Technology Reinventing Smart Luxury

After a thorough search through trusted media sites, company websites and databases, and industry sources, we were unable to locate publicly available information or quotes directly attributed to highly recognizable and modern industry leaders about how technology is/has reinvented the luxury market. However, we have provided twenty quotes that we believe are related or provide some insight on the subject. Please read on for our methodology and list of quotes below.

METHODOLOGY

We began our search by attempting to directly identify quotes about technology and the luxury market, attributed to highly recognizable and modern industry leaders. We interpreted "highly recognizable" to mean people that others outside of their industry would know about. An example of a highly recognizable industry leader would be Bill Gates or Steve Jobs, technology and business leaders who have transcended those fields and entered the public conciousness. We intepreted "modern" to mean technology leaders in the internet era. We prioritzed those leaders that were alive and currently active in their companies. With this criteria, we began a search through public databases, trusted media sites, company websites, and technology and business industry sources. We searched directly for quotes fitting this criteria. This proving unsuccessful, we searched for industry leaders that would fit the criteria, and then individually looked through their attributed quotes. Unfortunately, there was no publicly available information that fit this strict criteria. This is most likely because technology and innovation in the luxury market is a very niche topic, and public inquiry into what these leaders think or believe hasn't been published (in other words, no one has asked them, at least in a public forum).

In order to provide relevant and useful insights, we expanded our search to include successful, but perhaps lesser known CEOs and industry leaders of both technology and luxury retail. These leaders could be the head of high profile companies, such as Microsoft's CEO Satya Nadella or Gucci's CEO Marco Bizzarri. Unfortunately, even with this relaxed criteria, we were still unable to identify twenty quotes directly related to how technology has re-invented luxury. We then further expanded the criteria for the quote content itself. We looked for quotes on innovation, customer needs, and design and brand presentation, which we interpreted to be subjects that were related to, or provide some insight on, how technology has changed the luxury market. We also understood that it was important to collect at least twenty quotes, in order to provide a wide range from which the most interesting/relevant ones could be selected.

Some of the sources in the brief are older than two years old. We strive to provide the most recent sources in all of our briefs at Wonder. However, we understood, that for this particular request, it was most important to provide a high number of the most directly relevant quotes from modern and high profile industry leaders, from trusted sources. Therefore, we include sources outside of the two year window that meet that criteria.
