Calculations

Devdutt Yellurkar
Average of investments = (6.2 + 2 + 12) ÷ 3 = $6.73 million
Estimated available capital = (6.73/100) × 25 = $1.68 million

Jonathan Heiliger
Average of investments = (8.5 + 21 + 23) ÷ 3 = $17.5 million
Estimated available capital = (17.5/100) × 25 = $4.38 million

Paul Walker
Average of investments = (100 + 27) ÷ 2 = $63.5 million
Estimated available capital = (63.5/100) × 25 = $15.87 million

Dave Yuan
Average of investments = (225 + 250 + 125) ÷ 3 = $200 million
Estimated available capital = (200/100) × 25 = $50 million

Brian O’Malley
Average of investments = (3.5 + 8.5 + 3.65) ÷ 3 = $5.22 million
Estimated available capital = (5.22/100) × 25 = $1.3 million

Gopi Rangan
Average of investments = (15 + 21 + 13) ÷ 3 = $16.33 million
Estimated available capital = (16.33/100) × 25 = $4.08 million

Saar Gur
Average of investments = (70 + 60 + 13.6 + 25) ÷ 4 = $42.15 million
Estimated available capital = (42.15/100) × 25 = $10.54 million

Peter Sonsini
Average of investments = (52.5 + 10 + 20) ÷ 3 = $27.5 million
Estimated available capital = (27.5/100) × 25 = $6.88 million

Estimated Capital of Investors - Part 3

The estimated capital of the investors listed in rows 18-25, column A of the attached spreadsheet has been filled out. Below are details of the findings.

Cheryl Cheng

  • The last three investments made by Cheryl Cheng were $5 million, $4.7 million, and $5.8 million. The available capital, estimated to be 25% of the average of the three investments is $1.29 million.

Michael Powell

  • Michael Powell had only one investment exit. He exited from Curverider where he invested $300,000 with two other investors. The available capital, estimated to be 10% of his exit amount is $10,000.

Casey Tansey

  • The last three investments made by Casey Tansey were $20 million, $40 million, and $35 million. The available capital, estimated to be 25% of the average of the three investments is $7.92 million.

Daniel Cohen

  • The last three investments made by Daniel Cohen were $35 million, $25 million, and $15 million. The available capital, estimated to be 25% of the average of the three investments is $6.25 million.

John Malloy

  • The last three investments made by John Malloy were $5 million, $22.5 million, and $100 million. The available capital, estimated to be 25% of the average of the three investments is $10.63 million.

Adam Rothstein

  • The available estimated capital of is unknown.

Max Gazor

  • The last three investments made by Max Gazor were $52 million, $12 million, and $18 million. The available capital, estimated to be 25% of the average of the three investments is $6.83 million.

Jorge Conde

  • Jorge Conde has only one reported recent investments amount of $30 million. The available capital, estimated to be 25% of the investment is $7.5 million.

Research Strategy

To find the estimated capital of Adam Rothstein, we started by looking for recent articles, news releases or interviews that mentioned his available capital, typical investment size or future investment plans. We scoured through sites like Forbes, Vox, and Recode. However, there was no recent record of his investments.

Next, we searched for the investment exits of Adam Rothstein. We hoped to determine the amount he earned on exits in order to triangulate his estimated capital. We searched through databases like Crunchbase and Pitchbook. This did not yield any relevant result as the data was not publicly available.

We then looked for past investments made by Adam Rothstein. We explored the website of Disruptive, the company where he serves as general partner, for his profile and news releases. This also did not yield any data. We also searched for his profile on Signal but he was not featured.

Calculations

The estimated capital was calculated as 25% of the average of most recent three investments.

Cheryl Cheng: 25% * ($5 million + $4.7 million + $5.8 million) / 3 = 25% * $15.5 million / 3 = 25% * $5.17 million = $1.29 million

Casey Tansey: 25% * ($20 million + $40 million + $35 million) / 3 = 25% * $95 million / 3 = 25% * $31.67 million = $7.92 million

Daniel Cohen: 25% * ($35 million + $25 million + $15 million) / 3 = 25% * $75 million / 3 = 25% * $25 million = $6.25 million

John Malloy: 25% * ($5 million + $22.5 million + $100 million) / 3 = 25% * $127.5 million / 3 = 25% * $42.5 million = $10.63 million

Max Gazor: 25% * ($52 million + $12 million + $18 million) / 3 = 25% * $82 million / 3 = 25% * $27.33 million = $6.83 million

Jorge Conde: 25% * $30 million = $7.5 million

We assumed that Michael Powell and the other two investors each invested an average of $100,000 ($300,000 / 3) in Curverider. Thematic Networks acquired Curverider. But the acquisition amount was not disclosed. Therefore, we also assume that the exit amount is approximately $100,000. 10% of $100,000 is $10,000.

