Research Strategy

We leveraged the official website of the cruise lines and the SEC filing by their parent company Carnival Corp, to find most of the required information. To find the revenue or booking information for each, we checked the parent company's SEC filing as well as their press releases. However, we learned that the company does not publicly reveal the revenue and booking information. It did provide the consolidated number of passengers carried, which was 12,410 passengers for 2018. As such, we have provided the estimated revenue for each company, found from third party sources.

To find the negative press, we conducted a separate press scan on each of the companies. We found the negative press for Princess Cruise, Holland America Line, and Seabourn only. The press scans on Cunard did not result in any negative press. The negative press for the other three cruise lines was related to their illegal practice of polluting the ocean and endangering sea life.
