Instagram Analysis for Diff Eyewear and Illesteva - March 2019

DIFF Eyewear's follower count on Instagram increased by 12,339 followers in March. The company used giveaways, influencer promotions and an event called the DIFFDay Sale to fuel this increase. Illesteva gained 1,107 new Instagram followers in March. The company announced the release of a new collection and drew attention to social media buzz through retailers and celebrity wearers.

DIFF EYEWEAR’S INSTAGRAM FOLLOWERS GROWTH TREND

The account entitled @diffeyewear added 70 new posts to Instagram in March 2019. It had 84,472 followers as of March 4th (the earliest point in the month at which we could confirm a follower count using publicly available sources, specifically a free level account on Social Blade.) The account had 596,811 followers as of March 31st.

Diff Eyewear accumulates an average of 12,210 new followers each month. There were three sharp upticks in the account's follower numbers: on March 21st and 22nd, the account picked up 1,249 followers; on March 22nd and 23rd, it picked up 2,052 followers; and on March 26th and 27th, it picked up 1,466 new followers.

The company held 11 giveaways throughout the month. On March 1st, it offered a 40% discount sale, which garnered 2,253 likes. On the 14th, it offered a shopping spree giveaway valued at $1000. That post received 4,240 likes. On the 18th, it held a giveaway in collaboration with The Beach Waver and It Cosmetics worth $330. The announcement post received 2,431 likes and earned 1,053 new followers that day.

DIFFEYEWEAR INSTAGRAM POST: MARCH 21st, 2019

On March 21st, it started the #DIFFDay sale, which offered customers a chance to buy one pair of sunglasses and get a second pair free. This was first announced on March 20th. The post on the 21st included a picture of the fashion blogger @chloandtell and the hashtag #DIFFDay. It received 1,993 likes.

Influencer Chloe Warren (@chloandtell) also posted an announcement of the DiffDay sale on her account on March 20th. She explained that the company would also donate one pair of reading glasses to a person in need for every purchase made during the sale.

The DIFF Eyewear Instagram account gained 789 new followers that day.

DIFFEYEWEAR INSTAGRAM POSTS: MARCH 22nd, 2019

On this day the Diffeyewear regrammed the story posted by influencer Kylie Jenner. The story included a video of her wearing the Karter Blue Light Blocking Glasses. Kylie Jenner is a recognized fashion influencer with 130 million followers. The original story on her page already expired and is no longer available. However, in the story, she spoke about how this sunglasses model protected her eyes. The video received 53,833 views.

On the same day, the company leveraged the above post's popularity with a giveaway, offering of 3 pairs of glasses of the same model Kylie was wearing. This post received 5,884 likes. The buy one get one free DIFFDay sale continued during this period and was announced again in a separate post. Their account gained 1,249 new followers on this day.

DIFFEYEWEAR INSTAGRAM POSTS: MARCH 23rd, 2019

On March 23rd, the company reinforced their DiffDay sale by featuring their collaboration with the influencer @bkoof wearing their DIFFxBecca sunglasses. Rebecca Kuffrin's Instagram account (@bkoof) has 1.3 million followers. The post earned 1,955 likes.

On the same day, they regrammed a picture of the influencer @yaya_knudsen that received 1,848 likes. The picture was originally posted by Yajaira Knudsen (@yaya_knudsen). It promoted the DiffDay sale event and the benefits of buying the company's eyewear vis-à-vis its donations to people in need. During this day, the company earned 2,052 new followers.

DIFFEYEWEAR INSTAGRAM POSTS: MARCH 26th, 2019

The company posted a giveaway announcement in partnership with Pura Vida Bracelets. The giveaway offered a pair of glasses and a Pura Vida package contingent upon following each company's Instagram page and tagging someone in the giveaway post. The post received 7,049 likes on DIFF Eyewear's account. Pura Vida Bracelets also posted the announcement on March 25th, instructing followers to follow both pages to win. The giveaway entry window lasted until March 27th. DIFF Eyewear gained 122 followers on the 26th.

DIFFEYEWEAR INSTAGRAM POSTS: MARCH 27th, 2019

The account began another giveaway. This one to win two pairs of glasses. The post contained a regrammed image of the influencer @annaclairetadlock and her partner. It gained 4,725 likes. The original announcement Annaclaire Wilbanks Tadlock's Instagram (@annaclairetadlock) was posted the same day she announced the ongoing DiffDay sale event. Annaclaire Wilbanks Tadlock has 5,235 followers. DIFF Eyewear gained 1,466 new followers this day.

Illesteva's INSTAGRAM FOLLOWERS GROWTH TREND

Illesteva's Instagram account made 12 posts during the month of March 2019. It had 312,169 followers on March 4th and 313,276 followers on March 31st. They gain an average of 1,650 new followers monthly. The Instagram account followers spiked significantly on three occasions: on March 24th to 25th, it gained 109 new followers; on March 26th to 27th, it gained 169 new followers; and on March 27th to 28th, it gained 129 new followers. A different tracking source indicates a spike on March 8th, noting 281 new followers.

The company did not post any giveaways, discounts or promotions during the month of March. Its biggest advantage was a clear preference for their brand by celebrities, who are often featured wearing their glasses publicly. Big names include Nicki Hilton, Beyonce Knowles, and Gigi Hadid.

On March 16th the store Cansei Vendi published a picture of Meghan Markle wearing the Illesteva's glasses to promote the brand's availability in the store. Illesteva liked the post and it received 3,455 total likes. Illesteva gained 233 followers on the 16th.

ILLESTEVA INSTAGRAM POST: MARCH 1st, 2019

On March 1st, the company shared a picture of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry wearing its York model. The post received 2,884 likes. The post does not claim a partnership or collaboration with Meghan Markle or the prince and Meghan Markle did not post. Unfortunately, March 1st lay outside the range of available dates to track follower gains.

ILLESTEVA INSTAGRAM POSTS: MARCH 12th, 2019

On the 12th, the company posted about its collaboration with Google's campaign for the Pixel 3 phone. The post received 232 likes. There was no reference to this collaboration on Google's Instagram. Illesteva lost 81 followers this day.

ILLESTEVA INSTAGRAM POSTS: MARCH 16th, 2019

Illesteva promoted its new collection of glasses inspired by Bobby Kennedy. The post earned 3,120 likes. It gained 233 followers this day.

ILLESTEVA INSTAGRAM POSTS: MARCH 21st, 2019

The company regrammed a picture of the influencer @thassianaves wearing the polarized goggle model sunglasses. Thassia Naves has 3.2 million followers. She posted the original image on her account, tagging the company. This day, Illesteva got 25 new followers.

ILLESTEVA INSTAGRAM POSTS: MARCH 23rd, 2019

The company announced new models of sunglasses. The glasses were also promoted by several influencers including Rosanna Mancino, who has 15.9k followers, and the Panama Polo Open. However, there is no clear indication that these posts were the result of paid partnerships. The company gained 35 followers on this day.

ILLESTEVA INSTAGRAM POSTS: MARCH 29th, 2019

The company announced a new store in New York. In the picture, it posted an image of the new store's facade. The post received 1,957 likes. It gained 24 new followers this day.
