I'm looking compile a list of the top family offices and/or individuals that have previously made there money in the eldercare/caregiving space.
Several companies operating in the eldercare space have been acquired in recent years and are outlined below. In several cases, the acquisition price was undisclosed and could not be determined despite extensive search of news sources, business publications, and public documents. Since the request involved historical information on the acquisitions of companies operating in the eldercare space, some sources provided date back several years to the times of the acquisitions. All of our findings have been compiled into the following spreadsheet.
American Eldercare, Inc. and Humana
After founding American Eldercare, Inc. in 1993, Mr. Robert Schemel sought the assistance of Legacy Capital Advisors, LLC to develop a confidential "premium valuation" of his company for use in negotiating the terms of its acquisition by Humana in 2013. While the acquisition price was never publicly disclosed, we have found that the annual revenues for American Eldercare, Inc. at the time of its acquisition was $75 million. According to FTC documents, the acquisition was approved on August 23, 2013. Mr. Schumel went on to serve as president of the company following its acquisition by Humana. National Home Health and Blue Wolf Capital
National Home Health Care Corporation was acquired for $103 million in 2016 by "private equity firm Blue Wolf Capital." Steven Fialkow served as the CEO of NHHC at the time of its acquisition. Contact details and additional information from our research is compiled in the spreadsheet provided.
CareLinx and Generalis
CareLinx, founded by Sherwin Sheik in 2011, was acquired by Generalis in September 2017 for an undisclosed amount. Mr. Sheik continues to serve as CEO of CareLinx following the acquisition and has previous healthcare investment experience. Aging Family Services and LifeLinks
Aging Family Services, an eldercare management company, was founded in 1993 by Cheryl Theriault. AFS was acquired in April 2016 by LifeLinks for an undisclosed amount. Eldercare alternatives and Alliance Homecare
Eldercare Alternatives was acquired by Alliance Homecare in September 2016 for an undisclosed amount. Helene Bergman was CEO during the acquisition and continues to serve in an advisory role. Contact information and other details have been compiled in the spreadsheet provided.
Omnicare and CVS
OmniCare, a pharmaceutical distributor that focuses on management of eldercare pharmacy benefits, was acquired in May 2015 by CVS Health for $10 billion. Nitin Sahney was CEO of OmniCare at the time of the acquisition. He has since gone on to found another company, PharmaCord.
