Random House. We hoped to find lists of books classified by top publishers. But we only found the list of best-selling books in do-it-yourself home improvement category and the list of most popular authors on Amazon. We attempted to check for the book publishers in order to create a list of the top publishers. But this proved abortive as we could hardly find publishers that published more than one do-it-yourself home improvement book. The other book selling sites did not include any book category related to DIY home improvement.

We then searched through book review sites such as Goodreads, BookBub, Literary Hub, and LibraryThing for reviews on DIY home improvement books. We also looked for articles and blogs which provided review of DIY home improvement books. We only found several reviews of top DIY home improvement books including an article by Book Scrolling which ranked 120 DIY and home improvement books based on the number of “Best DIY” book lists they appeared on. However, it only provided the names of the book authors and not the publishing companies.

Also, the previous request which handled the market size research found that the information was not publicly available, so we couldn't have been able to calculate market share even if we were able to compile a list of top companies.

Retail Distribution: Instructional books

While there is no publicly available information to fully answer your question, we've used the available data to pull together helpful findings. Below you'll find an outline of our research strategies to better understand why the information you've requested is publicly unavailable, as well as a deep dive into our findings.

Research Strategy

Publishing Associations

To find out which type of books were selling through which type of channel, we started our search by looking into publishing associations and forums. These sites included sources such as the Association of American Publishers, the Independent Book Publishers Association, and the International Publishers Association. We aimed to find in-depth statistical studies or survey reports for book sales according to their type, as well as channels through which they were sold. Although there were reports published by the Association of American Publishers, the categories were too broad to infer or triangulate any details about DIY instructional books for home improvement. The categories in the report included Trade, Higher Ed, PreK-12, Professional, and University Press.

Market Research Publications

We then looked into reports published by market research consultants such as Euromonitor, Nielsen, and NPD. We also checked sources that provided quantitative data on a diverse set of topics such as Statista and PeWResearch. Our objective was to look into sales details of DIY Home Improvement products with a focus on books, and also to look into sales of books or DIY books across channels with a specific focus on Home Improvement. Although some sources provided sales details for DIY products, they did not include books or instruction manuals. However, NPD's Bookscan report provided crucial insights relating to the channel-wise sales of books in general in the US.

Reports Published by Retail Outlets

We looked into reports, surveys, data and statistics published by retailers such as Amazon. Very few reports had their sales data sorted by product category, and even the ones that had book categories did not go any further than the type of books, such as DIY or Home Improvement.

News and Media Sources

We also looked into articles published on the DIY Market, Home Improvement Market, and Book Sales Market on sites such as Forbes, Business Insider, Fortune, and WSJ. We were hoping to find reports that had quantitative data about any of the three topics that we could use to triangulate an answer. Unfortunately, we did not find any information on these sites that were useful.

Sales Data of Best Selling DIY Home Improvement Books

We went through best-selling book lists from sites like Amazon, Book Scrolling, and Cabin Spaces to find some best-selling or highly-recommended DIY Home Improvement Books. Once we found some best-sellers, we looked into the individual sales numbers of these books from the publishing company's press releases and media coverage to find out what the sales of the book were like and how the sales were bifurcated among various channels. The average of such books' sales data for different channels could have been used to triangulate the overall percentage share for the DIY Home Improvement Market. Unfortunately, we could not find enough sales data to perform any kind of triangulation. We have, therefore, concluded that the information on retail distribution in the US for DIY home improvement books is not available.

