Research Strategy

The number of Raz-Kids' users/partner schools/districts was not publicly available. To find this information, we started by scouring through the website of Raz-Kids as well as Learning A-Z. While the official website of Raz-Kids provides the number of books read (over 9.93 billion) and online readers (20,896), the total number of users/school partners was not available. We then ran a press scan to identify news and media articles that provide any indication on the estimated number of Raz-Kids users in the US or internationally, but no such information was found. However, it was found that in 2014 "Raz-Kids facilitated the reading of more than 441 million eBooks and completion of over 418 million eQuizzes by more than 5 million learners" across the globe. By July 2018, "more than 7 billion Raz-Kids resources and activities have been accessed online." In the absence of available information on the total Raz-Kids users, we have provided the number of books read and the number of online readers in the attached presentation.

The number of users/schools/districts that use Raz-Plus is not publicly available. To identify the required information, we first examined the website of Raz-Plus and its parent company Learning A-Z, and articles published by Learning A-Z. Raz-Plus' website has only provided the number of online books that have been read and number of readers online. In May 2019, Learning A-Z announced that its products served over 8 million students and 500,000 teachers worldwide. However, the company did not provide a breakdown for each product.

Next, we examined external articles that mentioned Raz-Plus. The articles examined only talked about partnerships and awards received. No additional statistics for Raz-Plus could be identified. Therefore, we have provided the number of books that have been read and number of readers online.

Review ratings for Raz-Plus are also not publicly available. To identify the required information, we first examined the website of Raz-Plus and Learning A-Z. Learning A-Z's website has provided a sample of positive feedbacks for Raz-Plus. However, these testimonials do not provide any ratings.

Next, we examined external sources such as review sites, homeschool forums, and blogs. An examination of review sites and homeschool forums did not provide any reviews for Raz-Plus. A blog run by a homeschool parent has provided a positive review of Raz-Plus. Based on publicly available testimonials, we have assumed that reviews of Raz-Plus are positive in general.
