What kind of people eat at Charley's Philly Steaks

Hello! Thanks for your question about consumer demographics for Charley's Philly Steaks. The short version is that while I could not find hard numbers regarding who eats at Charley's Philly Steaks, millennials are highly attracted to the restaurant. Below you will find a deep dive of my findings.

METHODOLOGY

I searched corporate websites, news reports, industry papers and trusted media websites to try to find data regarding Charley's Philly Steaks demographic. There didn't seem to be anything with quantitative data so I tried to dig a bit deeper. I tried to gather information about where Charley's Philly Steaks are usually located and the general populace of those locations. Sadly yet there wasn't enough data to be able to triangulate an answer; I then tried other venues such as general demographics of restaurant goers, looking through online reviews, etc. to try to get hard numbers. There still wasn't enough information to be able to make an exact triangulation. Some qualitative data, however, was found regarding who tends to eat at Charley's Philly Steaks.

FINDINGS

Charley's Philly Steaks currently has more than 570 locations in 45 states and 19 countries in multiple continents. Thus, it would be somewhat difficult to round out specific numbers regarding demographics. These restaurants are mainly located in malls and military bases, but the company is planning to expand out to other sites such as strip centers where they currently have around 40 restaurants. The company is currently expanding in the Middle East as well.

A large amount of Charley's Philly Steaks' demographic is millennials; namely, those who are not vegan, vegetarian or with gluten restrictions. While the average mall-goer is around 35 years old, millennials still take malls trips and make up a large amount of the demographic living near malls. The restaurant has many characteristics that appeal to millennials; adventurous flavors, snacking portions, and customization. Charley's fully understands that the average fast food goer has changed and has been making their restaurant more appealing to millennials. Their newest test restaurants have dumped certain meats and now serve chicken tenders; citing that millennials prefer "bone-out" to "bone-in". These changes also appeal to families too, younger patrons also prefer boneless chicken and the new stadium seats allows families to sit in and dine together easier.

CONCLUSION

To wrap it up, a majority of Charley's Philly Steaks consumers are millennials and families.