Useful Findings

  • According to the Association of American Publishers' 2017 report, the sales volume of American publishers, in terms of broad retail channels, were almost equal for physical and online retail sales. Sales through physical retail channels came in at $7.6 billion and sales through online retail channels were $7.5 billion.
  • In terms of categories within the online retail channel, 43.2% of sales were print formats, 27% were eBooks, 16.3% were instructional materials, 10.5% were downloaded audio, and 3.1% were physical audio or a different format.
  • As per the NPD Bookscan Report, the total unit sales for print books in 2017 was 687,230,000.
--Channel wise, 593,659,000 print-books out of a total of 687,230,000 or [(593,659,000/687,230,000)*100] i.e. 86.38% were sold through the channel "Retail & Club".
--Whereas, 93,571,000 print-books out of a total of 687,230,000 or [(93,571,000/687,230,000)*100] i.e. 13.62% were sold through the channel "Mass Merchandisers/Other".
  • Out of the 687 million print-books as tracked by NPD Bookscan in 2017, 312 million print units, or 45.5% were sold by Amazon.
  • Second to Amazon was Barnes & Noble, the next largest retailer of print books, which sold 23% of Bookscan’s total in 2017.
  • Although mass merchandisers, such as Walmart and Costco, sold about 14% of Bookscan’s total tracked print-book units, their sales were dropping about 7-8% per year.
  • The independent book stores of the US were found to make up less than 6% of the US print-book market sales.
  • In terms of eBooks, Amazon’s share of overall US eBook units is about 83%.
  • Overall, from 2016 to 2017, the sales of self-help books in the US grew from 12,865 to 15,120 or 18%.
  • However, books on home improvement witnessed a decline as building materials resources for consumers in 2016.

RESEARCH STRATEGY

Our first research strategy involved searching for pre-existing data about the United States market size for electrical accessories. To find this information, the research team scoured through market reports from market research websites such as marketwatch.com and ibisworld.com. From the search, we couldn't find any existing market reports on the market size of electrical accessories'. While the term 'electrical accessories' is mentioned in several reports, no information is available regarding the market size. The closest we were able to get concerning the market size of electrical accessories in the United States was finding a report that focused on electrical accessories market size in the United Kingdom by prnewswire.com.

Since electrical accessories are a segment of the electrical market, our research team decided to look for segmentation of the electrical market to find what percentage electrical accessories take up to triangulate the market size using the United States electrical market size. To find this information, we've looked through press releases that specialize in the field such as necanet.org, ecmag.com, ecmweb.com and so on. We also searched through market research sites and business publications such as forbes.com or cnbc.com. This strategy failed because despite the exhaustive search through various sources, we couldn't find any reliable segmentation of the electrical market and this is why we were not able to determine the percentage that electrical accessories take up in the electrical market to perform a triangulation.

Also, we attempted to identify the top 10 leading players in the United States electrical accessories market and use their revenues to estimate the market size by adding their revenues together. The idea behind this strategy was that the 10 leading players take up a majority of the market and this is why their revenues could be used to estimate the market size. This strategy also failed because we couldn't determine from search any credible sources that list the leading electrical accessories either by revenue or another comparable metric. For this reason, our research team wasn't able to determine the key players in the electrical accessories market.

In our fourth strategy, we searched for outdated information on market size and the growth for this market. We aimed to use the outdated market size together with the growth rate to estimate the current market size. Unfortunately, even after searching for information older than 10 years, no information was available regarding either the market size or growth rate specific to the United States as the most relevant available information was focusing on the United Kingdom. The closest information that is specific to the United States which we were able to get focused on the electrical market in general.

As a last resort, we decided to search for the United States market sizes for each of the electrical accessories examples listed in the research criteria to add them together to provide a rough estimate of the United States electrical accessories market size. The examples include Power Strips, Reels, Adapters, Power Banks, and Cords. From this search, we were able to determine the global market sizes for all the listed products. Our research team then searched for segmentation of the markets for these products by country or region but this information was repeatedly hidden behind paywalls.

Because we couldn't find any information on electrical accessories market size that is specific to the United States, and also due to the lack of enough data points to reliably triangulate the market size, we've decided to provide relevant insights found along the way as helpful findings.

YOUR RESEARCH TEAM APPLIED THE FOLLOWING STRATEGY:

Despite an extensive search, we were unable to identify the top five manufacturers of electrical accessories in the United States.

We commenced our research by examining market reports on sources such as Market Watch, Allied Market Research, etc. and searched the previous report. We did not find anything that was related to the United States. Most of the information was global. Nevertheless, we used global data to determine the share of the US market since it is segmented geographically. But, most of the information that was available for free did not provide any substantial data. Rest of the information was behind a paywall.

Subsequently, we examined media sources which carry the statements of electrical industry experts. We thought the interviews might reveal the top electrical accessory manufacturers in the United States. However, nothing fruitful turned up. We came across information concerning the global wiring device manufacturers. This has been included in the findings.

