Intrapreneur Diagnostic for individuals - I am looking for a tool/questionnaire/survey that assesses the characteristics of intrapreneurs and if possible benchmarks them against a 'good' criteria. These corporate entrepreneurs will have certain characteristics that will help them be identified within a larger organisation. I am hoping there is a research study done on this with a publicly available assessment tool that I can use

Hello! Thanks for asking Wonder about intrapreneur diagnostic assessment tools. The most useful sources I found to response to your query were Google Scholar, SSRN, and Research Gate.
In short, the Intrapreneur DNA Test, developed by the Academy of Corporate Entrepreneurship, is the most pointed assessment test I was able to identify related specifically to evaluating the intrapreneurial characteristics of individual employees. The General Enterprising Tendency 2 (GET2) Test is also widely used to assess enterpreneurial/intrapreneurial characteristics. Below, please find the results of my research, along with my methodology.

METHODOLOGY In order to locate high-quality, research-based assessment tools related specifically to evaluating the intrapreneurial qualities of individual employees, I searched Google Scholar, SSRN, Research Gate, and Project Muse. While I found quite a bit of research being done on the topic of intrapreneurship, I found very limited information on research that has resulted in publicly-available assessment tools. I've made note of several of those studies below. I then searched more generally for ways of identifying intrapreneurs in the workplace. And then I confirmed whether or not the assessment tools identified were backed by research.

TOOLS:
The most pointed tool that I encountered in my research, focusing specifically on evaluating the intrepreneurial qualities of employees, is the Intrapreneur DNA Test. Developed by the Academy for Corporate Entrepreneurship, the Intrapreneur DNA Test is a 30-minute online test that evaluates common personality traits among intrepreneurs/entrepreneurs. The test "has proven to be 85% accurate in predicting entrepreneurial success." The program helps companies and organizations to identify employees who are most suited to intrepreneurial endeavors, including their abilities to learn from their experiences, analyze data, build relationships, take on responsibility, adapt, and interact with people.

The test has been developed in collaboration with the Founder Institute, a startup accelerator program, and Neil D. Christiansen, Ph.D., an expert in psychological measurement and employment testing at Central Michigan University.

The General Enterprising Tendency 2 (GET2) test was mentioned in a few of the research papers I examined related to intrapreneurship, including an examination of the intrapreneurial level of CEMS students, as well as the EBN Innovation Network. The GET2 test is an online self-assessment tool that looks at qualities of motivation, creativity, risk-taking, and control. A presentation by Dinah Bennett, Director of the International Centre for Entrepreneurship and Enterprise, discusses the use of the GET2 test, noting that the test "has been designed to bring together and measure a number of personal ‘tendencies’ commonly associated with the Enterprising person."

RELATED RESEARCH AND ASSESSMENT SCALES
A fair amount of research has been done on intrapreneurship, but I found little in the way of assessment tools that have been developed as a result of these research projects. Many studies examine the intrapreneurial culture of a company, but I understand that is not what you are interested in. Other studies focused on identifying the intrapreneurial potential of students, which has some relevance but still isn't quite what you are looking for. However, I found a few research studies that allude to existing or potential intrapreneurship scales or assessment tools that might be worth further investigation, though I found no evidence of their widespread availability at this time.

INTRAPRENEURIAL SELF-CAPITAL SCALE
Published in the Journal of Employment Counseling, an article by Annamaria Di Fabio discusses her development of the Intrapreneurial Self-Capital Scale, which is "defined as a core of individual intrapreneurial resources used to cope with career and life construction challenges and includes dimensions of core self-evaluation, hardiness, creative self-efficacy, resilience, goal mastery, decisiveness, and vigilance." Though I could not find any evidence that this scale has been developed into a publicly-available tool, it may have potential for future use in identifying intrapreneurial employees.

Several research papers I examined mentioned the Intrapreneurship Scale, which was developed in 1988 by Lessem. The scale "comprised seven conceptually defined dimensions, namely, adventurer, innovator, designer (enabler), leader, entrepreneur, change agent and animateur." However, a 2003 study determined that four of these dimensions (adventurer, entrepreneur, innovator, and animateur showed relevant results, while the other three dimensions shows inconsistencies.

INTRAPRENEURIAL ORIENTATION SCALE
I found several studies that referenced to the Intrapreneurial Orientation Scale, however I found no evidence that this scale has been used to generate any publicly-available assessment tools. A 2013 study used this scale to report on "the impact of some personality factors, work values and socio-cultural factors on intrapreneurial orientation." SUMMARY To sum up, the Intrapreneur DNA Test was the most relevant, research-based, individual intrapreneurship assessment tool I identified in my research, while the General Enterprising Tendency 2 (GET2) Test is also a tool used to evaluate entrepreneurial and intrepreneurial tendencies. Thanks for using Wonder for your research needs! Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.