Estimated Capital of Investors - Part 4

The estimated available capital of the investors Ping Li, Steve Dow, Karan Mahendru, Mehdi Maghsoodnia, Tripp Jones and Dixon Doll are $5.25 million, $2.50 million, $6.54 million, $0.20 million, $7.03 million and $3.79 million respectively. Unfortunately, information on Richard Irving and Michael Lee was not available. On the attached spreadsheet in rows 26-33, the requested information can be found.

Ping Li

Steve Dow

  • Steve Dow made only one investment in Exactuals on February 8, 2017. This investment, a Series A funding, was valued at $10 million and 25% of this investment capital is $2.50 million.

Karan Mehandru

Mehdi Maghsoodnia

  • The last three investments made by Mehdi Maghsoodnia were $800,000 in strongDM, $1 million in Vitagene and $550,000 in Swiftly Inc.
  • The average of the three investments is $0.78 million and 25% of this figure is $0.20 million.

Tripp Jones

Dixon Doll

  • The average of the three investments is $15.17 million and 25% of this figure is $3.79 million.

Research Strategy

The estimated available capital of each of the individuals assigned has been estimated by calculating the average of their last three investments. Their estimated available capital was taken to be 25% of that average. For Steve Dow, there was only one personal investment which was valued at $10 million, hence, we considered only that amount and calculated 25% of this amount as the estimated available capital. For Tripp Jones, the size of one of his investments was expressed in Canadian dollars, therefore, we have converted this amount to US dollars by using a currency calculator. With a conversion rate of CA$ 1 = US$ 0.76023, the invested amount of CA$15 million was equal to US$11.40 million.

In the case of Richard Irving and Michael Lee, we were not able to estimate the available capital amount. Our first strategy was to look for interviews and press articles for Richard Irving and Michael Lee in the public domain as they might have disclosed their available capital during interviews or it might have been mentioned in articles. However, we could not find any interviews or investor profiles. Next, we searched through financial databases (such as Pitchbook Signal) to review their investor profiles for investment details but we found that they were not registered on Pitchbook or Signal as investors. We could, therefore, not find any details of their personal investments. Our last strategy was to review Crunchbase as investments and funding details are listed in Crunchbase profiles, but this source only had partner investments and no listing of personal investments or company exits to estimate the available capital. We, therefore, concluded that they had not done personal investments and were only focused on partner investments.

The estimated available capital for investors, Emanuel Timor, Yoav Tzruya, Tim McAdam, Sonya Brown, Michael Hunkapiller, Anik Bose and Gary Gannot are $1.54 million, $4.1 million, $25 million, $25 million — $100 million, $13.9 million, $1.8 million and $6.1 million. The information has been summarized on the attached spreadsheet.

Estimated Capital of Investors

#1. Emanuel Timor

#2. Yoav Tzruya

#3. Tim McAdam

#4. Sonya Brown

#5. Michael Hunkapiller

#6. Anik Bose

#7. Gary Gannot

Research Strategy:

We utilized the available information to calculate an estimate of the available capital per investor.

Calculations

#1. Emanuel Timor
Average = ($7.5 million + $6 million + $5 million) / 3 = $6.17 million
25% of Average = .25 x $6.17 million = $1.54 million

#2. Yoav Tzruya
Average = ($22.5 million + $10 million)/ 3 = $16.25 million
25% of Average = .25 x $16.25 million = $4.1 million

#3. Tim McAdam
Average = ($100 million + $90 million + $110 million)/3 =$100 million
25% of Average =.25 x $110 million = $25 million

#4. Michael Hunkapiller
Average = ($20 million + $37.5 million + $109 million)/3 = $55.5 million
25% of Average = $55.5 million x .25 = $13.9 million

#5. Anik Bose
Average = ($14 million + $5.3 million + $2 million)/3 = $7.1 million
25% of Average = $7.1 million x .25 = $1.8 million

#6. Gary Gannot
Average = ($6 million + $50 million + $17 million)/3 = $24.3 million
25% of Average = $24.3 million x .25 = $6.1 million

Our first strategy was to search for news sources such as Forbes, Times of Israel, J Post, Korea Tech Desk among others as well as interviews with the named investors, to find an estimate of their available capital for investments. We found information for Sonya Brown stating that she invests between $25 million and $100 million, however, the source was older than a year.