As our last resort, we decided to triangulate the required data by focusing on the provided electrical accessories — power strips, reels, adapters, power banks, cords, etc. We looked for the market size of individual accessories and the key players in the respective fields. This search attempt provided global data and nothing country-specific.

Since most of the companies are private, this could be the reason there is not enough data in the public domain.

Retail Distribution: Electrical Accessories

The breakdown of retail sales in the electrical accessories market by type of retailer was not available publicly and could not be identified behind any paid reports based on content. Therefore, no information was provided on the attached spreadsheet. Below is an overview of the information that was available.

KEY RELEVANT INSIGHTS

  • The U.S. power banks market was valued at $0.98 billion in 2018.
  • The electronics and appliance store sales in the U.S. saw a 1.1% rise.
  • Electronics & appliance stores sales as of June 2019 was $8,123 million (adjusted).
  • The U.S. spending on electronics & appliance stores declined by 0.3% in June 2019 vs 0.8% in May 2019.
  • BDI and Mouser Electronics, have a revenue of more than $250 million and are among the top U.S.-based suppliers of electrical switches.
  • According to Credence Research, the consumer electronic accessories market includes products like camera and photo accessories, audio and video accessories, mobile phone accessories, personal computer accessories, car electronics accessories, and office electronic accessories.
  • The U.S. Consumer Electronics segment will amount to US$76,998 million in 2019 and is expected to show an annual growth rate (CAGR 2019-2023) of 6.2%, resulting in a market volume of US$97,916 million by 2023.

RESEARCH STRATEGY

To identify the breakdown of retail sales in the electrical accessories market by type of retailer, we took industry reports as prima facie for U.S. electrical accessories (from sources such as Forbes, Reuters, Market Watch, Markets and Markets, Grandview Research) and industry news compilation (from sources such as Businesswire, PRNewswire, among others) as generally these reports mention such breakdowns. All the reports found were focused on the global market size, the CAGR, the global market size by application and region but not by retailers. We then scoured through media publications/press releases (from sources such as the NYTimes, WSJ, The Guardian, The Daily Mail, among others) and also checked industry blogs (such as Tech Radar, TechCrunch, Digital Journal) as many times surveys and studies are conducted and the findings are presented for different sectors/industries in the country but these reports also proved futile as no information of sales breakdown by retailers were available.

Since all information available was on a global scale, we tried to determine the retail distribution through triangulation from global electrical accessories information (found in sources such as Forbes, Euromonitor, MarketWatch, Markets and Markets, Grandview Research) and industry news compilation (from sources such as Businesswire, PRNewswire, among others). The idea was to check the breakdown of retail sales in the electrical accessories market by the type of retailer and the share of the U.S. market across the breakdown. After scouring the reports, we were unable to identify relevant information among them. The reports were again focused on the market size, CAGR, revenue by region and application but not by retailer. The detailed information was behind a paywall.

For our second triangulation attempt, we tried to calculate the U.S. electrical accessories sales breakdown by adding the individual revenue for components in the sector like the U.S. market size for power strips, reels, adapters, power banks, and cords. Since our search determined that mostly the global market sizes were available for the listed components, we looked for a sales breakdown by retailer for different industry components/segments (power strips, reels, adapters, power banks, cords, etc.) but this also did not yield results as the U.S. market size was not available and if it was, like in the case of power banks, the breakdown of sales was not available.

For our third triangulation attempt, we tried to identify the top companies in the sector, compile their revenue, use the breakdown among the industry leaders as a benchmark for the industry, and derive the breakdown by using the 80-20 rule. We tried to derive the list of key players from Thomas Net, IBIS World, MarketWatch, Fortune, among others and looked for their revenue in company databases (such as Owler, Crunchbase, Bloomberg), their company website, annual reports, and financial statements, among others. Since most companies are privately held, the revenue was not available and if it was available (like the revenue of U.S.-based suppliers of electrical switches), the breakdown by the retailer was not available. Hence, this strategy also failed to yield the desired results.

We then tried to identify the data by broadening the scope and scouring for a breakdown of the overall retail sales by type of retailers in the U.S. and checking for the share of electrical accessories among them. We searched through sources like The Balance, US Retail Sales — YCharts, Monthly Retail Trade, Main Page — U.S. Census Bureau, Trading Economics, Economagic-Economic Time Series Page, among others. Though the sources highlighted the retail market growth and trends in the U.S. retail industry, the revenue breakdown by type of retailer was not available. Hence, this strategy also failed to yield the desired results.

