How many kitchens are sold each year in the US by numbers & percentage of kitchen types (low / medium / high quality) and price estimates by type.
Hello and thanks for your question about the number and types of kitchens sold in the US each year! In short, 21% of kitchens sold are low-quality with an average price of $2,850-8,550, 49% are medium-quality with an average price of $8,550-28,500, and 30% are high-quality with an average price range of $28,500-57,000. Below you will find a more in-depth explanation of our findings.
METHODOLOGY
We searched through corporate websites, industry reports, and trusted media sites to find information about the percentage of US kitchen sales that fall into the categories of low-, medium-, and high-quality. Furthermore, we researched the average price of a kitchen in each category. After we found all these values, we adjusted the average kitchen costs for each category to exclude the cost of cabinets and appliances, as you had requested. We interpreted "kitchens sold" as the number of kitchen installations or remodels performed.
RESULTS
In the US, the average kitchen installation/remodel costs $21,773, and over 10.2 million kitchens are installed each year. About 21% of these kitchens are considered lower quality and usually cost around $5,000-$15,000. Another 49% of kitchens are medium-quality and generally cost $15,00-50,000. Finally, 30% of kitchens are high-quality, and they generally cost $50,000-100,000. However, 43% of this cost is due to cabinets and appliances (29% for cabinetry/hardware and 14% for appliances/ventilation). Therefore, only 57% of this cost accounts for "everything that is not cabinets or appliances" as you requested. Considering this fact, we will adjust our average price estimates. The average low-quality kitchen costs $2,850-8,550, the average medium-quality kitchen costs $8,550-28,500, and the average high-quality kitchen costs $28,500-57,000. Average values are provided in ranges rather than exact costs because the price of a kitchen installation/remodel fluctuates wildly depending on a number of variables. For example, kitchen sizes vary wildly across the US, and this factor has a big impact on price regardless of the kitchen's quality. Kitchen layout and labor type can also drastically alter a kitchen's cost without being related its quality.
CONCLUSION
To wrap it up, we have provided the average number of kitchens sold in the US annually, and have broken this down into percentages of low-, medium-, and high-quality kitchens sold. Additionally, we have provided the average value of a low-, medium-, and high-quality kitchen, both with and without the cost of cabinets and appliances.