Our second strategy was to consult the previously completed portion of the project which provides the number of exits made by the respective investors, in order to use this information to determine the amount the individual investors earned from that exit. However, we found that these investors, Emanuel Timor, Yoav Tzruya, Tim McAdam, Sonya Brown, Ryan Wang, Michael Hunkapiller, Anik Bose and Gary Gannot, did not seem to have any applicable information about their exits (Column F of the spreadsheet). We had hoped to be able to use this figure, to calculate 10% of the amount to provide an estimate of the individual estimate of available capital, but this was unsuccessful.

In our third step, we decided to consult database such as Crunchbase, to examine the last 3 investments that were made and use these figures to first calculate the average of the three investments and then we’d find 25% of the average investment to triangulate a figure for the typical investment size that the respective investors usually provide. This method was fruitful for most of the investors except for Ryan Wang. We also searched for investments made under the category of Jerusalem Venture Partners (JVP), hoping it would’ve been listed but this was also unsuccessful. It appears that Ryan Wang does not make all of his investment figures publicly available. However, we found that his “main area of investment is in VR/AR, Blockchain (Equity and Pre-ICO), new frontier technology (Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, Drones/Robotics, Lightfield), Gaming/Esports, new Media & Entertainment companies” and his core factor when deciding to invest in the people.

Estimated Capital of Investors - Part 10

While the information of Moshe Schlisser and David Reckles was not publicly available, our team was able to estimate the capital of the investors in the rows 74-81 of the attached spreadsheet. The final results have been added in the column G of the spreadsheet, and the details of our research and calculations below.

Summary

  • Raoul Stein's available investor capital is approximately $16 million.
  • The estimated investment capital of Najib Khouri-Haddad is $6.5 million.
  • For the US investor Yori Nelken, the estimated capital to invest is $19.4 million.
  • Sami Totah 's estimated investor capital is $5.65 million.
  • The Israeli investor, Ran Levitzky, has an estimated investment capital of $9.37 million.
  • Finally, Idit Muallem's estimated investor capital is $11.45.

Research Strategy and Calculations

To determine the available capital of the investors listed in rows 74 to 81 of the attached spreadsheet, we began by following the three strategies requested. The approach used was broken down based on the strategy followed, as indicated below. Additionally, we had to calculate and estimate every investor's capital since the information was not readily available for any of them.

First Strategy — Available Capital Through interview

We began by following the first requested strategy. We looked for the amount of money the individual is prepared to commit to a single investment through recent articles, interviews, and news in different media sources. We also searched on press releases of the companies, the news listed under each investor's Crunchbase profile, local and international newspapers, etc. The only investor whose information was calculated solely from data from an interview was Raoul Stein. The calculation is the following:

75. Raoul Stein

According to an interview given by Raoul Stein in February 2019, Kreos Capital raised $800 million among its 50 internal investors and partners, to create a debt fund to finance businesses in Europe and Israel.

Calculation: Assuming that every one of the investors, including Raoul Stein, committed to the same amount to raise the $800 million of the fund, the estimated investment capital for every one of them would be $16 million or the $800 million raised divided between the 50 investors.

Second Strategy — Analysis of Exits

After looking through available interviews and news, we moved on to the second strategy requested, analyzing the exits made by the investor, available in column F, to determine the amount the investor earned from that exit. Then, calculate the 10% of that amount as the possible investment.

Unfortunately, none of the investors in the rows 74 to 81 had information in column F, so we were unable to follow it.

Third Strategy — 25% Investment Size from the Last Investments Made

We moved on to the third requested strategy, estimating the available capital for the investor by looking at past investments. The idea was analyzing them and determining the size of the investments, then creating an average size of the investments and providing the 25% of that average as the investor's participation. This information was based on the number of partner investments located in column D.

However, since the column's information was based only on the Crunchbase profile of the investors, some of them were blank.
In this case, we began with this information, and if none was available in Crunchbase, we searched the partnered investments made by their companies on the company's profile, website, or news, and estimated their participation as partners as indicated.

This strategy gave us the information needed for most investors. The calculations were the following and the results were entered in the spreadsheet.

76. Najib Khouri-Haddad

He has participated in two partnered investments, one for $36 million for LiveAction and one for $16 million for Zanbato.

Calculation of the average by 25%: ($36 million+ $16 million)/2 = $26 million x 0.25 = $6.5 million.