Last, we tried to identify any available paid reports that highlight or provide the required information. We scoured for industry reports on U.S. electrical accessories from Credence Research, Statista, Intelligence Node, and MDM Market Leaders, among others as generally these reports mention such breakdowns. The idea was to check for the electrical accessories sales breakdown among the consumer electronics market. Though the paid reports highlighted the different accessories and their revenues, they did not provide the breakdown we were searching for. Hence, we were unable to conclude if the paid reports do or don't provide the relevant information.

The requested information might be unavailable because the focus is on the major industry, thus the electrical market, its market size, its CAGR and the breakdown of this market by application and product. This can also be due to the fact that the sales are available per retailer but not as a segment-total like the retailers, hardware stores, among others.

Market Size: Aids for Daily Living

The U.S. market size for rehabilitation devices is $4.63 billion and the U.S. market size for the Aids for Daily Living equipment segment is $1.72 billion.

U.S. MARKET SIZE

  • The U.S. market size for rehabilitation devices is $4.63 billion. The market size was calculated based on 44% share of the global market size of $10.53 billion.
  • The U.S. market size for the Aids for Daily Living Equipment segment is $1.72 billion. The segment accounted for 37.1% of the U.S. market, which was calculated above as $4.63 billion.

GLOBAL MARKET SIZE

  • The global rehabilitation equipment device market size was $10.53 billion in 2017 and is projected to amount to $16.44 billion in 2024.
  • The market is expected to grow by a CAGR of 6.56%.

  • Both the exercise equipment and body support segments accounted for 35.2% market share in 2016.
  • The rehabilitation device market can also be divided into levels such as low-end products (canes, walkers, crutches) and high-end products (wheelchairs, scooters), as seen in PR Newswire.

RESEARCH STRATEGY

In the initial stages of our research, we attempted to find the size of the U.S. market for Aids for Daily Living equipment using news sources such as PR Newswire. Useful information was found about the product ranking (low-end vs high-end) but was non-specific to U.S. market size.

The research team then changed our focus and decided to look for global rehabilitation device market reports identifying the U.S. market share. We found that North America accounted for 44% of the global market, but were unable to find the specific size of the U.S. market share.

We decided to delve deeper by looking specifically for the U.S. market share for Aids for Daily Living equipment (mobility equipment) in the market reports. Again, we were only able to find the market share in North America rather than the U.S. market size. The research team did find that the most similar market size segment in the market reports was mobility equipment, based on the provided definition for Aids for Daily Living equipment. This is the segment we focused on, and it was found to be responsible for 37.1% of the market.

Having gathered this information, it was possible to perform a triangulation using the statistics for North America as a proxy for the U.S. market size. We chose to do this because the U.S. accounts for the majority of the market in that region.

To calculate the U.S. market size for Rehabilitation Devices/Equipment, we first found 44% of the global market size. We used the following calculation to find that the U.S. market size was $4.63 billion:

U.S. market size = 44% of Global market size = 0.44 x $10.53 billion = $4.63 billion

Then, we calculated the market size that was specific to the mobility equipment (Aids for Daily Living equipment). We found that this segment accounted for 37.1% of the U.S. market, which was calculated above as $4.63 billion, leading to the following calculation:

U.S. market size for Aids for Daily Living Equipment = 0.371 x $4.63 billion = $1.72 billion

We were then able to conclude that the U.S. market size for rehabilitation devices is $4.63 billion and the U.S. market size for the Aids for Daily Living equipment segment is $1.72 billion.

    5. SP ABLEWARE - MADDAK

    RESEARCH STRATEGY:

To find out the top manufacturers of Aids for Daily Living equipment in terms of segmental revenue for Aids for Daily Living equipment or any other metric such as top-rated as applicable for the United States, we deployed the following research strategies.

