Who are the key manufacturers and target markets in the retractable screen door and window industry in the United States?
Hello! Thanks for your question about the key manufacturers and target markets of retractable screen doors. The short version is that ODL, Larson, and Snavely Forest Products are the three key manufacturers, but there are several other important players as well. The western states are the most likely to be interested in retractable screen doors, but the Atlantic coast and eastern Midwest states are also target regions. Below you will find a deep dive of my findings.
MANUFACTURING
We started by conducting a general search for an industry or market report which might contain the answer to your request. When this failed to turn up the required information, we searched for manufacturers of screen doors and developed a list of key players based on Google ratings and availability in Home Depot, Lowe's, Walmart, and on Amazon. We then looked for online reviews of top retractable screen doors and for each manufacturer showing up in more than one source, we conducted research via their corporate websites and corporate data repositories like Owler and Hoovers. We determined the key players based on a combination of revenue and distribution networks.
None of the top manufacturers publicly published information about their key markets, nor did distributors like Home Depot or Amazon. However, since 81% of shoppers will conduct research online before making a purchase even if they intend to buy in a store, this means that if we can find out from where the greatest number of search inquiries about retractable screen doors are coming, we can identify the key markets. Therefore, we triangulated the answer by looking at Google Trends to find out where searches on retractable screen doors tend to originate.
Per the update from our vetting team, we focused on identifying the key players and markets and did not research future sales projections or key trends in the market. Due to retractable screen doors being a niche of the home improvement industry, we do not believe that such information has been publicly published in any case.

ODL - Founded 70 years ago, ODL is a private manufacturing company with an estimated $167 million in annual revenue. ODL's primary specialty is door glass, but they also manufacture retractable screen doors under both their own name and as Brisa.
Larson - Founded in 1954 as a storm window manufacturing company, Larson has grown to one of the largest door manufacturers in the US, with revenues estimated to be between $100 - 200 million. They manufacture storm windows and several door models, including retractable screen doors.
Snavely Forest Products - Founded in 1902, Snavely commands $162 million in annual revenue. Its retractable screen doors, which are only a small part of the overall business, are sold via Walmart, Home Depot, and Amazon.
OTHER MANUFACTURERS
The following manufacturers are too small to be called key players, but nevertheless are large enough to have a significant presence in this sector. We have deliberately excluded companies which neither show up in the standard listings of companies like Owler and Hoovers, and for whom we could not discover any distribution relationships.
Aedes Technologies - This Seattle-based company is both new (est. 2014) and small, but sells its VisiScreen line of retractable screen doors through both Amazon and Home Depot.
Stoett - This mid-sized manufacturer, based in Hicksville, OH, has an estimated $7.4 million in annual revenue and licenses distribution to dealers in California, Colorado, and North Carolina.
Greenweb - This company claims to play "a leading role in [the] Retractable Door and Window industry," but is mostly distinguished by appearing in TopBestSpec's "Top 10 Best Retractable Screen Doors of 2017" list, and so we have included it here as a rising star.
SeasonGuard - Though sold via Home Depot and winning a place on SheKnows' 2017 "Top 10 Retractable Screen Doors" list, we could not find any company by this name online, suggesting that they are relatively new and still establishing themselves.
TARGET MARKETS (US ONLY)
Google Trends shows that the majority of queries on "retractable screen doors" consistently come from the states on or west of the Rocky Mountains, the eastern Midwest, and states bordering the Atlantic, Florida in particular. The top five states are Washington, Idaho, Arizona, Utah, and Oregon. Interestingly, if we change the search term to "screen doors" (removing "retractable") nearly all the states come up evenly, with the exception that Oregon generates twice as many queries as any other state. Unsurprisingly, interest in retractable screen doors peaks in May of each year.
CONCLUSION
To wrap it up, ODL, Larson, and Snavely Forest Products are the three key manufacturers of retractable screen doors, but there are several other important and rising players as well. The western states are the most likely to be interested in retractable screen doors, but the Atlantic coast and eastern Midwest states are also target regions.
