Who are the global leaders in the coworking space? Which companies are the highest rated and most cost effective? How many locations do they have globally?
Hello! Thank you for your questions of who are the global leaders in the co-working space, which companies are the highest rated, which companies are the most cost effective, and how many locations each company has globally. The short answer is the highest rated co-working company is eOffice, the most cost effective co-working company is WeWork, and the company with the most locations globally is Regus. I have provided the details for 10 different companies in the co-working space on a spreadsheet for easy comparison and future access.
To begin my research, I attempted to find a pre-compiled list of top-rated companies in the co-working space. There were several to choose from, but only two provided me with companies that have a global presence. I used a combination of these two lists to find eight of the 10 companies on the list. I also included Copass on the list, since that was a company you mentioned. For the final company, I searched for competitors of WeWork on Owler and found eOffice.
Note: I did not put GWA on the list because it is a connection-based resource for those who have a space for co-working or virtual office purposes that they want to make available to others. GWA does not have their own offices, but instead allows those who do to list their spaces on the site.
To determine the top-ranked company on the list, I used Facebook ratings because I could not find any ranking website that had the majority of the companies listed. I was able to find Facebook rankings for seven out of the 10 companies on the list.
A direct price comparison among the 10 companies in the co-working space is difficult. They all have different pricing structures and while most of them have a per-month, unlimited access plan, some do not. In particular, Breather charges by the hour, so there are no monthly fees. The cost effectiveness of this company would depend on how often you use the space and what size space you use. Regus only provides the per-person, per-day charge on their website. I extrapolated the monthly cost in an attempt to provide a direct comparison, but do not feel that number is representative of the actual price for Regus' spaces because it is so low compared to the other companies' published prices. Therefore, to determine the most cost-effective company on the list, I only compared those that publish per-month, unlimited access plans on their website.
In addition, the definition of "global" is open to interpretation. I tried to find companies that had locations in virtually every major country, but this strategy only gave me seven companies. However, Urban Station, Surf Office, and Breather all appeared on various pre-compiled ranking lists and have some locations outside of the United States, so I included them on my own list even though they are not as global as the other seven companies.
The ten global leaders in the co-working space according to Facebook ratings and pre-compiled ranking lists are:
1. eOffice (5 stars)
2. Spark Labs (4.6 stars)
3. Urban Station (4.6 stars)
4. WeWork (4.5 stars)
5. ImpactHub (4.1 stars)
6. Servcorp (3.9 stars)
7. Regus (3.7 stars)
8. Copass (unrated, but included on pre-compiled ranking lists)
9. Surf Office (unrated, but included on pre-compiled ranking lists)
10. Breather (unrated, but included on pre-compiled ranking lists)
According to Facebook ratings, the top three companies in the co-working space are eOffice, Spark Labs, and Urban Station. Based on published rates, the three most cost-effective companies in the co-working space are WeWork, Urban Station, and Copass. The three companies in the co-working space with the most locations worldwide are Regus, Copass, and eOffice. The details for all 10 companies are in the spreadsheet.