    Company Websites and Reports:

Once the initial list of companies was identified, this is, Alimeds, Maadak, Invacare, Drive Medical, Medline, Royal Medical Solutions Inc, and Harmar, we looked for the revenues of these companies from their company websites, annual filings, among others. It was found that apart from Invacare, all other companies are privately held and neither provide their revenue nor any information detailing the segmental revenue coming from Aids for Daily Living equipment, this is because these companies have other product categories under their brand belonging to the larger domain of medical equipment and rehabilitation or senior care devices. Even Invacare which published its revenue does not provide any segmental break-up of its revenue either in terms of geography or product line.

    Financial Databases and publications

To find out the revenue of these companies, we also looked into sites which provide revenue and often estimated revenue break-ups for the companies. These sites included databases such as Hoovers, Zoom Info, Crunchbase, Manta, among others. Although these databases had the estimated revenue for each company listed, they do not provide any further break-up of the revenue along the specific product line.

We also looked for the market share data of each company listed to help in calculating the revenue proportions. The sources we checked included sites such as Forbes, Reuters, Bloomberg, among others. Although many of these sites had company profiling information on the listed companies, none of them has the granular revenue information required.

    Online Retail Portals:

Further, we looked into the online retailing platforms such as Walmart, Target, Home Depot, among others to check the ratings on the products listed by the companies. Although there were user ratings available for these companies' products, they could not be used for comparison as firstly there is a mismatch of products that companies have. That is, while some companies have lots of products listed, some have very few products, even two or three. Therefore, the average rating could not be used to compare these companies. Also, since all the companies do not have similar types of products listed, it was difficult to compare the ratings on the same scale.

    Health & Medical Recommendation Sites:

Finally, we looked into sites that provide recommendations or suggestions for different health and medical-related products and services; these sites included sources such as Everyday Health, Med Scape or Heath Line. Although these sources provide suggestions on Aids for Daily Living equipment in general, it is qualitative in nature and not focus on specific companies, and rather on the type of products required.

NOTE: We could not find the revenues generated from Aids for Daily Living equipment of the listed companies. Also, we could not find a suitable metric such as ratings to compile the top manufacturers of Aids for Daily Living equipment in the United States. Therefore, we could not provide the list of the top manufacturers in this segment, however, we have used the overall revenue to arrange the companies (just a helpful finding).

How the final list was prepared (overall revenue)

Out of these eight companies, Royal Medical Solutions Inc, Harmar, and Alimed were not included in the findings for their low revenue, while the remaining five were selected and arranged in the order of revenue.

Retail Distribution: Aids for Daily Living

Information on the retail distribution for the U.S. aids for daily living equipment market is not available in public domain, therefore, the tab "Aids for Daily Living" on the attached spreadsheet has not been filled in. Below is an overview of the information that was available.

    HELPFUL FINDINGS

    Key Players

    • Dynatronics distributes rehab equipment through dealers across the United States.
    • Carex health brands distribute aids for daily living through mass retailers, distributors, and medical dealers.

    Product Segment

    • As per Garner Insights, the United States walking canes market key players include Hugo Mobility, HurryCane, Ez2care, Duro-Med, Carex Health Brands, and others. There are, however, no details on the segmentation of retail distribution.
    • As per Global Info Research, the United States rollator walker market manufacturing key players include Graham-Field, Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare, Karman, Human Care, Meyra, Roscoe Medical, and others
    • As per IBIS World, the wheelchair manufacturing industry in the U.S. has annual revenue of $567 million but the report does not provide details on the retail distribution segmentation.

    Market Report

    • According to a Markets and Markets report, the global rehabilitation equipment market had a market size of US$9.86 billion in 2016 and is projected to grow to US$14.91 billion by 2021 with geographical distribution of 44% to North America but details on the retail distribution segmentation were not mentioned.

    RESEARCH STRATEGY

Initially, we searched for information on retail distribution for the U.S. aids for daily living equipment market in reports, related articles, and press releases on websites such as Globenewswire, Allied Market Research, Markets and Markets, Grandview Research, Deloitte, WSJ, Forbes, and others. We could find no U.S. aids for daily living equipment market reports from which to derive further information on the retail distribution segmentation as most of the information was focused on the global market size and key players in the U.S.

As there was no readily available information on the segmentation of the retail distribution for the U.S. aids for daily living equipment market, we tried to derive the retail distribution pattern from the U.S. key players and sought information across various key players' websites, reports, and press releases such as Invacare Corporation, Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare, Medline Industries, Inc., Dynatronics Corporation, Carex Health Brands, GF Health Products, Inc. and others. The information they provide is very limited and focused on the number of dealers, locations, and variety of distribution channels but no specific information on the share of sales or any specific type of retailer from which to derive consolidated retail distribution for this industry.