77. Yori Nelken

Partnered on a $1.3 million investment for Centaur Analytics in 2016, $100 million in OurCrowd global fund for 20 companies in 2018, $10 million in seed fund for OurCrowd in 2015, and plans a partnered investment of $200 million in OurCrowd in 2019.

Calculation of average invested by 25%: ($1.3 million + $100 million + $200 million + $10 million)/4 =$77.825 million x 0.25 = $‭19,456,250‬ or $19.4 million.

78. Sami Totah

He partnered in an investment of $28.4 million for Itamar Medical in 2015, $17 million for Adsmarket in 2010, and according to the company, the average investment size as Viola Private Equity, all seven partners, is between $15 and $30 million.

Calculation of average invested by 25%: ($28.4 million + $17 million + $15 million + $30 million)/4 = $22.6 million x 0.25 =$5.65 million.

79. Ran Levitzky

He partnered in a $5 million investment for Workiz in 2019 and $100 million in a fund for Israeli startup companies as part of Magenta Venture Partners. He was also a seed investor partner for the Viola Group, whose investment size is between $15 and $30 million.

Calculation of average invested by 25%: ($100 million + $5 million + $15 million + $30 million)/4 = $37.5 million x 0.25 = $9.37 million.

81. Idit Muallem

She doesn't have investment partnerships listed as she only became an investment partner of Pitango in June 2019 and previously occupied a non-investor position. According to her Bloomberg profile, she doesn't have any additional investments made.

Pitango Venture Capitals has made 265 investments in the past years. Since June 2019, when Muallem became an investment partner, they've made five investments with disclosed amount: $7 million for VariantyX, $40 million for Venn, $1 million for Convizit, $16 million for Neura, and $165 million for Riskified.

Calculation: Assuming her active participation on these investments as an investment partner of the company, the calculation of average invested by 25% goes as follows: ($7 million + $40 million + $1 million + $16 million + $165 million)/5 = $45.8 million x 0.25 = $11.45 million.

Additional Research Strategies

We were unable to determine the investment capital of Moshe Schlisser (row 74) and David Reckles (row 80). After following the three suggested strategies, our fourth attempt was looking through their Crunchbase, LinkedIn, Bloomberg, Pitchbook, MarketScreener, Signal, Startup Nation Central, and other investor profile databases. Our idea was using these websites as they often collect information about investment sizes of investors around the world to create a network or opportunities for start-up companies.

We also searched for the average size of investments made by their partner company; however, we found that Shefa Capital, Moshe Schleisser's company, has no information about any investments made and its status is "Actively seeking new investments" in Pitchbook. There was no news about any investment made by the company, and the only information was about announcing the formation of Shefa Capital.

For David Reckles, we also noticed that DreamsCloud, the company he partners with, invested in acquiring SoothSpace, but the amount was undisclosed by both companies. There were no records of any other partnerships made by these two investors or enough data from the companies to calculate the data, so we marked them as "NA" in the spreadsheet.

Research Strategy

To determine the estimated available capital of Anthony Nguyen, Austin Newman, Rich Moore, Harper Cheng, Guy Ezekiel, and Daniel Riech, we extensively searched media publications, news stories, press releases, and interviews. It was hoped these sources would provide details of available capital, typical investment size, and future investment plans. A range of different websites such as Forbes, Vox, and Recode were considered. While we were able to locate information regarding the investments of partners within each of the firms the aforementioned worked for, none of the sources contained any specific information regarding these individuals.

In an attempt to calculate the estimated capital value of the aforementioned, we reviewed a range of financial databases including Crunchbase and Pitchbook. By doing this, we hoped to identify the amount each of the individuals received when exiting investments and use this as a basis to calculate their estimated available capital. There was information on these sites regarding partners in the firms that they work for but no information on any of the individuals.

We then considered the past investments of each of the aforementioned. By doing this, we hoped to obtain an average investment level and use it as a basis to calculate their estimated available capital. Information from a range of financial databases that record information of this nature, such as Signal and Crunchbase, was considered. We also reviewed the websites of the companies that employed these individuals, in the hope they would disclose this information. None of these sources were helpful, and no record of past investments by any of these individuals was found. Interestingly, we did discover that none of these individuals are employed by their respective firms in an investment capacity. A superficial analysis of their job titles seems to suggest that investing is outside their levels of expertise. Finally, we reviewed Signal in an attempt to obtain this information. Signal has no profiles stored for any of these individuals.
