List of critical access hospitals (CAH) in the US sorted by state and bed size (only want those CAH's with 100 beds+)

Hello! Thanks for your question asking for a list of critical access hospitals (CAH) in the US sorted by state and bed size with 100 or more beds. The most useful sources I found to answer your question are AHA and Rural Health Info. The short version is that by definition CAHs in the US must have no more than 25 beds. However, I included a downloadable list of all the CAHs in the U.S., along with directions to other resources that may be of interest to you. Below you will find a deep dive of my findings.
METHODOLOGY
To answer your question, I have looked at a number of resources listing Critical Access Hospitals (CAH) in the US, as well as using a number of respected websites to establish the reasons for the answers that I have. To begin with, I looked at what CAHs were, so that I could better understand your question and give a fuller answer. Next I looked into other options, and the types of directories that could give you the information you need - both paid for and free - and listed them below.
WHAT ARE CRITICAL ACCESS HOSPITALS
‘“Critical Access Hospital” is a designation given to certain rural hospitals by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).’ The designation was a part of the Balanced Budget Act, which was created in response to a number of hospital closures in fiscally vulnerable areas.
- A CAH must have 25 or fewer acute care inpatient beds.
- It must be located more than 35 miles from another hospital
(exceptions may apply).
- It must maintain an annual average length of stay of 96 hours or
less for acute care patients.
- It must provide 24/7 emergency care services.

Unfortunately, by definition, CAHs cannot have more than 25 beds.
LIST OF CRITICAL ACCESS HOSPITALS
Though I have not been able to find a list of CAHs over 100 beds, I have found a resource online that lists all CAHs by state and city, with the number of beds - which I hope you find useful. It lists 1339 active CAHs in the US and was last updated on January 25th, 2017. You can download this useful resource here.
As there are no CAHs with 100 beds or more, we have also attempted to examine Rural Health Hospitals over 100 beds for more options.
RURAL HEALTH HOSPITALS
In examining this second option, I have found a very useful resource for you, which should hold exactly all the information that would be useful for you. Unfortunately, it is not a free resource, so I can only list it here as an option for further research later should you so choose. The resources is the AHA Guide 2017, and is ‘the most comprehensive hospital directory available.’ You can find out more or purchase this guide here.
Unfortunately, I was unable to find any information that directly points to a Rural Health Hospital in any way that was free available online (The AHA Guide is the best option). However, there are other resources that you may find interesting.
AMERICAN HOSPITAL DIRECTORY
Though this information does not show any Rural Health Hospital classification, it does give information on "statistics for non-federal, short-term, acute care hospitals are summarized by state." Though this is not the specific list you requested, it is a good free resource listing the number of hospital beds for each hospital, listed by state - plus some other useful information. You can find this directory here.
CONCLUSION
As mentioned, there are no CAHs in the US, as by definition they can have no more than 25 beds. However, a link to the list of all CAHs in the US has been provided above. In terms of Rural Health Hospitals, the best resource for your business to use is the AHA Guide 2017 - this is not a free resource though. However, there are other free directories online (that have been linked to), they just do not display the types of hospital classifications requested.

Thank you for your question for Wonder! Please reach out if you need anything else, and we'll be happy to assist!