Next, we focused on the breakdown of products such as walkers, canes, wheelchairs, crutches, etc. and looked into U.S. market reports for each product to find the retail distribution segmentation. We searched on sites such as Garner Insights, PRNewswire, Million Insights, Promedxpress, IBIS World, but most of the reports just focused on the market size and key players and were not specific to retail distribution. Further, we performed a deep-dive into multiple key players of various sub-types to find the retail distribution to consolidate retail distribution by home-center, hardware store, and mass retailers, but most of the companies just focused on product features and information on retail distribution was undisclosed.

As a last resort, we expanded the scope of the search and checked the global rehabilitation equipment market/aids for daily living market and also searched for information beyond the Wonder 24-month limit and beyond paywalls to find the requested information. We searched in various global rehabilitation equipment market reports, U.S. retail industry leaders associations (such as RILA), NRF, Select USA, PWC, CE Intelligence and others but most of the information was focused on market trends, opportunities, challenges and not specific to retail distribution.

    ELECTRICAL ACCESSORIES

    Legrand

    Emerson

    Philips

    RESEARCH STRATEGY

To answer this request, we started by searching the websites of the aforementioned companies to find out the names of the retailers they sell through. Our search yielded some positive results as we were able to identify some of the retailers mentioned on the company website such as Medline @t Home, Parent Giving, Medical Supply Depot, and Express Med, but unfortunately, as the request demanded such retailers through which the companies sell (company approved) and not just any random retailer, we were not able to find the retailers through which some of the companies officially retail their product as requested. Being that all the companies listed in the spreadsheet have a common goal of disseminating their products, the research strategy followed in an attempt to identify whom their respective retailers are was similar, so we have provided a comprehensive research strategy encompassing our steps in a bid to identify who these retailers are.

To begin, we first identified each company website and then conducted a thorough search through all available sections of the website in an attempt to locate the company retailers. We looked at sections such as products & services, frequently asked question (FAQ), about us section, sales terms & conditions, ordering, return policy, available/special offers, and finally, and the search tool of the website. Although we weren’t able to identify who the actual retailers of these companies are as published by the companies, we were able to find out that some of these companies such as Drive Devilbiss Healthcare retail their products online as well as their company outlet stores. Also, some of the companies have a store locator that operates with the help of zip code and locality — such information we have made available in the key finding section of our research.

As a result of our null search, we attempted a second strategy this time, and we looked up the annual report of the companies among them who have gone public, news, publications, press release, stakeholders’ events. Also, we expanded our search to online publications and news articles, trusted business directories such as Crunchbase and Craft.co as they are known to have detailed information regarding companies’ profile, for any information on the retailers through which these companies sell their products, but still the search was fruitless. Next, we moved on to the social media handles of these companies and also YouTube videos regarding how their products are made and sold, but we couldn't find any useful information. We also checked for the company’s marketing techniques and strategies, adverts about sale offers, customer reviews from trusted sites and also from the website of companies that have a section for such but could still find no such information. Rather, we found that some of the companies had a separate page where such information is listed but is only made available to wholesalers and retailers who were required to enter their login details to gain such access. To create such an account, one is needed to sign up indicating their interest to become a wholesale or retailer, so we were unable to extract such information due to the registration requirements and period of response.

Lastly, we resorted to going through the retail site of independent online retail stores such as Amazon and Target, to identify if and which of these company products sold in their stores and if the products were on an ad of any type, whether product or brand was advertising. Although we weren't able to find any of such products being influenced, we found that most of these products are being sold on such platforms, but we weren’t able to conclude if they were direct retail partners of the company or if they were being supplied to by a wholesaler. The extracts of this strategy are also recorded in our key findings. Therefore, we arrived at the conclusion that such information could not have been available probably due to marketing reasons, piracy, or as decided by the company for reasons best known to them.

For the instructional books (DIY books for home improvement), we did a further investigation attempting to find out who the key manufacturers in this field are in addition to the research already done, we searched through trusted media sources such as IBS World for industry detail, but the search was fruitless.
