Indoor Arenas and Circuits: Size and CAPEX Analysis (1)

This research identifies the missing assets, including horse race circuits, art galleries, theaters, museums, and stadiums, highlighted in orange in the provided spreadsheet that closely match the requested tiering criteria/classifications. Note that we accorded some flexibility in providing assets that match the requested tiers, as it was challenging to find close matches with relevant available CapEx data. Due to this challenge, as well as time constraints, we were not able to find good matches for a few assets. Based solely on publicly available information, we provided the name, location, capacity, and relevant CapEx data for each of the provided assets. This information can be accessed in the attached spreadsheet.

The project spreadsheet can be accessed here.

Selected Findings

  • Martinsville Speedway, located in the US, is 0.526 miles (846.51 m) in length. “International Speedway Corporation (ISC) purchased privately owned Martinsville Speedway in 2004 for $192 million.”
  • Wanneroo Raceway in Australia is 2.411 km in length. The redevelopment plans for the venue began in 2020 and are estimated to cost AUD 230 million.

Research Strategy

For this research, we leveraged available sources in the public domain to find the missing assets that meet the requested tiering criteria/classifications, such as Forbes, MCRCWA, and Martinsville Speedway, among others. While it was generally difficult to find exact matches based on the provided tiering criteria, we expanded some of the criteria to provide assets that are close matches. A significant challenge we faced addressing the research is the limited availability of CapEx data for numerous assets that we reviewed, as without such data, it’s difficult to partly classify the tier and determine if it’s expensive or cheap. Due to this, we were not able to find good matches for a few assets. As requested, we have noted this in Column O.
